Phillip Phillips, who’s coming to Park City, makes the most of his do-over – “I couldn’t release music for three years, and when that happens people kind of lose interest a little bit,” Phillips told the Standard-Examiner in a telephone interview earlier this week. “So this is kind of like rebuilding my music career — doing it all over again.” But so far, the do-over is going quite well, according to Phillips. American Idol winner Scotty McCreery to headline at Clarksburg Amp on Friday – Scotty McCreery often hears stories about how his hit single “Five More Minutes” resonates with fans. Inspiration for co-penning the tune that climbed to the top spot on Billboard’s U.S. Country Airplay chart was his Granddad Bill McCreery of Raleigh County. “I was just kind of talking about him to some songwriters and how I wanted to spend more time with him, but (the song) became a lot more about life moments that we want to go back to,” McCreery said. – Read more at WVNews
American Idol Kristy Lee Cook leaves music behind for rodeo – An American Idol finalist is not who you’d expect to see in the arena at the Mount Isa Rodeo but it is one of the many strings to Kristy-Lee Cook’s bow. On Sunday Cook will be representing the US team in barrel racing as part of the international challenge at the Mount Isa Rodeo, the richest rodeo in the southern hemisphere.
