Angie Miller: ‘I just want to sing’ – “My apartment is hilarious right now,” she says. “It’s me, my boyfriend and my best friend who are here, and there’s a stack of T-shirts and a stack of CDs and envelopes everywhere.” “I realized that getting a label deal and doing all of that stuff would take away from what I truly want to do, and I would have to compromise, and I know I wouldn’t be in control of my career,” she says. “I want to know everything that’s going on, at least to start out. I want to make mistakes and learn how to do things right.”
But didn’t she learn all about the music industry from being on “American Idol”? “Oh, gosh,” she says, considering the question. “‘Idol’ was a very different world than the one I’m living in now. I didn’t know a single thing about the music industry, and I was kind of left in the dark. I think ‘Idol’ is boot camp for performance, it’s boot camp for doing interviews, it’s boot camp for dealing with a lot of stress and still staying positive, but it’s not boot camp for Music Industry 101.” – Read more at Metro.US

Trace Adkins, Casey James Performs for Service Members, Families – More than 2,500 service members and Families braved the first cold snap of the fall season to attend a concert put on by the USO Saturday at Hood Stadium. The morale-boosting show, which featured country music headliners Trace Adkins and Casey James, helped bring camaraderie, fun and good times to Fort Hood. James, an American Idol finalist in 2010 and Top 15 country music charter, performed his hit songs, which included “Crying on a Suitcase” and “Falling Apart.” “I hope I can brighten somebody’s day with being here (at Fort Hood) playing music,” James said. “I mean, that’s my job as a musician, as an artist; but specifically that they can kind of get out of their head for a minute and maybe escape reality for an hour.” – Fort Hood Sentinel

Election Loser Clay Aiken’s Baby Mama Upset She Must Continue Paying Monthly $7,500 Child Support Payment – Clay Aiken isn’t the only one smarting over his failed attempt to become a congressman in North Carolina. RadarOnline.com has learned that the 35-year-old former American Idol contestant’s baby mama, Jaymes Foster, 50, is also deeply disappointed he lost. According to a source, a win would have meant she could have petitioned for a reduction in the $7,500 child support payment she must give Aiken every month. As Radar reported, Foster gave birth to openly gay Aiken’s now six-year-old son, Parker, in 2008 after undergoing artificial insemination. Aiken and his former best friend have since fallen out, and they’ve been in and out of Los Angeles courts over custody issues for years. – Read more at Showbiz Spy

Surrounded by pieces that evoked thoughts of travel, McPhee shared that her next trip included a visit to the City of Light. “I’m going to Paris for Christmas,” McPhee, who was also joined by stylist Johnny Wujek and George Kotsiopoulos, told Pret-a-Reporter after taking a gander of Ghurka’s new offerings for the ladies. “My brother-in-law is Parisian, so his whole family is in Paris and I’m renting an apartment there and then traveling to see some friends in London, so I’m excited to get some classic, beautiful luggage.” – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘Survivor’ host Jeff Probst takes some of the blame for the latest quit – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You and I spoke about Julie before the game and I said I didn’t think she could cut it, and some of the other contestants didn’t think she could either. She seemed to actually be doing okay out of the gate, but then it all fell apart. What happened? JEFF PROBST: I have to put a big asterisk next to this answer because it is completely subjective. I think the answer to why Julie quit might be directly related to what she and her boyfriend John said on day one – “We have never been apart longer than four days.” Based on that fact, I am guessing that the minute John was voted out of the game Julie began to ponder whether she wanted to stay in the game or join John in the non-jury group. Then when she got caught stealing the trail mix and the tribe ostracized her I think the decision became very easy: I’m done. Get me out of here. – Read more at Entertainment Weekly
