HDD – Album Sales Prediction : July 4-10

After weeks of Idol droughts earlier this year, I must say it is fun to see 5 Idols appearing in the HDD top 50 predictions. Now, only 55.94% of the market has reportedly, so they might not stay there, but still! Welcome back Idol.

Leading the Idol pack right now is Scotty McCreery with his S10 Highlights EP currently at 13th. This album is exclusive to Walmart, so obviously at least one of the Walmart sectors has reported in. If it is only one, he could be in for a very good first to second week drop. The same holds true for Lauren, Haley and James whose EPs are sitting at 19th, 22nd and 26th.

The only full length album out by an Idol that is in the top 50 is David Cook’s “This Loud Morning” which is currently at 25th. This album is available from all sorts of vendors and 55.94% of the market does not mean 55.94% of all albums sold, so it’s difficult to predict where this album will end up.

Idols are also featured on three albums. Naturally, as every week for yonks, Jason Aldean’s album featuring his duet with Kelly Clarkson is there. “My Kinda Party is currently holding down the number 3 spot. Carrie appears on the 12th and 14th album with a duet with Brad and a track on Now Country 4 respectively.

The top two spots on the chart are held by artists with one name who have albums with numbers as titles. Beyonce’s “4” and Adele’s “21” are expected to finish 1 and 2 for the week. Justin’s and Disney’s girl Selena Gomez is 4th. Meanwhile, Jackie Evancho is proving that she can sell more than Christmas songs and Opera ditties with her current album currently at 5th. Jill Scott and Now 38 are 6th and 7th. Justin Moore just has the number one song on Country radio and his album reflects that because it is now at 8th.

As last week started with the July 4th holiday, most labels held out on releasing new albums. One of the few released is Lloyd’s “King of Hearts” and it is the top debut at 9th. Lady Gaga fights her way back into the top 10 for now.
