How Zakk Wylde wound up on ‘American Idol’
Chris Jericho may be taking credit for setting up Pia Toscano and Mark Ballas, but guitarist Zakk Wylde says the professional wrestler is also responsible for putting him together with James Durbin for Wednesday’s performance of Sammy Hagar’s Heavy Metal.
“Father Jericho called me up, ” says the Black Label Society founder, “He’s on Dancing With the Stars, so we’ve been busting his b**** about that.” According to Wylde, James asked Jericho to make the call on his behalf.
“It was that easy, ” Wylde says. “I was, like, yeah, no problem. Then the American Idol people gave me the song to learn. Sammy Hagar, no problem. I bought it from iTunes: off and running.”

Pia Toscano Will ‘Have a Great Career’ After ‘Idol, ‘ Says Sister
Pia Toscano’s “American Idol” elimination last week shocked just about everyone, from A-listers like Tom Hanks to other gone-too-soon “Idol” contestants, like Jennifer Hudson and Chris Daughtry. But although “Idol” has officially moved on without Pia, she still has plenty of believers — her own family included.
Pia’s sister Kimberly, who is eight years older than the 22-year-old Queens native, tells Billboard.com that she’s sure Pia will “have a great career either way, ” and acknowledges that all the attention she has gone in the last week hasn’t done any harm. “I know the show has been amazing for her, ” says Kimberly, “but obviously her elimination is working out fine so far.”

Randy Jackson Says Pia Toscano’s Elimination Was Best Thing For Her
Randy weighs in on Pia’s shocking elimination in typical Randy lingo, “dude! It was so crazy…I think people just forgot to vote…they thought she would be safe.” Adding Jennifer Lopez, People’s ‘Most Beautiful Women’ in the world, Steven Tyler, and himself fought for her to stay despite, “not having another [Judge’s Save], but we tried to challenge the producers.”
Despite her elimination Randy believes, ”it’s probably one of the best things that’s happened to Pia, really, the press she’s gotten, Jimmy [Iovine’s] already going to make a record with her at Interscope, just the love she’s got, it’s just amazing.”

Last month Crystal Bowersox took the stage at our Pray For Pop showcase during South By Southwest and served up electrifying acoustic versions of such Farmer’s Daugher jams as “Finally Got It Right, ” “Mine All Mine” and “Kiss Ya.” But turns out there’s one more Mama Sox surprise we held over for you—a video interview with the American Idol Season 9 alum, which we conducted outside the venue where our event took place. Idoloonies: Pia Toscano on Her Dream Rap Duet, Love of Ballads, and That Gwen Stefani Jumpsuit
Pia Toscano’s elimination from American Idol last week was perhaps the show’s most shocking early exit since Chris Daughtry’s fourth-place finish back in Season 5. But don’t shed too many tears for the upbeat, New York-based diva. I caught up with Pia at Manhattan’s Empire Hotel to discuss her journey on Fox’s ratings behemoth — from those saucy harmonies she concocted for her group rendition of “Grenade” to her explosive semifinal performance of “I’ll Stand By You” to the unexpected hurdle she overcame during Elton John Week.

‘Idol’ Singers on ‘Most Beautiful Woman’ Jennifer Lopez
It’s not every day you’re praised by the “Most Beautiful Woman” in the world, unless you’re an “American Idol” contestant.
After last week’s shocking elimination of Pia Toscano, the remaining eight “American Idol” wannabes carried on this week, doing their own renditions of songs from the movies.
“Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez told them that she couldn’t be tough on them because they were all “so damn good!” The contestants were backstage with “Extra’s” Terri Seymour, basking in Lopez’s admiration — and looking at the singer/actress in her “Beautiful Woman” People magazine spread.

Blake Lewis: ‘Paul McDonald Was Spot-On, Lauren Alaina Reminds Me of Jordin Sparks’
Lauren is starting to become one of my favorites. It might have to do with the fact that she reminds me so much of Jordin Sparks. Her song choices are always great and she really did a great job tonight. I can tell she is stepping it up and with just her and Haley left, rocking it out for the girls. She really needs to keep going like this.
Stefano sang Boyz II Men’s “End Of The Road.” I wasn’t completely feeling it at the beginning, but when the arrangement started to pick up in the middle, I was sold. He killed it. The ending was great and his vocals were fantastic. I really hope he gets out of the bottom three.

EXCLUSIVE: Simon Cowell Talks About Justin Bieber’s ‘X Factor, ’ Favoring Adele, And Casting Charlie Sheen
BN: You’ve broken and produced many artists throughout your career. Who are you most proud of?
SC: I would say Leona Lewis. When I first met her, she auditioned on the X Factor. She was very shy and didn’t believe in herself and then turned into this fantastic artist by the end. So I guess Leona, because she’s the reason why we do these shows.
BN: Who are your top 3 favorite pop artists that are out there today?
SC: That’s a good question. I like Adele, I like a girl by the name of Jessie J who is about to break in America I think – a British girl – and I’m a big fan of Rihanna with how much she’s achieved in such a short space of time.
