Tyler Perry, Chris Daughtry weigh in on The Passion – Chris Daughtry, who is acting as Judas, says his view of the disciple has changed since his role in the production.
“We all have done something we’ve immediately regretted or felt this huge weight or burden and carried it around for so long that eventually we crack. That’s human nature,” Daughtry said. “I look at it a completely different way than I did growing up. He (Judas) has been the bad guy, he’s the original betrayer. I think he’s just a guy that made a bad choice and made a bad mistake. He couldn’t live with the ramifications of his actions and his consequences so heavy that he ended up committing suicide.” Daughtry said preparing to play Judas he tried to tap into what Judas may have been thinking two thousand years ago. “I was trying to tap into that humanity. What was he really thinking? What’s his real motivation for what he did?” – Read more at FOX10TV.com

It will tell the story of Jesus’ final hours on Earth, but the story unfolds in the present, and all the songs are modern-day rock and pop hits. If the concept sounds a bit strange to you, well, it did to Chris, too. “I had to be convinced,” he admits. “I didn’t want to do a musical,” Chris tells ABC Radio. “After taking a little bit of a break in music and really going out for these [acting] roles, I wasn’t too hip on doing a musical. I wanted to separate the two…I do music for a living, you know?” – Read more at ABC.com
