McCreery’s fans shout, swoon during Clemmons appearance – Applying their lip gloss for the umpteenth time, hordes of teenage girls hungrily awaited the arrival of their idol and, for many, the man of their dreams. Shrill cries of “OMG” and “Scotty, will you marry me?” echoed through the crowd Saturday outside the newly renovated Lowes Foods in Clemmons as loyal Scotty McCreery fans braved the rain to be one of the lucky 300 to get an autograph. “I always say I have the best fans in the world,” McCreery, a North Carolina native and the winner of Season 10 of American Idol, said. “The fans and music come first. Grand Ole Opry Hosts Sell-Out Shows, Surprises This Past Weekend – Friday evening Joe Diffie was honored for his 20th anniversary as an Opry member and was joined on stage by fellow Opry member Underwood who performed impromptu harmony vocals on Diffie’s 1993 hit “John Deere Green.” They were also joined by Diffie’s daughter Kylie. Underwood made her first appearance since returning home to Nashville after spending 10 weeks in New York City preparing for the overwhelmingly successful The Sound of Music Live! television special on NBC. She performed “Blown Away,” “Jesus, Take The Wheel” and “How Great Thou Art,” before surprising the crowd with a walk-on by her friend and CMA co-host Brad Paisley for their #1 hit “Remind Me.” The performance was the final show of 2013 for Underwood, who said, “there is no better way to come home than to perform on the Grand Ole Opry.” Kree Harrison and Janelle Arthur performed at this show as well. – Via Opry.com

Alex and Sierra Q&A: ‘X Factor’ Duo on Scoring Hits, Songwriting and What’s Next – “After ‘Say Something,’ people started to look at their back catalog and then started buying their other records,” “X Factor” creator and judge Simon Cowell tells Billboard. “It’s a good sign — you have an artist who would work outside of the competition. I felt like they were recording artists rather than talent show contestants. It’s why we do these shows.” Alex and Sierra will be competing against Jeff Gutt and Carlito Olivero for the season three “X Factor” crown. Alex Kinsey and Sierra Deaton, both 22 years old and hailing from Florida, sat down with Billboard after last week’s shows. – Read more at Billboard.com
