HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Nov 21-27

Final numbers are now in: Daughtr 130,015 (7), Scotty 89,522 (9), Kelly 42,554 (24), SuBo 34,835 (29), Jackie 32,883 (31), Landau 28,415 (34), James 25,833 (39)

With 38.13% reporting in, Canadians continue to dominate the top 5. Nickelback’s “Here and Now” is currently in first and is predicted to battle to stay there with Michael Buble’s second Christmas album which is currently in third. In between the two is Bieber’s Christmas album and coming in 4th is Drake’s second album “Take Care”. It’s East vs West in the battle for Black Friday chart dominance and it looks like the West is going to beat the East just like it did in the Grey Cup.

Leading the charge for Americans on their own chart is American Idol’s own. Daughtry’s third album “Break the Spell” is in fourth (and as the saying goes, fourth is the new first ;-). Seriously, not many acts can continue to sell this well into their third album. Next up is Scotty McCreery’s debut album “Clear as Day” which is selling well enough in its 8th week to be in 7th. The latest NOW, 40, contains songs from a number of artists (which is the point of the series) including American Idol Kelly Clarkson and Voice judges Adam and Christina. That album is at 8th. Rounding out the top 10 for Americans is Mary J Blige’s “My Life II-The Journey Continues” debuting at 10th.

Completing the top 10 altogether are Britain’s Adele currently at 6th and Barbado’s Rihanna currently debuting “Talk the Talk” at 9th (maybe if she didn’t release an album every November for the last three years, people might realize that she has a new one out). Interestingly, the top 10 consists of one person who goes only by her first name, two artists that only go by their middle name and one band named after the lead singer’s last name. Maybe Simon was onto something making Drew drop her last name.

Little Jackie Evancho leads her own charge of Got Talent alumni. Her Walmart exclusive Christmas album is currently at 12th. Britian’s Got Talent back-story extraordinaire Susan Boyle’s current album, “Someone to Watch Over Me”, is at 27th (where is Oprah when you need her?) and her 2010 Christmas album “The Gift” is not far behind at 31st. America’s Got Talent’s latest winner, Landau Eugene Murphy sits in the middle of those two albums at 29th.

Besides Daughtry and Scotty, there are also a number of Idols in the top 50. Kelly Clarkson’s famous duet with Jason Aldean is on his “My Kinda Party” album currently at 25th. Season 10’s fourth place finisher, James Durbin, is currently debuting in 32nd with his independently released “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster”. Carrie Underwood appears on a track on the “Now Christmas 4” album which sits at 34th. And finally, Kelly Clarkson’s latest album “Stronger” is in 36th. Getting time for a new single?

Now, let’s talk about “The Voice”. Sadly, there is no sign of winner Javier Colon whose album debuted this week. But, it was an awesome week for some of those judges. Adam’s Maroon 5 appeared on the AMAs (which helped to fuel the sales of a lot of albums this week) and have vaulted back up the chart to 17th. Fellow judge Blake’s “Red River Blue” continues to sell well at 23rd.

And Glee has a couple of Christmas albums on the chart at 37th and 45th.
