David Cook Going over the edge for brain cancer research – Kicking off the event was Cook, who descended 365 feet down San Diego’s tallest waterfront building before performing at the Griffin Saturday night. “After losing my brother in 2009, any time I can make a fool out of myself for a good cause I’m willing to do it,” he said. Viewers cheered as he emerged from a balcony on the 33rd floor and then slowly crept down the wall. “I was more calm up there than I am now,” he confessed after landing on a fourth-floor patio. “I knew why I wanted to do that. It’s obviously very important to me. Now that I’m on the other end I can acknowledge how crazy it was.” – Read more at UT San Diego

Dancing’s Derek Hough: My Back Is Better – My back is better. All is well. It was touch-and-go for a while on Monday, but I felt better as we got closer to show time. I had to rest it for a few days and Amber had to see her doctor about her knee, so we didn’t start rehearsals until Thursday. Luckily, we have the rumba this week, so it’s slower and should be easier on Amber’s knee. She’s doing well so far, but the difficult thing is that the rumba is about leg action and technique. Amber is still wearing her knee brace, so it’s a little tricky trying to get all the technique down. We’re not sure if she can dance without it yet, but we’re working with it. It’s also not as simple as just taking the brace off. When you wear a brace for a long time, your muscles become dependent on it, so you have to ease back into everything after you take it off. I had knee braces once and when I took them off and tried to dance, my knees completely buckled. It’s a very weird, disorienting feeling. – Read more at TV Guide

I’m coming over tonight and … I’m going to tutor you.’ Obviously, I’m going to need all the help I can get.” Among the items they’ll be studying is a “huge binder” filled with all of the contestants’ biographies and a history of what they’ve done so far on “Dancing With the Stars.” At the end of the binder, there is a scorecard. – Read more at Zap2it
