Simon Cowell`s charity single for Haiti reaches number one in UK

Simon Cowell’s charity single for Haiti has reached number one in the UK after selling 500, 000 copies in one week.

Cowell, 50, helped put the track together with stars such as Susan Boyle, Robbie Williams and Jon Bon Jovi providing their vocals.

X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke, who also sang on the track, told UK newspaper The Sun: ‘It’s fantastic the single is at No1 and that helping Haiti is on everyone’s agenda.’

Idol airplay: Kelly Clarkson, Kris Allen, Daughtry and more

Kelly Clarkson, Kris Allen and Daughtry are Nos. 1, 2 and 3 on our American Idol airplay chart this week. They’re also Nos. 4, 5 and 6 on USA TODAY’s Hot AC chart, according to Mediabase (though Daughtry’s Life After You takes the 5 spot over Kris’ Live Like We’re Dying).

Adam Lambert has his biggest spin gain to date, as Whataya Want From Me picks up nearly 900 plays. Kris Allen, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler also pick up airplay. While Danny Gokey saw an increase for My Best Days Are Ahead of Me, his single slipped out of the Country top 40 to 41, as new singles from Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan and George Strait leapfrogged him.

IT’S almost midday in Texas, and Kelly Clarkson has already been awake for six hours. “The jetlag has really set in, ” she says.

“I got back at midnight from a cruise holiday with my family around Spain and North Africa, and by 6am I was wide awake again.

“There were a lot of 80-year-olds on the ship – we played bingo with them all.”

American Idol 9th Season Odds to be Published This Week

Gambling911.com widely anticipates the start of the new American Idol betting season to begin this week as the final 24 are determined.

Emphasis is on the word “anticipates” as more and more online gambling sites have waited a few weeks to begin posting odds on individual contestants.

‘Dreamgirls’ hit Ohio

COLUMBUS — Fans’ wishes have come true: “Dreamgirls” is coming to Columbus for a run at the Palace Theatre.

The Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen musical follows the young women in an R&B trio called “The Dreams.” They traverse the ups and downs of the music industry in the 1960s. The show made household names of Jennifer Holiday and Jennifer Hudson (both played Effie White; Holiday in the original 1981 stage play and Hudson in the 2006 film).

‘Idol’ Alum Lisa Tucker: ‘I Love Ellen. She’s Really Good For The Show.’

This season of ‘Idol Rewind’ is currently spotlighting the fifth season of ‘American Idol, ’ which was won by Taylor Hicks and which also spawned the rock career of Chris Daughtry. One of the season-five hopefuls was a young Californian named Lisa Tucker, who came in 10th that year. We caught up with her while she was on a break from working on her album.

You’ve been doing some acting and are in the studio – what’s new?
I have a pilot in the works. I have a couple of movie things that I’m looking into right now. And I’m working on my album that I get to write on and I get to play on. I play piano. It’s going really well, and I’m signed to Compound Entertainment, that’s Ne-Yo[‘s company]. We’ve been working together, and he’s awesome, so it’s been really great.

Carrie Underwood: Surfin’ USA

Carrie Underwood shoots scenes with costar AnnaSophia Robb on the set of her new movie Soul Surfer in Hawaii on Saturday (February 13).

The 26-year-old American Idol winner stars in the film about the real-life surfer Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm in a shark attack and moved on to become a champion surfer.

Carrie also recently showed her support to help find dogs find homes. She teamed up with Pedigree for their sixth annual Adoption Drive. You can get involved by becoming a fan of the cause on Facebook and donating money to find dogs a home.

Howard Stern Thinks Ellen Will Ruin Idol

Never one to hold back on sharing his opinion, shock jock Howard Stern asserted on his radio program that new American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres will ruin the popular talent competition. During the broadcast of his Sirius radio show Stern, who is rumored to be a contender to replace the departing Simon Cowell, declared, “Everyone goes, ‘If Howard Stern takes over American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres might leave.’ Well, yeah, that’s the whole [expletive] idea. I’m not going to sit there with her — that dummy.”

He is the coolest guy I’ve worked with in a long time, hysterical As we near the semifinals and, soon after, the Top 12, the sensation that most “American Idol” diehards experience right around now — equal parts anticipation and dread — is starting to creep up on us. Sure, we love this show, but even with the addition of Ellen DeGeneres and the future exit of Simon Cowell, the “Idol” formula sometimes feels, for lack of a more subtle word, stale (though Monday’s announcement to reveal part of the Top 24 earlier than usual is a good start).
