With only 31.77% of vendors reporting, HDD had a slow day yesterday. With Jackie up at 6th and Country sales a little low across the board, I think Amazon and Borders have reported in but Walmart has not (Scotty missing is another big clue). Meanwhile, it would seem iTunes has reported.
Out to a brisk and convincing lead are Jay Z and Kayne West (that’s not going to do much to deflate Kayne’s ego, is it?). They have already sold 6 times the next highest album, Luke Bryan’s “Tailgates and Tanlines” (which features the much beloved single “Country Girl” *cough*). Next up is Now 39 during it’s debut week. Is this the longest stretch of Idol free Now’s we’ve had in a while (not including the genre version, “Now Country”)?
Adele is outside of the top 3 for the first time since its release. What an amazing run. Ace Hood is in 5th, Kidz Bop shows it’s legs at 7th and the Glee 3D Movie album throws up better ordinals than the movie itself by coming in 8th. Despite initially struggling to find a lead-off single that works, Beyonce is still in the top 10 at 9th.
No solo Idols, but our two leading Idol winners have duets on two albums on the chart. Kelly Clarkson duets with Jason Aldean to help “My Kinda Party to 10th and Carrie Underwood is assisting Brad Paisley’s “This is Country Music” be 22nd.
