Grammys 2011: 15 Things You Didn’t See on TV

Not all of the excitement at the 2011 Grammy Awards happened on the stage. Here’s 15 memorable moments that you didn’t see on TV.

1. Arcade Fire was in quite the celebratory mood over its Album of the Year win for “The Suburbs.” The group entered the press room singing the graduation anthem “Pomp & Circumstance” and cracked about the shocker win, “Were we more surpsied than [award presenter] Barbra Streisand or less surprised?” Singer Win Butler also touched on the significance of winning an award for an album “in the age of the iPod.” “We really believe in records, ” he said. “Records really changed our lives. When we make a record, we really put all of our soul into it. To be recognized for that [by] this group of people, in the age of the iPod or in the age of the single or whatever it is, we still really care about records so it means a lot to us.”

‘American Idol’ Contestant — Doobie Bro Kid

A contestant on this week’s “American Idol” is already raking in serious cash … by taking over college house parties with her awesome band … and there’s a Doobie Brothers connection.

Lara Johnston and her band Pinot have been making their way through the party circuit at USC — playing all kinds of ragers … at the bargain basement rate of $500-$1, 000 a night.

FYI — Johnston is the daughter of Doobie Brothers singer Tom Johnston … and if she looks familiar, it’s because she also starred on an MTV reality series back in 2008 called “Rock the Cradle” … a singing competition for rock star spawn.

She placed fifth on that show. Hopefully she’ll have better luck this time.

Jordin Sparks: I’d love to work with Chris Brown again

Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown teamed up for the hit duet, “No Air, ” back in 2008, and Sparks said on the Grammys red carpet that she’s down for another collaboration.

“I love Chris, I think he’s amazing. He was such a gentleman, he was bouncing off the walls, ” Sparks said of her time working with the artist, who’s nominated for three Grammys. Two years ago, both Brown and his then-girlfriend Rihanna were absent from the awards ceremony, as early that Sunday morning Brown had assaulted the Barbadian singer. The R&B singer was later sentenced to five years of probation, 180 days of community service and domestic violence counseling.

HOT DISH: Nashville Welcoming Carrie Underwood’s Hubby to Nashville

Music biz types and Carrie’s co-songwriters are thrilled their American Idol champ will soon have a 615 area code and will be moving all her clothes and stuff back to Music Town.

Carrie has a place in nearby Franklin, where she resided as a single girl. One can assume the couple will be comfy there until they can have another house built. I recall Brad Paisley showing Fisher around his home and the surrounding acreage. Maybe the Fishers would enjoy a log house with lots of privacy — like the Paisleys have.

And the post-Fisher era begins

Ottawa, I read, was shaken last week by the sudden loss of its only two celebrities.

Friday’s Ottawa Citizen ran a picture of Senators centre Mike Fisher and his more famous missus, country singer Carrie Underwood, above the paper’s logo with a story headlined “Missing Mike: A good player, a better person, ” and “City already feeling the loss of the quiet man and his big heart.”

If you hadn’t been following the news, you could be forgiven for thinking something considerably more dire had befallen Fisher than a mere trade to Nashville and deliverance from Ottawa winters. Below this pseudo obituary, the rest of the front page updated readers on the latest trivia from a place called Egypt.

Jennifer Lopez Draws On ‘Personal Experience’ For ‘American Idol’

For those who’ve been paying close attention to new “American Idol”judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, from all appearances — including an ever-expanding catalog of zany Tyler quotes — the two new kids on the block seem to be having a great time.

When MTV News caught up with Lopez and husband Marc Anthony during our live-stream broadcast of the Grammy red carpet Sunday night (February 13), we asked the “Idol” newbie — who on several occasions has expressed sadness in having to tell contestants “no” — if she’s enjoying the critical aspect of the job.

Licence to thrill: Cowell’s fiancée plays dangerous Bond girl to his arch-villain Blofeld for brother’s 50th birthday party

While her fiancé dressed as a Bond villain, Mezhgan Hussainy chose to mimic one of 007’s many romantic conquests last night.

Arriving at the 50th birthday party of Simon Cowell’s brother Nicholas, 37-year-old Ms Hussainy flashed a glimpse of a weapon strapped to her thigh.

Thankfully for the guests at the West End bash, the make-up artist was merely getting in the spirit of the spy-themed party by coming in the costume of a Bond girl.

Barbra Streisand Apologizes for Harsh ‘Glee’ Remark

Barbra Streisand is singing a new tune about Glee.
At a Grammy’s MusiCares tribute event in her honor Friday, she was asked whether she would ever consider a role on the smash Fox show. “Not if I can help it, ” she sniped to reporters.

Now, on her Web site, she admits she shouldn’t have used such a harsh phrase.

“When asked if I would ever appear on ‘Glee, ‘ I should have said, ‘You never know.’ It was wrong to say, ‘Not if I can help it, ‘ she writes.
