Casey Abrams Is ‘So Innovative’ On ‘American Idol, ‘ Melinda Doolittle Says
If you haven’t been watching MTV News’ “Idol Party Live” with “American Idol” expert Jim Cantiello, you are missing out. Every Thursday at noon ET, tune in to MTV.com for a fun-filled post-“Idol” chat show full of fresh, lively and interactive analysis of Wednesday night’s performance episode and predictions for Thursday night’s results show.
On Thursday’s (April 14) installment of “Idol Party Live, ” Cantiello and guest co-host Eric Ditzian were joined via Skype by season-six standout Melinda Doolittle. When Cantiello asked Doolittle to name a few favorites from the current season, she surprised her host by calling out jazz enthusiast Casey Abrams.

‘American Idol’: Paul McDonald Eliminated as Women End Losing Streak
McDonald’s ouster comes after last week’s shocking elimination of favorite Pia Toscano.
While McDonald became the first male contestant cut from this season’s top 13, the 26-year-old took the results in stride.
“C’mon, man, let’s not get sad about this, ” he said after the results were revealed.
With seven contestants remaining, the race is tightening, but the judges seem to be doing little to help shape it.

Caught in the Act!
She’s said they “vibe well together” – and apparently they like to dine together, too. Dancing with the Stars pro Mark Ballas and recent American Idol castoff Pia Toscano stepped out together at Asia de Cuba inside West Hollywood’s Mondrian Hotel. The duo arrived around 8:30 p.m., and though they weren’t overly romantic, a source says it seemed like the two were on a “second date, ” adding that they were extremely polite and in good spirits.

Bowersox to perform benefit concert at the Valentine
Crystal Bowersox will return to Toledo on May 28 to perform and raise money for the organization where her unique talents as a vocalist and musician were nurtured.
All of the proceeds from her concert that night will benefit the Toledo School for the Arts, where the 25-year-old 2010 American Idol runner-up attended high school before moving to Chicago to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter.

SYTYCD judges are ready to find America’s favorite dancer in Las Vegas
The art of dance was definitely alive and kicking during the recent callback auditions here for So You Think You Can Dance. The hit Fox reality TV competition has been traveling the country to find contestants for Season 8 set to debut next month. The series’ goal? As host Cat Deeley says every week, it’s to find “America’s favorite dancer, ” and one of those auditioning at Planet Hollywood could be that person.
The serious atmosphere at Planet Hollywood’s Theater for the Performing Arts conveys that this is no ordinary contest. These movers and groovers have a real shot at dance fame. Lacey Schwimmer segued to ABC’s Dancing With the Stars after competing in SYTYCD’s third season and joined her brother Benji Schwimmer, the show’s Season 2 champion, on the set of Christina Aguilera’s video for “Candyman.”
