American Idol’s Cassandra Coleman Set to Drop “Habit”

Cassandra Coleman competed on American Idol season 19 will release her DEBUT original single “Habit” on October 21. Cassandra writes on Instagram, “Y’all I’m so excited + nervous !!!!!!! Pre-saving allows you to be directly notified when “Habit” will be released so you don’t miss it. I’d be so happy if you could pre-save it!! David Alan Grier Reveals New Songs Written for Upcoming The Color Purple Movie Musical – Tony winner David Alan Grier stopped by The Talk September 30 and talked about his work on the upcoming screen adaptation of Broadway’s The Color Purple, which, according to the A Soldier’s Tale star, will include new songs written by composers new to the project. “What [the producers] did is they brought in some young, contemporary composers who composed additional music to the musical. … They wanted to expand it, also bring in a younger audience. I thought it was a great choice.” The Color Purple will be led by Broadway Color Purple alums Fantasia Barrino as Celie and Danielle Brooks as Sophia, along with Grammy winners Jon Batiste as Grady and Ciara as Adult Nettie, Taraji P. Henson as Shug Avery, Corey Hawkins as Harpo, H.E.R. as Squeak, Halle Bailey as Young Nettie. Read more at Playbill

Dance group Mayyas to perform in Beirut after ‘America’s Got Talent’ win – Lebanese dance crew Mayyas are set to perform for the first time since winning “America’s Got Talent” at the US embassy in Beirut this weekend. The embassy will also host a virtual meet-the-artist session which will be released on Oct. 1 on YouTube. “I am very happy that Mayyas will do a collaboration with the US embassy,” the crew’s choreographer Nadim Cherfan said in a video shared on the embassy’s Twitter page. – Read more at Arab News
