Earlier this year, season nine finalist Siobhan Magnus successfully raised over $23,000 to support her ‘90s tribute band, Doubtful Guest, and other alums are following suit. With new CD, Scotty McCreery hoping for some hit singles – “I’m really hoping this album takes us to that next level,” McCreery said Thursday in an interview in his hometown, Garner. “I’m keying in on radio for this record – trying to get some singles out there that climb up the charts and go. And I think we’ve got the songs to do it.” But he turns coy when asked about his own relationship status. “I like to leave this question a mystery,” he said, smiling. “I always say that it’s tough to have a relationship when you’re on the road as much as I am … but it is possible.”
Just don’t expect McCreery to pull a Miley Cyrus and pop up in the tabloids or on TMZ anytime soon. -Read more at News Observer

‘American Idol’ alum Casey Abrams likes Bucks County Playhouse, not so much Nikki Minaj or Mariah Carey – “I’m not wishing for stadiums,” Abrams says in a recent telephone call from Burbank, Calif., where he now lives. He says he’s done that with the American Idols Live tour that followed that show, “and it’s really fun, but you don’t need a stadium to, like, feel good about a performance. “It’s those little vibes. Who needs those big stadiums? It’s more intimate like that. I see myself doing those all over the place and all over the world. … It’s way better.” – Read more at McCall

Talking with Chris Mann (‘The Voice’), who will sing with the Atlanta Symphony Oct. 18 – His style of musc wouldn’t land him on the pop charts (although he’ll do operatic renditions of pop songs.) But he’s been on tour since March and comes to Atlanta on Friday, October 18 to perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, following in the footsteps of another operatic singer who nearly won a major reality show, Jackie Evancho. (“America’s Got Talent” from 2010.) “I’m very excited about it,” Mann said in an interview earlier this week. “I know how great they’re going to be. It’s going to be such a special evening. I went to Vanderbilt [in Nashville] and a bunch of my friends are coming down to see it. It’s going to be a reunion show for me.” – Read more at Access Atlanta

Amber Riley: I’m In ‘Complete Shock’ Over This Week’s Dancing With the Stars! – I was not expecting three 9s. I just wanted to make sure my tango was crisp and that it looked like I put effort behind it—because to be honest, I was very insecure about this week. I did not get as much rehearsal time, so I was not confident. In fact, I wasn’t confident about the tango until the moment I had to do it with the camera in my face! My knees didn’t really hurt during the dance because there was so much adrenaline rushing through my body! I was so hot. I did not feel anything. I was just concentrating on my frame, trying to make sure everything was right. – Read more at Parade.com
