Headlines: Chevel Shepherd Back Home, Scotty McCreery’s New Puppy

‘Voice’ winner adjusts to newfound fame as she returns to New Mexico – “I’m still the same person I was before the show,” she said last week, “and I still know where I came from.” That happens to be tiny La Plata, outside Farmington, where Shepherd said she was constantly wandering her family’s 3 acres of land, tending to “under the hood work” on cars and, of course, singing “every chance I got.” “She embodies what I’m talking about when it comes to cultivating young talent,” the governor said several days after the performance. “She has such talent. She’s showing the whole country who we are here in New Mexico.” Shepherd, named the show’s winner Dec. 18, called performing before a new governor in her home state “awesome, exciting.” – Read more at Santa Fe New Mexican

Lauren Alaina Taking Social Media Break

View this post on Instagram

This Lauren didn’t care if she wore boy clothes. She preferred it actually. She didn’t know the future. It’s ups and downs. The happiness and pain it held. She didn’t know about heartbreak or loss. She didn’t know how cruel people can be or how much words can hurt, but she didn’t care what people thought of her or her boy clothes. She was happy and sure of herself. She knew she wanted to write songs and sing them. She loved fiercely and boldly. And most importantly, she knew how to smile through a mom bob. ? ? I want to live everyday to be more like her. I’m looking behind every rock and corner for her this year, and I’m going to find her. I’m taking a little break from social media. I’ll be back soon. Probably not in a boy’s collared shirt, but I’ll be back more like her. Much love to all of you. Thank you for your continued support. ?

Scotty McCreery and Wife Gabi – Meet The Couple’s New Puppy

American Idol’s Mandisa comes ‘Out of the Dark,’ returns to Winter Jam – You took a three-year break between albums. What happened in your life during that time? I was in a deep pit of depression. I couldn’t imagine what I might sing about. I was in such a dark place and I didn’t know what to say. I wrote Overcomer for my friend Keesha who was very sick and battling cancer. When she passed away, it sent me into a tailspin. I felt really discouraged and let down by God. Out of the Dark is my testimony of working through things and finding my way out of that dark place. I wrote the lyrics “You could have healed her. You’ve done it before.” I really shook my fists at the sky. – Read more at Tampa Bay.com

Ryan Seacrest wears Time’s Up bracelet after sexual harassment accusation – Ryan Seacrest picked an interesting accessory to wear to the 2019 Golden Globes: a Time’s Up bracelet. The “Live With Kelly and Ryan” co-host showed off his bracelet on the one year anniversary of the organization’s creation after a stylist filed a police report with the LAPD about him, claiming he sexually harassed her. Suzie Hardy first came forward to Variety, claiming she endured abuse for years working as Seacrest’s stylist at the E! network. Viewers on social media immediately called out the E! red carpet host. “Ryan Seacrest wearing a Time’s Up wristband should cause him to burst into flames like a sinner in church,” wrote one Twitter user. – Read more at Page 6

The Bachelor’s Colton Underwood has no time for your criticism (or mine) – What were your concerns? Just the concern of it not working at the end of this. This is an environment that is built for the success of a relationship, and if I get to the end of this and I’m in love and I get down on one knee and it doesn’t get reciprocated, that’s gonna be hard. That’d be the hardest thing. That’s my greatest fear in all of this. – Read more at EW.com
