Seth Rollins Was Cut on “American Idol, ” But Keep Listening

The 29-year-old Lakeland resident was eliminated from Season 9 of ”American Idol” last week after making it to the second round of competition dubbed Hollywood Week. The competition continues without him tonight and Wednesday on Fox.

While he has suffered what he admits was a “heartbreaking” disappointment, Rollins says he is only getting started.

“There’s a reason I’m not there. I don’t have any regrets, ” said Rollins, an insurance adjuster for Progressive.

Kris-crossing with Allen

What does it take to be an Idol? If reigning American Idol Kris Allen’s advice is anything to go by, the secret is pretty simple. “I think playing an instrument helps.”

Sound advice as he handled quite a few instruments during his performances on the show including the acoustic and electric guitar, keyboard and the piano.

“But if you can’t do that, obviously eyeliner helps — but not for me, ” he laughs, in an apparent reference to his Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.

His deadpan sense of humour is refreshing. In an interview some time before his showcase at the Gardens Hotel last week, Kris did seem rather aloof, but it’s forgivable seeing the strenuous schedule he has been put through since being crowned in the world’s most popular talent show.

Milwaukee Talks: “Idol” finalist Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey was in a car traveling from Austin to Dallas last Thursday afternoon when he took some time to talk about how his life has changed over the past year, since his run to a third-place finish on Fox’s “American Idol.”

He’s pushing his first album, “My Best Days, ” which comes out March 2, and he’s working just as hard on his Sophia’s Heart Foundation, which he set up in memory of his late wife to fund arts and music programs for kids.

Gokey, 29, is hoping to find a niche in the musical world as a country artist, a genre that wasn’t exactly what you might have expected when he competed on last year’s “Idol.”

Jason Wade of Lifehouse Talks About The Band’s New Album, Smoke & Mirrors, And His Songwriting

One of the melodies that Wade paid attention to became “Had Enough.” Co-written with Chris Daughtry and Richard Marx, the song examines a recurring theme in many of Wade’s hit songs–love. “This is probably one of the more memorable songs I’ve written. Chris and I just kind of hit it off. We played a show in Texas a couple of years ago and just became really good friends. Chris also suggested the Richard Marx connection so we made it a three piece. Richard flew in from Chicago and met Chris who was doing his record out in Hollywood. I met them out there and we wrote “Had Enough” in about an hour. Chris was still in town when we recorded this song, so he also lent his background vocals on that track.”

Review: Kelly Clarkson, BIC, Bournemouth

IT’S common knowledge that Kelly Clarkson has an impressive voice, but to fully appreciate her astonishing vocal ability you have to see her live.

The original pop idol opened her set with the title track of her tour and latest album, All I Ever Wanted, before steaming into the single that launched her post-American Idol career all those years ago, Miss Independent.

Dressed all in black, Clarkson was joined on stage by an impressive eight-piece band and no expense had been spared on the production side with an impressive lighting display adding to every song.

Caught! All Eyes on Lambert & Ke$ha—But Why?

Adam Lambert, Ke$ha and Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black were spotted hanging in NYC at Club 57 over the weekend.

While DLB kept pretty under the radar at the hip joint, we’re told one of his fellow companions caused a stir for all the wrong reasons…

Relax Glambert fans, it was KeSha, obviously.

The wannabe rebel singer performed two songs at the club, “Tik Tok” and “Blah Blah Blah, ” around 3 a.m. and a partier tells us it was “awful.”

The real stud you’re all wondering about, Mr. Lambert, held court with fellow power gay Dustin Lance Black in the VIP section upstairs.

Our source says AL looked his usual fabulous eyelinered self, but “didn’t mix with anyone in the regular crowd.”
