‘American Idol’ hopefuls audition at Mac Daddy’s – America’s next singing sensation could possibly be from Carteret County. Mary Mikels, 21, of Beaufort, with another home in Raleigh, was one of the five winners chosen during Friday’s casting call for “American Idol.” Ms. Mikels, a blind performer, said she didn’t expect to be chosen.
