HDD – Album Sales Prediction : Apr 18-24

HDD’s site isn’t displaying numbers this morning, so we’ll go with the numbers Pam kindly posted in the Mediabase thread yesterday (thanks Pam!)

But first, here is a nice reference HDD had about Haley in yesterday’s mini-prediction they posted yesterday:

ROLLING IN THE GLEEKS: Adele’s XL/Columbia album, 21, continues to surge, set to return to #1 tomorrow with a total that looks around 150k, more than a 50% jump over last week, thanks, of course, to Easter weekend, but also because of a pair of cover versions on Glee and American Idol. Gwyneth Paltrow’s take on “Turning Tables, ” from last week’s Glee, sold almost 50k downloads in its first week, as did Adele’s original version, up from 4, 000 the week before. In addition, the current single, “Rolling in the Deep, ” was up 100%, from 140k to 280k, thanks also to a performance by Haley Reinhart on last week’s American Idol. The pre-emptive Grammy front-runner and sales leader is being called the biggest phenomenon since the days of Alanis Morissette, leading industry insiders to wonder aloud, “Can Adele save the record business?” (4/25p)

After one-day sales last Tuesday, HDD was predicting Adele would sell 115K, so the album itself saw a 35K higher jump during the week. And Haley helped to double the sales of “Rollin in the Deep”. WOW.

Okay, with 54.98% reporting, Adele continues to dominate the chart. Walt Disney’s “Lemonade Mouth” (????) has vaulted up from 15th last week to 2nd this week (????). The Warblers are in 3rd and HDD thinks they’ll finish around 75-85K. Foo Fighters move to 4th and Britney closes out the top 5.

Jennifer Hudson has fallen down to 26th right now (never annoy Oprah, she will get her revenge). Kelly’s duet on Jason Aldean’s album is helping to keep it in the top 10 (8th).

This is the daily numbers thread. Warble a post or two.
