Craig Wayne Boyd Talks Opry Nerves and Album Truths – The singer promises his next album — and first on new label home, Dot Records — will also stay true to his tastes. Unlike most reality competition show winners’ first post-show albums, the next Boyd LP will not be the sort of rushed project aimed to strike while the iron is hot. In fact, he started writing it long before auditioning for the show and continued working on it through the competition. “The last song that I wrote was the last week on The Voice,” he reveals. “It’s funny, I was walking around the set as [the number of finalists] got smaller and smaller — it was down to five of us — and people would say, ‘Hey, it’s Craig Wayne Boyd!’ And I’d say, ‘Yep, I’m still here!’ So I wrote a story of my musical journey up to this point.” – Read more at Rolling Stone

‘American Idol’ judge Harry Connick Jr. enjoyed a surprise audition in New Orleans, but TV viewers didn’t get to see it – Although it was unclear whether the footage would air during the Thursday (Jan. 22) “New Orleans auditions” episode of “American Idol,” Crescent City jazz trumpeter Leroy Jones said “Idol” judge Harry Connick Jr. was delighted by a surprise appearance Jones made as an auditioning contestant during filming for the Fox reality television series. A member of Connick’s big band for 17 years, fellow-musician and friend Jones said he wore a number on his clothes just like the other contestants, and blew a tune on his trumpet for the faux audition that he did during filming in June at the Lakefront Arena. – Read more at NOLA
Greer’s Noah Guthrie talks life after ‘Glee’ – “Yeah, I had friends, I had my close friends that I’m still friends with now, but it was definitely always with me, that feeling that I’m the fat kid,” Guthrie said. “I guess I really identify with him just because when I was in high school and started singing, when I opened my mouth and got in choir classes and stuff like that, things got much easier.
