UPDATE: Hits has revised its numbers up to 45-50
Seventh season American Idol winner David Cook’s second 19/RCA/RMG album is looking at estimated sales in the 35-40k range, a far cry from the 280k debut for his first album.
That’s the same amount [28-32k] as this year’s American Idol winner Scotty McCreery’s five-track Walmart exclusive, which includes his debut single, “I Love You This Big.” The EP will sell for $5 at stores and walmart.com. The other Idol finalists, Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and James Durbin, have also released five-track discs for the retailer.
I have to say, I’ve been listening to This Loud Morning a lot since it began streaming on AOL last week. Yeah, it’s got some generic elements, but it’s also lush, melodic and has some beautiful musical touches that set it apart from your typical rock-lite fare.
