HDD – Album Sales Prediction – Oct 11- 17

For something new this week, somebody other than a Country artist is topping the charts. Lil Wayne’s 8th studio album is overpowering the debut of Darius Rucker’s (formally Hootie) second Country album. If it seems a little odd that an album that was 17 last week is now number one, it’s because Wayne’s album was initially released digitally on Sept 7th and was released as a Physical CD last week. See, people do buy physical CDs these days.

Also debuting in the top 5 this week is “Big Time Rush”. Who? Well, this is a boy band on a Nickelodeon television show (challenging Disney and Glee in one swoop). You may recall that Jordin Sparks appeared on that show (episode “”Big Time Sparks”) and the album includes a song featuring her (“Count On You”). Idols are also featured on Santana’s album (Daughtry) and the latest NOW (Carrie).

Idols appearing with their own albums on the chart are Fantasia (currently at 25) and David Archuleta (currently at 44). Big Time Post!
