What has reigning American Idol Noah Thompson been up to? He’s been in the studio recording new music, and he just posted a new snippet. “What do y’all think of this snippet?” Noah in the clip’s caption, without naming the song. “Do you like it?”
The snip is VERY short and is mostly instrumental. But there is a bit of a lyric. “Maybe it’s because of where I’m from…” So, obviously he’s singing about his home town in Kentucky. In the Instagram video, he’s likely driving around the town too.
Straight up Country
The song is straight up country, which seems to be the direction he’s heading. During the American Idol competition, Noah’s song choices were more folksy. When he flipped Rihanna’s “Stay” he didn’t twang it up too much. But his producer, Jimmy Robbins, added layers of country flavor when he recorded a cover for his fans. Noah is releasing music on Wheelhouse Records, a BBR Music Group imprint, in conjunction with 19 Recordings.
“I feel like my performance of ‘Stay’ was one of my bigger moments on the show, and after seeing the way fans reacted, I knew I wanted to put a Country version of the song out into the world,” Noah said in a press statement.
Noah will head out on tour with HunterGirl
At this point, he’s probably feeling out his fan base to see what they like, or get them excited that new stuff is coming. He can also try new songs out on the road. On October 8, he plays the Knott County Fall Trail Ride 2022 in Leburn Kentucky. And then his co-headlining tour with American Idol runner-up, HunterGirl, kicks off on October 27 in Columbus, Ohio and runs through to December 2 in St. Louis, Missouri. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, Noah will co-headline a show with Chase Matthew in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Considering that Noah will hit the road in November, it wouldn’t to guess that a new song is dropping fairly soon. What do think of the snippet?
