Caleb Kennedy to perform alongside Laine Hardy, Sam Hunt, Riley Green, more at Greenville Country Music Fest – Caleb Kennedy announced he will be performing at this year’s Greenville Country Music Fest to be held Sept. 11 at CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park in Simpsonville. “This is actually the first real, big concert I’ve been to,” Kennedy said. “And I’m going to be playing it. It’s crazy.” Kennedy says he is excited to receive backstage passes to meet the performers headlining the concert. Many are singers and songwriters he’s looked up to for years, and one particular song by Laine Hardy helped him while he was performing on American Idol. “This song (“Ground I Grew Up On”) reminded me of home when I was in California,” Kennedy said. “That song helped me so much. I would just listen to it over and over. Turns out Brandon Kinney was one of the lead writers on that song. I was able to meet him and write a song with him when I went to Nashville.” – Read more at GoUpstate

Brandon Leake speaks his mind about ‘AGT’ appearance – “I never saw myself winning. I knew if it was about the talent and the art, spoken word could go far,” Leake says. “But, oftentimes there is a lot more to it. Some of the most talented artists in the world never get the fame and acclaim that more catchy and hooky artists get. “I am not catchy nor hooky. I am just a really good writer and a really good performer. I was just going to have to see if that was enough to lean on.” Leake’s returning to the “America’s Got Talent” stage for a special performance scheduled for the Aug. 11 telecast. He promises an original work for his special appearance. – REad more at KGET.com

Chartbreaker: Inside Måneskin’s Unlikely, TikTok-Assisted Journey to Rock Stardom– “Bigger” has been the story for Måneskin (David and De Angelis, along with guitarist Thomas Raggi and drummer Ethan Torchio) since May, when the quartet took home top prize at the Eurovision Song Contest with the riotous rave-up “Zitti e buoni.” In the two months following that win, “Zitti” took off globally, reaching a No. 22 peak on the Billboard Global 200 songs chart. Meanwhile, their newer single, the stomping “I Wanna Be Your Slave,” proved even more explosive, rocketing all the way to No. 13 on the chart, and making waves with the gender-bending fashion and the inclusive sex-positivity of the song’s music video. However, it’s not either of these new songs, both found on the group’s 2021 album Teatro d’ira: Vol. I, that’s marked the group’s biggest global hit — or the lone song that’s broken them stateside onto the Billboard Hot 100. Rather, those honors belong to the band’s 2017 cover of The Four Seasons’ 1966 soul-pop hit “Beggin’,” which went unexpectedly viral on TikTok and crossed over to streaming services domestically and internationally. – Read more at Billboard
