Over 10 years with “American Idol, ” vocal coach, pianist and musical director Michael Orland has worked with many unique groups of contestants, but “some things never change from season to season.”

The veteran musical mentor to the aspiring stars laughed Wednesday when he revealed one example.

“No matter what, every year those contestants go out there saying, ‘I’ve got to impress the judges. I’ve got to make them love me.’

Randy Jackson reveals his pick to win ‘Idol’

Past “American Idols” David Cook and Lee DeWyze better watch their backs — there might be a new “Idol” rock god in the making in the form of James Durbin, at least according to judge Randy Jackson.

“I think he’s got a shot to win it all!” Jackson told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Wednesday’s Access Hollywood Live.

“What you look for now is who is just driving and rising to the top, ” “Idol’s” Top Dawg continued. “I’m hoping that the public is looking at that going, ‘Hey, this guy is real dude.’

Casey Abrams: The Other Male ‘Idol’ Contestants are Sexier Than Me

Jennifer Lopez may have called Casey Abrams “sexy” but he did not believe it! The latest American Idol castoff stopped by the OK! NYC offices and explained that he is baffled by the idea that he is “sexy.”

“First I was like, ‘you are crazy for saying that, ’ ” Casey exclusively told OK! about J. Lo’s compliment, seeming truly dumbfounded. “I’m not like… it’s just weird that out of Stefano [Langone] and Paul [McDonald] and [James] Durbin and all those people, I was called the sexy one. That baffles me and I think it’s kinda wrong.”

‘American Idol’ contestant Paige Miles returns to her home stage to star in ‘Beehive, the ’60s Musical’

Paige Miles has come a long way, and now she’s returning to perform on the stage where it all began.

The Naples native first stepped into a musical theater role as the lead in “Starmites” at Community School of Naples. Since then, Miles has appeared as the 11th place finalist on “American Idol” and performed on “Late Night with David Letterman” and the “Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Just one week ago, Miles wrapped production on her debut-EP/album and has signed with Creative Artists Agency, a move that will help the young starlet foray into television, film and additional musical opportunities.

Jennifer Lopez’s Album Premiere Event: Her Return to The Grove!

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating the release of her new “Love?” album, and made an anticipated return to “Extra” at The Grove on Friday. Her latest compilation of songs features collaborations with rappers Lil Wayne and Pit Bull. Lady Gaga also co-produced a few of the tracks.
