“We spoke to Nicki actually about a lot of projects, ” the British music mogul admitted. “It wasn’t specifically about this, but we were just very interested to meet her. I’m a big fan of hers. So I don’t know if it’s gonna be this show or something in the future, but it was definitely somebody I wanted to meet.”

As for why the former “American Idol” judge was so persistent on a meeting with the Young Money MC, Cowell pointed to Minaj’s meteoric rise to success. “Off her own back she’s had a phenomenal year last year and she’s gonna have a phenomenal year this year, ” he explained.

Their opportunities on American Idol may have been short lived, but the three Latinos on the hit show’s 10th season — Julie Zorilla, Jovany Barreto and Karen Rodríguez — are all excited to see what the future has in store.

“Several opportunities have come up and a lot of doors are opening, ” Colombian born singer and songwriter Julie Zorilla told Fox News Latino. “I am so thankful to Idol.”

Blake Lewis Worries Casey Abrams Is ‘Scaring America’ On ‘Idol’

“I like Casey, [but] I think he’s been scaring America, ” Lewis said. “He looks like he’s going to punch a baby. I want him to smile. … Each week he’s been screaming.”

Lewis was equally forthcoming with his opinions on the female contestants, and he was particularly surprised to learn that Haley Reinhart avoided elimination but did admit she has the chops to sing.

“I think she’s a great vocalist, but she’s unsure, ” he said.

American Idol winner in concert here Monday

American Idol winner Lee DeWyze will appear in concert Monday at the Phillips Center for the Performing Arts as part of IRHApalooza, an annual event during the Inter-Residence Hall Association’s Residence Hall Week.

The free concert, set to begin at 7:30 p.m., will feature DeWyze accompanied by keyboardist Lincoln Cleary. The opening act will be artist Michael J.

The concert is free and open to the public, but nonperishable food donations will be accepted at the door. IRHApalooza 2011 benefits the Gainesville chapter of Backpack Club Inc., an organization that fills backpacks with nutritious foods to be given to elementary school children who are on the federal free and reduced lunch program.

ABC booted Lambert for guy kiss and not Brown?

When Adam Lambert threw in an unexpected guy/guy kiss during his live performance on ABC’s live broadcast of the American Music Awards in 2009, the punishment was swift and decisive.

Lambert’s scheduled ABC appearances, including a “Good Morning America” concert and a performance on Dick Clark’s annual “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, ” were canceled the next morning.

Last week as I was driving to a hair appointment in Salt Lake City, I heard a great new song on the radio. It was only two verses into the song before I knew exactly who the singer was: Adele.

The judges on “American Idol” are constantly telling this year’s contestants how important it is to have a “sound” — a distinct and unique voice quality that sets them apart. When people turn on their radios, they can instantly recognize the artist, as I did with Adele.

Lacey Schwimmer and ‘Psycho’ Mike Ordered to Tone Down Sexual Chemistry

The sexual chemistry between ‘Dancing with the Stars’ couple Lacey Schwimmer and “Psycho” Mike has ABC worried.

“The network [ABC] asked them to tone down the sexual undertones, ” a source told RadarOnline.com. “They know there is a spark there — everyone is talking about their amazing chemistry.”

“They basically told them to cool it with the sexual tension, ” the source continued. “But they both just laughed about it.”
