Idol Headlines for 02/27/12 – The Evening Edition

Crystal Bowersox now calls Pacific Northwest home – She’s in “album mode” musically, writing songs and flying back and forth to Santa Fe to record demos with producer/songwriter/musician Jono Manson who has worked with Blues Traveler, Joan Osborne, and Steve Earle, among numerous others. Noting that she generally has been writing songs pretty much on her own since she was 14, Bowersox said she has “super songwriting chemistry” with Manson and the plan is to finish 16 songs and then winnow that number down to about 12 for an album that will be released this summer. – Read more at the Toledo Blade

Jennifer Lopez’s Stylist Denies Dress Malfunction At Oscars – “The Oscar dress was custom-made for Jennifer by designer Zuhair Murad. The dress fit perfectly to her every inch,” Haenn explained. “There were cups built in and there’s no chance that there were any how do you say? ‘Slips.’ While the dress did give the illusion of sheerness, jokes on everyone who wishes they saw something!” – Read more at MTV

Ryan Seacrest on Sacha Baron Cohen’s Stunt: “I Definitely Did Not Know He Was Going to Do That” – Sacha Baron Cohen may have planned his Oscars red carpet ash-dumping stunt, but Ryan Seacrest was most definitely not in on it. “I definitely did not know he was going to do that,” Seacrest said on his radio show Monday of his run-in with Baron Cohen Sunday. – Read more at TV Guide

“American Idol’s” niceness problem – Two big things happened on “American Idol” last week. First, the top 24 contestants were chosen. They were a largely bland, unsurprising bunch, selected by one of the most toothless panels of judges on TV, but they’ll still be the ones viewers will vote on for the rest of the season. More significantly, perhaps, “Idol” was usurped (just barely) as the top show on TV by a fresher-feeling copycat, “The Voice.” There’s actual enthusiasm for the biggest hit on NBC in years and waning excitement around “Idol,” whose tired format in its 11th season is undermined further by judges who have been sweetened into acting all nice, all the time. – Read more at Salon

David leaves Phl with a heavy heart – “Before the shoot,” David told Funfare during a farewell interview a few days after he went back to the States, “they explained to me the scene and what the other actor was saying, and that’s how we understood each other.” They did the same before David recorded the soap’s theme song of the same title, composed by now-US-based Aaron Paul del Rosario. – Read more at Philstar.com

Steven Tyler Says Aerosmith Is ‘Back’ on New Album – Steven Tyler can currently be seen each week on American Idol, but the very busy singer is still finding time for the day job that made him an icon. “We’ve been in the studio for the last month,” Tyler says of Aerosmith. Tyler was in great spirits when Rolling Stone ran into him last night at Elton John’s 20th annual Academy Award viewing party. He has good reason to be, with both Aerosmith and Idol going well. “Both things, we’re nailing them,” he said. Read more at Rollingstone.com

Victoria Gotti’s ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Prediction: Clay Aiken Will Win (VIDEO) – Victoria Gotti was fired Sunday night on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” cutting short her stint on Donald Trump’s reality show. Her elimination was a shame for viewers who hoping to see some major drama erupt between Gotti and “Real Housewife” of New Jersey Teresa Giudice.
