Nick Fradiani, The Alternate Routes and Javier Colon take the outdoor Ridgefield Playhouse stage – After having to scramble this spring to cancel and reschedule hundreds of shows due to COVID-19, the Ridgefield Playhouse is back to doing what it does best: hosting live shows. As of right now, that means outdoor shows with socially distanced seating. Music fans starved for live entertainment, as opposed to video streams, will want to note this weekend’s double bill under a tent on the field adjacent to the Playhouse. The weekend, highlighting Connecticut-based performers who have garnered national attention, kicks off on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. with Guilford’s own Nick Fradiani (and winner of TV’s “American Idol” in 2015) and The Alternate Routes, based in Bridgeport, best known for hit folky-rock songs like “Nothing More,” “Stronger” and their newest, “Safe Haven.” The concerts continue Saturday night at 7 p.m. with West Hartford’s Javier Colon (winner of TV’s “The Voice” season 1 and Hartt School of Music graduate) with Dante Palminteri as the opening act. Both shows are on rain or shine. – The Wilton Bulletin

Katy Perry to Receive Gracies Impact Award From Alliance for Women in Media Foundation – Katy Perry will receive the Gracies Impact Award from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) at the 45th annual Gracie Awards program, which will air live (albeit virtually) on AWMF’s Facebook page on Sept. 10. The Gracies Impact Award is presented to an artist who has made a positive impact on society through her music. Rachel Platten received the award in 2017, when she was coming off her rousing hit “Fight Song.” Perry has recorded her share of inspirational anthems, including “Firework,” “Roar” and “Rise.” The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created by, for and about women in radio, television and interactive media. Honorees are selected in national, local and student markets. – Read more at The Hollywood Reporter

‘The Masked Singer’ EP Craig Plestis Talks Secrecy Protocols, Upcoming Fourth Season And Status Of Spin-Offs ‘The Masked Dancer’ & ‘I Can See Your Voice’ – Next season’s going to be even bigger, which is surprising to say with the pandemic going on. We have it cast, and we have some incredible names that I wish I could tell you right now, but I can’t, and the show’s going to be incredible. It just takes a lot longer to do these shows, I have to be completely honest. Something that would just take an hour on a normal production day may take five hours. We start a lot earlier in the morning, and we go a lot later than we have ever done on any other year we’ve done the show. – Read more at Deadline
