Jordin Sparks tour reschedules ‘Battlefield’ concerts from spring to summer

Originally frontloaded to the spring, Jordin Sparks’ tour calendar recently underwent a major overhaul.

More than a dozen concerts from her Battlefield Tour itinerary have been rescheduled for summer or cancelled outright, and several others are still awaiting a final decision.

The tour will not officially launch until June 1, though some spring performances remain on the books.

According to Spark’s official Web site, the changes are the result of “an effort to bring [the tour] to more cities throughout the country.” More tour dates are expected in the near future, with the summer 2010 routing eventually hitting about 35 national markets.

Why Shania Twain makes a great ‘American Idol’ theme

I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that Shania Twain will return to American Idol as a mentor this season. I’ve long thought she was one of the smartest, savviest entertainers around — traits she showed during her stint as a guest judge earlier this season.

Even better, Twain’s songs are uniquely suited the Idol format.

What Will Crystal Bowersox’s Album Sound Like?

Whether or not Crystal Bowersox delivered the best performance in “American Idol” history, there is one thing that is clear: She is the obvious frontrunner and the favorite to win. She has rarely had a misstep and manages to step up a notch or two with each passing week. And even if somebody like Lee DeWyze comes up from behind to top her in the final, there’s no doubt we will be getting excited about Bowersox’s debut album by the time the holidays roll around.

Dish of Salt Interview with Tim Urban

Tim Urban looks back on his time in ‘La-La Land’

Call him what you will — Teflon Tim, the Comeback Kid, Turban, Big Head Tim (we just made that one up!) — but having extended his “Idol” stay far longer than anyone would have imagined, Tim Urban will go down as one of the most resilient contestants the show’s ever seen. So what did the Duncanville, Texas, native do with all that extra time in L.A.? Not too much sightseeing around our neighborhoods, apparently, but he’s on intimate terms with the Grove. More from 20-year-old Tim, who heaps praise on some of his biggest critics: the judges, in our ‘La-La Land’ questionnaire…

I am checking in from LA today, and I’ve had some good writing sessions this week already. I worked with Guy Chambers, who wrote Angels with Robbie Williams, and Erika Nuri from The Writing Camp. I also had writing sessions last week with Sam Hollander and Sluggo, who my friend Travis from We The Kings actually told me about because he has worked a lot with them. I also worked with a bunch of other really great writers, who you’ve probably seen me talk about on Twitter. But I actually have another writing session today with the Nexus lol. And I’ll let you guys know how that goes too!

Interview with Danny Gokey for his last second Wild Bill’s gig; ‘Idol Gives Back’ raises $45 million so far

His single “The Best Days Are Ahead Of Me” is edging up the charts. He is deeply aware of its slow but steady progress. He is also happy with CD sales (now up to 130, 000) but said to get it much higher, he’s going to need a single to go top 10. It’s still a long slog for “Best Days, ” which is at No. 26 on the Mediabase 24/7 country charts today, up 58 spins over the previous week.

“You have to win the gatekeepers, ” he said, referencing the program directors at each country radio station. (Most are now playing the song, including 94.9/The Bull and Kicks 101.5. so at this stage, the stations are basing spins on how the song does with call-out research and requests. So far, plenty of stations are playing it once or twice a day. Once they sense a song has built hit-like momentum, they will up a song to four spins or more a day.)

Dancing With the Stars’ Bruno Drops In, Drops Trou

Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli took time off from the show to pay a special visit to Joel, and then proceeded to take off his pants, naturally.

Somehow, we’d rather see Bruno on The Soup in his white grape-smugglers than Bachelor Jake on DWTS in the same getup.

Don’t forget to slip into a fresh pair of drawers for the Friday night occasion that is your brand-new Soup at 10 p.m. ET/PT!
