Laine Hardy Talks Working With Luke Bryan, Inspiration for His Music and How He Has Grown As An Artist Since ‘American Idol’ – You recently released two new singles “Ground I Grew Up On” and “Let There Be Country,” can you tell us a bit about these singles and how they came about?
I’m so lucky to be working with producer Michael Knox on this music. Before we went in we sat down to listen to some songs to record. He played “Ground I Grew Up On” for me and you could have sworn that it was written about me, except for the “Red Dirt”. We don’t have that here. “Let There Be Country” is just what we do. STJ’s Allegra Miles Moves on After Her Ride on ‘The Voice’ – Allegra Miles, who has roots on St. John, said she was disappointed that she didn’t make it to the finals on NBC’s Season 18 of “The Voice,” but ultimately, she wasn’t that upset and said she’s happy for the opportunity she had. “I got to make it on to the show, to the semifinals, and that was my dream for a long time. I’m grateful,” Allegra said, speaking from her home in Florida. Now that the “The Voice” Season 18 is over Allegra is focusing on producing her original music. Technically, everyone who is on the show – starting from the first 60 or 70 people who make it through the auditions – is under contract with NBC/Universal, she said. How far they get in the competition determines when they are released from their contract obligations. Allegra will have to wait until mid-June to release her next original single, and she’s hoping to follow it up soon with a collection of songs. – Read more at StCroixSource

‘Swedish Idol’ singer inspires others after barely surviving electrocution – He was electrocuted while subway-surfing and left with horrific scars — but that hasn’t stopped a man from appearing on “Swedish Idol” and becoming a role model for other burn victims. “It was the hardest time of my life, having to accept all this,” said Axel Schylstrom — who suffered third-degree burns over 70 percent of his body, including half his face — to the UK TV show “Shake My Beauty” in an episode that aired Sunday. Schylstrom said he listened to a lot of music while recovering in the hospital — and that’s what inspired him to go on Sweden’s version of “American Idol” in 2015, where he sang songs such as “Hang With Me.” “Once, I was so ashamed of myself that I just didn’t want to go out. I just wanted to sit inside and hide, and I didn’t want to see the face of myself in the mirror,” he said. “And suddenly, I’m on stage, and millions of people are watching me. And that’s just, if I can do that, I can do anything.” The special contestant came in fourth. – Read more at NYPost
