Simon Cowell Pays Mariah Carey A Housecall! Exclusive!

Nick Cannon himself told us today that Simon Cowell paid a visit to his house last week to try and woo his wife to join his U.S. version of X Factor.

Nick says Mariah is NOT interested in being a judge on the show, but that she is open to having some other role in the program. What that could be remains to be determined.

Cannon also confirmed to us reports that Cowell told Mariah he reached out to Nicki Minaj about being a judge on the show, a huge opportunity for the rap superstar.

David Archuleta had his biggest New Years wish fulfilled when he and some friends had the opportunity to ride on a Goodyear blimp on Friday.

Pilot-in-Charge Jon Conrad flew them along the scenic route up the California Coast along the Palos Verdes peninsula, and for over an hour he was rewarded with a private performance from David and his friends as they sang a medley of hit songs a cappella. A highlight of the once-in-a-lifetime flight for David was watching a pod of dolphins playing and chasing the SOA’s shadow on the water as it passed overhead.

‘Big Bang Theory’ Beats ‘American Idol’ in Canada

TORONTO — Splitting Fox’s American Idol between its main and secondary A Channel networks has paid big dividends for CTV after CBS’ The Big Bang Theory on Thursday nights became Canada’s top-rated TV show.

CTV’s Big Bang Theory simulcast on Thursday at 8 p.m. was last week pre-empted by CBS’ NCAA coverage.

But the March 10 simulcast for the CBS sitcom drew 3.13 million viewers to win the week for CTV, according to BBM Canada data.

Will Asperger’s or colitis win ‘Idol’ contestants new fans?

Ever since he showed up at “American Idol’s” San Francisco auditions and shared the compelling story of his struggle with both Asperger’s syndrome and Tourette’s syndrome, contestant James Durbin has enjoyed the support of others whose lives have been touched by Asperger’s and Tourette’s.

“He is my new hero, ” wrote eddie82 earlier this month on a discussion board on WrongPlanet.net, which calls itself “the online resource and community for Autism and Asperger’s, ” urging others to “Show your support and go and vote for him on americanidol.com. Aspies rock!”

Live+7 DVR Ratings: “Modern Family” Tops Absolute Gains, “America’s Next Top Model” Tops % Gains

Competing head to head with American Idol likely boosted America’s Next Top Model to the top of the % adults 18-49 ratings increase from DVR viewing, adding 44% to its Live+Same Day adults 18-49 ratings.

Note that both shows topping the list this week go head to head with American Idol’s 9pm Wednesday hour. American Idol is quite the motivator of viewers of other shows to record them and watch later.
