HDD – Album Sales Prediction : June 1-7

With 76.12% of reports in, it’s clear that Florence and the Machine are headed for their first number one album on the BB200. The group is expected to sell 120-130K of “How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful” and a handful of TEAs/SEAS (about another 5K). Their previous record on the chart is 6 (“Ceremonials” 2011), 14 (“Lungs” 2010), 51 (“MTV Unplugged” 2012) and 113 (“B-Sides” 2011). Nobody else will be close.

Currently in second (and likely to stay there) is Taylor Swift. “Bad Blood” has spurred sales of the albums and the single is topping the sales chart. Last week’s number one, A$AP Rocky is headed for the number 3 spot on both charts (sales and combined). Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard show that old guys can still represent for around 4th on the sales chart (but likely to tumble further down on the combined – their fans don’t seem to be big downloaders).

Also debuting on the Country chart is Billy Currington’s “Summer Forever” which is now at 5th. Pitch Perfect, featuring Pentatonix, is currently 6th and Lil Durk (rap) is debuting at 7th (but will likely move up a few slots on the final charts).

Jordin’s ex Justin Derulo is at 8th and is likely to debut 4th on the combined chart, but will be somewhere in the middle of the top 10 on the sales chart. Dude just can’t move albums despite getting lots of radio play. Ed Sheeran is riding his latest single “Photograph” to better sales and is 9th. Ed started off the album with “Sing” and “Don’t” to express a different side of himself, but “Photograph” was one of the songs he had in his back pocket to appeal to his existing fans. twenty|one|pilots rounds out the current top 10.

No reality singers in the top 50 (Adam’s album is coming out next week), but Now 54 at 12 features Tori Kelly, Kelly Clarkson and One Direction. The previous Now (Now 53) features One Direction at 36. The Empire Cast is at 43 and Voice judges are represented by Maroon 5 at 25.
