‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘X Factor’ Among Britain’s National Television Awards Winners – Downton Abbey, X Factor and its creator Simon Cowell were among the winners at Britain’s National Television Awards in London on Wednesday night. The winners were decided in a vote by the public and handed out at London’s O2 Arena during an awards show hosted by X Factor U.K. host Dermot O’Leary. Cowell’s U.K. edition of The X Factor on ITV beat out his Britain’s Got Talent, also on ITV, and the BBC’s The Voice and Strictly Come Dancing to win the honor for the best talent show. K-Love Announces Awards Nominees, TV Channel – K-LOVE–the Christian radio network in 47 states with an estimated weekly audience of over 14 million–has revealed the nominees for its third annual K-LOVE Fan Awards Show and separate plans for a TV channel. Alex Preston surprises students during school carnival – MANCHESTER, N.H. —New Hampshire’s own “American Idol” finalist Alex Preston made a surprise visit to the Derryfield School during its winter carnival. Preston walked on stage – guitar in hand – and performed a few songs in front of the whole school.
Before his performance, Preston popped in on a class of music students and gave them some advice. “It’s definitely something I wanted to do, because when I was in high school I always wanted to have someone to talk to about that – because I was interested in it. ‘American Idol’ bits: Crystal Bowersox interview – She said her primary income in this day and age isn’t music sales but touring and merchandise. Tickets are $20 in advance, $26 at the door, on the high side for Eddie’s but something she can get away with. She wisely capitalizes on her “Idol’ fame by offering a separate VIP meet and greet for another $50 that includes a picture with her, an autograph, a special laminate, a Q & A and a small acoustic set. “I’m very satisfied with the way my life is, my touring career,” she said. “I work all the time I’m still playing music.” – Read more at AJC.com
