Harry Styles Wins Big at 2023 BRIT Awards, Thanks One Direction

Harry Styles 2023 Brit Awards

Harry Styles continued his winning ways at the 2023 BRIT Awards, which took place in London, on Saturday (Feb 11).

The pop singer won in all four nominated categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Harry’s House, Song of the Year for “As it Was” and Pop/R&B Artist.

When accepting the award for Artist of the Year, Harry thanked his mum, and his One Direction band mates.

“I want to thank my mum for signing me up for X Factor without telling me, so, I literally wouldn’t be here without you,” Harry shared. “I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam and Zayn, because I wouldn’t be here without you either. Thank you so much.”

Notably, while Harry credits X Factor UK with his success, he didn’t mention the show’s creator, Simon Cowell, who helped put the band together in the first place.

One Direction became worldwide stars after X Factor

Harry and Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik all auditioned as solo artists for the X Factor UK in 2010. Initially all five artist were eliminated, but the judges eventually put them together as the band One Direction. The group finished the competition in 3rd place.

While the quintet didn’t win the show, they went on to become a wildly popular boy band, releasing five album and selling out concerts all over the world, before they went on “hiatus” to pursue solo careers.

Harry’s wins at the BRIT Awards comes only a week after winning the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2023 Grammys.

“This album from start to finish has been the greatest experience of my life,” Harry said after accepting the Pop Album award. “[it] has been the greatest joy I could have asked for.”

Like he did on the Grammys, Harry performed his hit song “As it Was” on the BRIT Awards. Watch below.
