  1. OMG she’s horrible
my 10 yr old…”people like her because of all the skin she shows” lmao

  2. ohh what do they mean by “key” nominations???

Probably “Album of the Year”, “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year” and “Best New Artist”. Maybe the Pop categories and a token one (album?) from each of the genres such as Country, Rock, etc.

I’m betting we don’t hear a word about the Polka nominees at the concert.

  3. OMG she’s horrible

I’m going to assume that you are talking about Katie because she usually is when she tries to sing.

  4. Is there a live stream? As usual, they refuse to show this stuff live to us on the West Coast. Why, I have no clue. It’s annoying…

  5. I hope that Justin Bieber doesn’t end up getting a lot of nominations.Especially in the really big categories.

  6. Wonder if Nigel Lythgoe is watching one of the biggest pop stars right now playing guitar and giving a good performance.

  7. my 10 yr old. “Is he wearing glasses because he’s on cocaine, Mom?”

Her commentary is better than the show. LOL

  8. Probably “Album of the Year”, “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year” and “Best New Artist”. Maybe the Pop categories and a token one (album?) from each of the genres such as Country, Rock, etc.

URGGGG maybe I’ll wait and see it tomorrow.

  9. Bruno Mars was FABULOUS. That performance made up for that horrid Katy Perry dreck, and then some. Wow.

  10. Bruno Mars was FABULOUS.

I don’t know about fabulous but I do love that song.

  11. Lololol, Dave Grohl and Selena Gomez were so awkward.

And Katy Perry = bad. Bruno Mars = amazing.

  12. Aren’t they supposed to be announcing nominees? I need a live stream. Curse you Charles F. Dowd and your time zones! (j/k)

  13. Bruno Mars is incredible. Wow.

I hope that Justin Bieber doesn’t end up getting a lot of nominations, especially for the really big categories.

I think you can count on a couple at least.

  14. Beg Steal Or Borrow” by Babyshambles

Wow I must be really out of the main stream world I never even heard of this song. Was it that big. All the others I definitely heard but not this one.

I just listened to the song on youtube and i don’t think its even that great of a song. I would take WWFM or LLWD over this. But that is just me

  15. To quote Jim Cantiello at the sight of Pat Monahan and Train… NO.

  16. YAY Miranda Lambert!!

I’m so happy for her and the songwriters of that FABULOUS song!! Definitely deserved the nod.

  17. Song of the Year nominations are: “Beg Steal Or Borrow” by Babyshambles, “F*ck You” by Cee Lo Green, “The House that Built Me” by Miranda Lambert, “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem, “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum

Woah. Two country songs for SoY? No straight up Pop songs? Interesting (indie Rock, R&B/Funk/Hip Hop and Rap)

  18. Oh God just because someone can sell albums doesn’t make them the Best New Artist. Justin Beiber so This is considered best of what we got. Just NO! I hope Florence and the Machine get it.

  19. yay for Florence & the Machine and Mumford & Sons getting Best New Artist noms \o/ \o/ \o/

  20. WWFM cannot be nominated for song of the year. The song was not on the ballot. The label put Adam’s For Your Entertainment and If I Had You on the ballet for eligibility. Obviously these 2 songs were not as successful & would have never had a chance to get nominated.

  21. smeggingnuts:

Thank god not Subo for BNA

    Hallelujah!!!!

  22. I doubt Biebs will win best new artist. At least I hope not, hah.

  23. WOW …….. 2 Canadians up for BNA!!!

….and I like Biebs……not just because he comes from a small town not far from me but because I just do. I think he’s adorable. Miranda Lambert hurts my ears.

  24. I was thinking as much as I hate to admit it Adam’s AMA performance most likely hurt any chance of any nomination. It was frowned on too much by the establishment. Could be why he said a Grammy for his second album. One good thing about the establishment they can be forgiving. :-) Oh well. (there is a small chance on Best male vocal pop but I am thinking no) :-(

  25. Now Nigel is really salivating over finding another Bieber…

    Bruno was awesome!

  26. Wow I must be really out of the main stream world I never even heard of this song. Was it that big. All the others I definitely heard but not this one.

I hadn’t heard of this song before either. I’m not impressed after listening to it on youtube. I would have liked to see Dog Days Are Over or Little Lion Man instead.

  27. OOHHH, Esperanza Spalding. That is a pleasant surprise. I like Florence and the Machine and Mumford and Sons as well.

  28. Adam’s WWFM wasn’t eligible for “Song of the year”. But it can get a nomm for “Record Of The Year”, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” and “Best Short Form Music Video”. :D

  29. sleepwalkergirl:
    12/01/2010 at 10:28 pm
Adam’s WWFM wasn’t eligible for “Song of the year”. But it can get a nomm for “Record Of The Year”, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” and “Best Short Form Music Video”.

It was eligible, it just wasn’t submitted by RCA.

  30. I agreed with “dhunken”. The best chance for an Idol allumni to get nods from the grammys are Carrie, Kelly, Fantasia and Daughtry.

I’m keeping my hopes up for Adam to get a nomm but his chances are close to none.

  31. I wonder why they are going to announce the nomination for “Album of The Year”, before they announce noms for “Record of The Year”. I have always though that “Album of the Year” was considered a bigger category. I would have thought that they would have saved announcement of nominations for “Album of Year” last.

  32. yay for Florence & the Machine and Mumford & Sons getting Best New Artist noms \o/ \o/ \o/

    This makes me feel better.

  33. Now Nigel is really salivating over finding another Bieber…

He stopped now that Justin is showing that he’s just another WGWG. He’s not even dancing around, he’s sitting on a seat and playing guitar.

  34. Shocked (but happy) that Kesha didn’t get a nom.

What Idol really needs is to find a Bruno Mars. But good luck with that.

  35. No, the thought is that because it was written by P!Nk and the writer gets the Grammy. She submitted Glitter in the Air. So as not to compete with her submission?

  36. I wonder why they are going to announce the nomination for “Album of The Year”, before they announce noms for “Record of The Year”.

What is the difference between these two awards? Doesn’t album = record?

  37. What the hell is Stevie wearing? It looks like a cross between a monks robe and a ninja suit. :D

  38. I”m shoked that Gaga didn’t get one for song of the year.

Katy Perry’s album got a nomm? Really?

  39. Outside of Bieber, I am sooo pleased with the best new artist nominees. Four high quality acts.

  40. Record = single

OK, then what’s the difference between “song of the year” and “record of the year “?

  41. Katy Perry??? I am a fan, but her album as album of the year???? No way!
Eminem will get the 2 categories he has been nominated in so far, the others are just fillers.

  42. OK, then what’s the difference between “song of the year” and “record of the year “?

Song of the year goes to the writers, record of the year to the performers.

  43. OK, then what’s the difference between “song of the year” and “record of the year “?

Song of the year is a writing award. Record of the year is a performer award.

  44. Best New Artist nominee, Justin Bieber takes the stage to perform. He’s playing guitar. *snort*.

MJ, you really make me laugh! That was the best.

  45. Song of the year goes to the writers, record of the year to the performers.

    Thanks! :)

  46. I don’t think that Katy should have gotten a nomination for “Album of The Year”. I don’t think that Lady Antebellum “Need You Now” is the best album from this year, but I’m not surprised about it getting a nomination for “Album of The Year”.

I think it was due to a combination of album sales/single sales and their songs being well received in the music industry.
I don’t really care for Eminem that much, but I wonder if this year he might end up winning “Album of The Year”. He has had a couple of nominations in the past in this category, but didn’t win. I wonder if he might actually win this year.

  47. I think it’s interesting how almost all of the nominations in the “Record of The Year” category are R&B and Hip Hop artists.

  48. I can’t believe a song called “F*ck You” is nominated for Song of the Year. IMO that’s just ridiculous.

  49. Yay Carrie! Temporary Home is a great song, but I think that is Miranda’s award to lose. It is cool though she had been nominated for a grammy every single year she has been eligible. 5 years in a row!

  50. Song of the year goes to the writers, record of the year to the performers.

Record of the year is also awarded to the production team.

  51. I guess Adam’s best chance is at Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. A small chance may I add. Justin Bieber will probably win this category anyway LOL

  52. Lady A just got noms for Song, Record, and Album. Niiiiiice. They were nominated for BNA a couple of years back.

  53. I can’t believe a song called “F*ck You” is nominated for Song of the Year. IMO that’s just ridiculous.

Have you heard it? It is a great R&B throwback song. One of my favorites of the year.

  54. tripp_ncwy:

Best Female Country Vocal Performance no Taylor Swift?

    Your’e kidding, right?

  55. I think that Sade had much better album than Katy Perry.JMO.

I agree. Their album sold well, plus received good reviews. I think they would have been a nice selection for an “Album of The Year” nomination.

  56. Congrats to ADam on his Nomination

    Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
HAVEN’T MET YOU YET – Michael Bublé
THIS IS IT – Michael Jackson
WHATAYA WANT FROM ME – Adam Lambert
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE – Bruno Mars
HALF OF MY HEART – John Mayer

  57. The Grammys used to be a lot more discriminating. I really like Katy Perry but album of the year? Seriously? And the fact that Justin Bieber is nominated for anything just makes me ill. There’s a lot better music out there that was overlooked.

I also really like Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now but hasn’t that album made the rounds already? Weren’t they nominated for best new artist last year? It just seems like it’s time to move on.

  58. F*ck You is a really great song.

Katy getting a AOTY nom makes me think there good be more surprises tonight.

Congrats to Carrie! Miranda is taking that one though..

  59. OMG!! You are not trying to give me heart attack?? Adam got nom??:)))))))))))))))))))))))

  60. Lol, Susan Boyle got her nomination!

    Best Pop Vocal Album
MY WORLD 2.0 – Justin Bieber
    I DREAMED A DREAM – Susan Boyle
THE FAME MONSTER – Lady Gaga
    BATTLE STUDIES – John Mayer
    TEENAGE DREAM – Katy Perry

  61. certain1:

Congrats to ADam on his Nomination

    Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
HAVEN’T MET YOU YET – Michael Bublé
THIS IS IT – Michael Jackson
WHATAYA WANT FROM ME – Adam Lambert
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE – Bruno Mars
HALF OF MY HEART – John Mayer

In my opinion, they could have left Michael Jackson and Michael Buble off the list.

  62. Fantasia’s Back to Me was nominated for best R&B album, and the songwriters of Bittersweet were nominated for R&B song. And she was nominated for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for Bittersweet.

  63. Holy shit Adam got a nom!!! Yay!!!! But WTF with Katy perry getting an album nod? And no record of the year for bad romance. Huh

  64. In addition to Carrie and Adam (congrats!) there is:

    Fantasia
    Best R&B Song
BITTERSWEET – Charles Harmon & Claude Kelly, songwriters (Fantasia)

    Best R&B Album
    BACK TO ME – Fantasia

    Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
    BITTERSWEET – Fantasia

    Glee

Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals
DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’ (REGIONALS VERSION) – Glee Cast

    Yay, Fantasia has several nominations!

Alright, so happy for Fantasia. I love her album.

  66. Congrats to Adam and Fantasia on their nominations. :)

I know that there was some mixed feelings on “Bittersweet”, but I like that song and think it’s one of the best songs off her album.

  67. Yay for Adam getting nominated. I wasn’t counting on him getting this, which makes it even more exciting!

Congrats to Carrie and Fantasia as well!

  68. Yeah! Congrats to Carrie, Adam and Fantasia for their nominations! Great for The Idol franchise.

  69. Adam!!!!!!! I’m so excited for him – can’t wait to hear his reaction. To borrow luv’s line: squuueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! :) I can’t believe I fell asleep while they made the announcement – thanks for the thread, mj!!!!!! Congrats to Carrie and Fantasia too!

  70. Have you heard it? It is a great R&B throwback song. One of my favorites of the year.

I agree. When I first heard about the song and that title I figured it would be stupid but then I actually heard it and was surprised it was so good.

  71. I still can’t believe it. Comgrats to Adam, Carrie and Fantasia!

  72. All 3 got nods! I’m so excited! Now I can go to bed :)
    Congrtas Adam, Fanny and Carrie!

  73. So Adam gets a nom, Yay!!!! but he’s up against Michael Jackson! wowza I bet Michael takes it.

  74. I am so happy that Adam got nominated. Yay!!!! And happy for Fantasia and Carrie. Not so much for Susan Boyle.

  75. Wooooooooohooooooooo! Mr. Lambert received a Grammy nom! I also wanted for him to get a best new artist, but I’m thrilled for his nomination. :-)

  76. Elliegrll:
    12/01/2010 at 11:10 pm
Susan Boyle was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album

I just cannot wrap my brain around this one.

  77. So there is some justice in the world.. Adam, Carrie and Fanny. At least Grammy didn’t go for hype. Well..almost .

  78. YaY, ADAM, FANTASIA, and CARRIE! Congratulations. Too bad idol is obsolete…..

I am so glad especially for Adam and Fantasia. I think Fantasia should dust off her mantle right now, because I think she will walk about with one for sure. Just going to bask in Adam’s nomination right now. Can’t take that away from him, ever!

  79. Congrats to Adam. :D I like WWFM a lot.

Also, I’m so happy Mumford and Sons got nominated! I’m wondering how much their VH1 vid. has had to do with their selling albums. I love their sound!

  80. I was pretty happy with most of the nominations in the major categories — and that almost never happens when it comes to me and music award shows. A few WTF type noms, but on the whole, not bad…not bad at all :)

  81. So Adam gets a nom, Yay!!!! but he’s up against Michael Jackson! wowza I bet Michael takes it.

Bruno Mars is a lock for that award isn’t he?
Carrie has an outside shot (Miranda is favorite).
I don’t know about Fantasia, after looking at her categories, there doesn’t seem to be a clear cut winner.

  82. Abbysee so with you on Fanny. I feel like it has taken her a minute to get it all to click musically and this time she truly got it right. This exacty the type of music she should be making. And Adam really did have one of the best male pop vocals of the year, Its just nice to see them both get recognized. Yay!

  83. So was Kesha completely shut out? I admit she churns out hooky pop songs, but the girl cannot sing. I was ready to be so disappointed if she was nominated.

In terms of best male pop vocal, I think it is really between Mars and Buble, although Adam could be a surprise (it’s the voice)

  84. I really hope Fantasia finally wins a Grammy. It is long overdue IMO. Congrats to Adam as well for receiving his first Grammy nomination. Well deserved!

  85. All the Idol folks I thought would get nominated were. I’m super hyped up about Fantasia. I love her album. I hope she wins at least one of the three categories she’s nominated for.

I never followed Fantasia but I’m guessing she’s been nominated before but has never won? Unless I’m wrong, I think only Kelly, J Hud and Carrie have actually won Grammys although other Idol folks have been nominated before.

  86. OMG!!!! I’m sooooooo happy for Adam!!! He deserved being recognized for the quality of his vocals.

  87. So happy Adam got a Grammy nod! I doubt he will win but then I doubted he would be nominated too so who knows?

  88. In terms of best male pop vocal, I think it is really between Mars and Bube, although Adam could be a surprise (it’s the voice)

I think John Mayer has a shot too, he has won the award 4 of the last 7 years

ETA and I guess you never know when it comes to Michael Jackson. I could see each person winning that category.

  89. Glee got nommed..lmao That is sad.

Congrats to all the idols esp Fantasia.

  90. pineappletree:
Glee got nommed..lmao That is sad.

    This is true.

I don’t know why all of you were nervous. I think it was a lock that Carrie, Fantasia, and Adam would get nominated. Now, I don’t know about Carrie and Adam, but it looks like Fantasia might actually win.

  91. If you have to lose, lose to Michael Jackson. Not bad. Congratulations Adam!

  92. Fabulous news for Adam!!! At least he’ll be attending, whether he wins or not! Will be fabulous to see him walk down that red carpet!! Yay!!! :D

  93. MJ, Fantasia got three nominations. Her album Back To Me was also nominated as R&B album of the year. Buy it everyone. It’s great. My favorite Idol album ever. :)

  94. Yeah Adam is nominated for best male pop vocal performance. I love being wrong :-)

  95. O.M.G. I can’t believe it! ADAAAAMMMM!!! He must be in cloud9 right now.

  96. I don’t know how the vote works or what the criteria is but this will be the last chance to honor Michael Jackson right? So I think some people may have a hard time voting objectively given Michaels body of work, the popularity of his work and that he is deceased. I could be wrong of course. Curious what the press/industry will say or who they pick to win.

  97. One could guess that Adam’s dad has heard the news. His dad tweets:

    milestougeaux

    YES!!!!!!!!

  98. I never followed Fantasia but I’m guessing she’s been nominated before but has never won?

Yep. She has several Grammy nominations under her belt, but unfortunately the timing just wasn’t right for her to win. I think this will be her year though. I’ll be shocked if she doesn’t go home with at least one award this time.

  99. So happy for Adam. I so love WWFM so I’M super excited. It’s such a great song, and so much fun.

  100. Well here’s another award show I won’t be watching. Not that anyone would care…lol

  101. So happy for Adam! :)

Is there any chance Adam will be asked to perform?

  102. So happy for Adam, Fantasia and Carrie!! I haven’t picked up Fantasias album yet, but I just added it to my Xmas list based on your recommendations!

Just think, last year Adam was covering the Grammy red carpet for ET and this year he’s nominated!

  103. Congrats to Adam, Carrie, Fantasia

Wow, Fantasia- way to go. She has the best chance I think of bagging one of those awards!

  104. listen:

    So happy for Adam!

Is there any chance Adam will be asked to perform?

    From Twitter:
OH MY GOODNESS GUYS. RCA ED SAID THEY ARE TRYING TO GET ADAM A SLOT TO –PERFORM– AT THE GRAMMY AWARDS. PERFORM AT THE GRAMMYS @adamlambert

  105. Bruno Mars is a lock for that award isn’t he?

If you looked at what Universal did with their artists, they only pushed one in each of the Pop Vocal Performance categories. If they do the same with the voting, the winners should be Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Maroon 5.

  106. Is there any chance Adam will be asked to perform?

    No. Unless they want ratings.

  107. Woohoo! Congrats, Adam!

Tweets are messaging that RCAEd is saying they’ll work hard to get him a performance spot. But just seeing him on the red carpet will be great.

  108. WooooooHoooooo!! I’m so thrilled for Adam!! This is SO great, and he SO deserves it. I didn’t let myself hope too hard for a nomination so as not to be disappointed, but I really really wanted him to get recognized for his talent. Of course I wanted him to get Best New Artist, etc. too, but I’ll definitely take Best Pop Vocal. Fantastic!!

He’s in Paris right now and it’s 5:52am there at the moment — so he probably doesn’t even know yet, or maybe he’s about to get a phone call… :-D

And can I just say LOL at Susan Boyle getting a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album? Oh please, give me a break.

Oh, and congratulations to Fantasia and Carrie too! Especially Fantasia.

  109. Dr Luke and Rob Cavello also got Grammy noms for FYE – Music Again, SureFireWinners, Soaked, TimeForMiracles, and FYE!!

    What does this mean??

  110. Twitter is hilarious:

TATTOO50: RT @n0tt000bs3ss3d: @adamlambert WAKE THE FUCK UP. I SWEAR TO GOD YOU ARE THE ONLY INTL PLATINUM ARTIST WHO CAN SLEEP THROUGH YOUR OWN FIRST GRAMMY NOMINATION!!

  111. CONGRATULATIONS to Fantasia, Carrie, Adam and Susan on their Grammy nominations!

  112. What does this mean??

They’re nominated for Producer of the Year and those are a few of the songs listed that they produced.

  113. Aw, I’m happy for Susan. She’s not my cup of tea but good for her. For some reason I watched her BGT audition again the other night and I have to admit I got a little misty eyed watching it. I’m not interested in buying her music but I’m a sucker for a good rags-to-riches success story.

  114. Congrats to the three Idols, Carrie, Fantasia and Adam. Out of the three, Fantasia is a sure thing. I would love for Adam to win, but Bruno is going to win easily. I think he will be ecstatic to be nominated.

  115. Rob cavallo and dr Luke were both nominated for producer of the year based at least in part on their contributions to Adams fye cd ( the songs on fye that they produced are listed with their nominations). Kinda cool

  116. Fullmoon:
    12/01/2010 at 11:53 pm

Dr Luke and Rob Cavello also got Grammy noms for FYE – Music Again, SureFireWinners, Soaked, TimeForMiracles, and FYE!!

    What does this mean??

They got nominated for Producer of the year. As part of their nomination, songs they produced are part of the submission for nomination. Cavallo’s submissions include Surefire Winners, Soaked and TFM. Dr. Luke’s included FYE.

    Here’s the nomination page: http://twitpic.com/3c35m0

  117. sr4mjc:
Dr Luke and Rob Cavello also got Grammy noms for FYE – Music Again, SureFireWinners, Soaked, TimeForMiracles, and FYE!!

Fantastic! So you mean they got producer nominations? Cavello produced MA, SFW, Soaked, and TFM. Dr. Luke produced FYE (the song).

ETA: Haha I see that my question has already been answered, thanks. This thread is flying fast tonight! :-)

  118. Adam is probably as surprised as anybody. I don’t think he had any idea this could be coming. He said in a recent interview that he hoped he would get nominated for something on his next album.

  119. but Bruno is going to win easily. I think he will be ecstatic to be nominated.

    luv him!

  120. OMG……I am speechless! So happy that Adam gets a nomination finally after being snubbed for the other awards. Was preparing myself for dissapointment. Congratulations Adam Lambert – you go boy! :)

  121. Wow … Congrats to ADAM!!!! what great news to come home to. Being an eternal optimist, I would never count Adam out. The first step was getting nominated. Now if he can perform at the Grammy show, that’s the icing on the cake. :)

  122. but Bruno is going to win easily. I think he will be ecstatic to be nominated.

Am I the only one that does not like JTWYA? I hated it the first time I heard it and then I heard all this buzz about Bruno and couldn’t believe he was the singer of this song that I intensely disliked, LOL! Actually my daughter can’t stand it either, oh well.

  123. I don’t think Adam will win, but it may not be a lock for Bruno. I think he’s a lock to win a grammy, but he’s nominated for 7 categories, I think. Voters may split their votes between categories. I think he’s still the front-runner, but Michael Jackson’s nomination may trump all of them.

  124. I’m not just so happy for Adam, but for all his fans too.
Adam so deserves it, and we so deserve to witness his success.

  125. I’m so over subo. Loved the initial clip of her and good for her. I’m the joked about demographic that might buy her album, but no thanks. So I might buy the Neil Diamond album for my almost 70 year old mom.

I think I might download the whatever the heck G6 song. ha ha!

  126. I bet they give out Male Pop Vocal on the telecast and it’ll go to Michael Jackson and they’ll give it to his kids.

but Bruno is going to win easily. I think he will be ecstatic to be nominated.

Am I the only one that does not like JTWYA?

Please spell out the acronym! I’m lost. hee hee

  128. cwm: He’s in Paris right now and it’s 5:52am there at the moment — so he probably doesn’t even know yet, or maybe he’s about to get a phone call…

cwm..how come Adam’s in Paris?? I thought he’d gone home to LA along with the rest of the band and dancers??

    What does this mean??

They’re nominated for Producer of the Year and those are a few of the songs listed that they produced.

    Thank you!

  130. Adam was nominated so yes he has a chance. Maybe he won’t win but he does have a chance.

Congrats to Adam on his Nomination

    Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
HAVEN’T MET YOU YET – Michael Bublé
THIS IS IT – Michael Jackson
WHATAYA WANT FROM ME – Adam Lambert
JUST THE WAY YOU ARE – Bruno Mars
HALF OF MY HEART – John Mayer

In my opinion, they could have left Michael Jackson and Michael Buble off the list.

ITA…John Mayer can go, too. That would leave Adam and Bruno Mars, two of the most talented male singers today. Luv both of them!

OMG……I am speechless! So happy that Adam gets a nomination finally after being snubbed for the other awards. Was preparing myself for dissapointment. Congratulations Adam Lambert – you go boy! :)

He’s so new to all of this main stream attention. He’s doing great.

  133. Also great for carrie and Fantasia.I forgot about them to. And I love carrie so am happy for her. And am not that big of a Fantasia fan but still happy for her fans.

I bet they give out Male Pop Vocal on the telecast and it’ll go to Michael Jackson and they’ll give it to his kids.

I think this is what will happen too as someone else said this will be probably the last time for them to honor Michael. This song wasn’t that great and really shouldn’t have been nominated but its Michael and he will win based on his whole body of work plus many still miss him and will want to honor him. I think this category this year is where the phrase “Its just great being nominated” fits perfectly. Plus Adam will be ecstatic being nominated with one of his Idols MJ. Plus he really digs Bruno Mars.

  135. cwm..how come Adam’s in Paris?? I thought he’d gone home to LA along with the rest of the band and dancers??

He’s doing album promo, it just came out Nov 8th there.

  136. sr4mjc: He’s doing album promo, it just came out Nov 8th there.

Thanks :) I did wonder why he hadn’t tweeted about being back home in LA, like the other’s had.

LK3 — I see that sr4mjc answered your question, but yes — Adam went back to Paris after he finished the UK shows in order to do album promo there. The FYE album just got released in France, and he apparently had a lot of interviews lined up today. I don’t know when he’s due to return to the US.

  138. “just the way you are” pretty much melts me to the seat of my car (which is when I listen to the radio)!!!!10 year old also loves it (we are the romantics in the family), 15 year old despises this song because it reminds her of a past love. Please pass the hankie. (so I can vomit)…..

  139. I think he will be ecstatic to be nominated.

    ITA, bridgette12. I know I’m ecstatic! :)

  140. He was wearing a plaid shirt that had french cuffs in a photo today, LOL

  141. I am so looking forward to seeing/hearing Adam introduced as “Grammy-nominated artist Adam Lambert” rather than “Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.” Wooohooo!! :-D

  142. Nothing gives me more pleasure than imagining how VFTW must be pissed now…hahahaha…

    thanks cwm :)

Looking forward to seeing him walking the red the carpet. Wonder what he’ll wear? ;)

Also, thrilled for Bruno Mars. What a great year he’s had. Love him.

And, I looove Eninem, so I hope he walks away with something.

  144. Nothing gives me more pleasure than imagining how VFTW must be pissed now…hahahaha…

    Hehe

Somehow they will turn it into a disadvantage to his career, lol.

  145. Winners are presented with the Grammy Award and those who do not win are given a medal for their nomination.

In both voting rounds, Academy members are to vote based upon quality alone. They are not supposed to be influenced by sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences or company loyalty.

  146. I really think this is a milestone for Adam. Those people who were waiting for his 15 minutes of fame to be over better get ready for 15+ years of fame.

  147. # Susan Boyle for Best Pop Vocal Album, I Dreamed a Dream

Every year, the Grammys nominate something that makes me think “That’s it. They’ve lost all credibility”. This is the nomination this year.

  148. I am so looking forward to seeing/hearing Adam introduced as “Grammy-nominated artist Adam Lambert” rather than “Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.”

Oh, yeah!!! Don’t like the pageant title.

  149. FINALLY some justice LOL. Thank God the Grammy committee was smart and decided not to snub him…I have a feeling the nom had to with the AMA ratings being so low lol This is just fantastic news, not just because of the nomination but because he could very well be given a slot to perform. All or most of the nominees get to perform so I’m crossing my fingers for that :)
It doesnt matter at this point if he doesn’t win, imho its about the recognition and getting to see him be at the ceremony because he truly has worked his butt off performing and promoting his album.
Giving the award to Michael Jackson seems like a strong possibility but I could also see Bruno Mars winning (absolutely love JTWYA and I think he deserves his success as well)…it would actually be really cool if they let Adam perform and he incorporated some sort of tribute to Michael, I mean if anybody can pull that off its Adam…if his management or whoever is trying to get him a slot to perform works that angle I think he might have a chance. This is a very good opportunity for him. I’m glad he got it. I would have also liked that he be nominated for Best new artist but whatever.
Congrats to Carrie and Fantasia as well :) both great singers in their own right. Oh and its cool they nominated Adam’s producers. Hope they win too :)

  150. In both voting rounds, Academy members are to vote based upon quality alone. They are not supposed to be influenced by sales, chart performance, personal friendships, regional preferences or company loyalty.

    I really, really hope so…

  151. Gaga can’t get out of her digital coffin to tweet about being in the same category as SuBo, LOL

SuBo really should have been in the traditional Pop category with Manilow.

Go Sara B for Female Pop!

  152. CindyM — thanks for posting that gif from the MyBliss interview. Perfect! I thought of that interview too, when I pictured him reacting to the news. :-)

  153. am so looking forward to seeing/hearing Adam introduced as “Grammy-nominated artist Adam Lambert” rather than “Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.”

OMG YESSSSS. The former sounds so much better.

  154. SuBo really should have been in the traditional Pop category with Manilow.

That entire category is all over the place: Bieber, Subo, Gaga, Katy P and John Mayer.
Can’t believe these five are nominated for the same award.

  155. If Adam gets to perform I hope he will perform his own music unless the gets to do something extra for MJ also. If not, he needs to show his talent for his music. Who knows when he would get a chance to perform on an award show again.

  156. I agree that if subo was to be nominated at all it should have been in the traditional pop vocal category with manilow, Mathis, Stewart, buble. That would seem the most natural category. But hey. Mumford & sons little lion man was nominated in the rock category. So WTF Grammys.

  157. And, I looove Eninem, so I hope he walks away with something.

I think he’s walking away with a handful that night. He’ll probably even finally win the big one, too. Did you see that list for Album of the Year? Why don’t they just give that to him now?

  159. I agree that if subo was to be nominated at all it should have been in the traditional pop vocal category with manilow, Mathis, Stewart, buble. That would seem the most natural category.

Yep. I can’t understand SuBo in straight Pop. Shouldn’t you at least have a chance of getting a song played on Pop radio to be a Pop album? I could have accepted Traditional Pop. At least Buble gets his songs consistently on Pop radio.

  160. Nothing gives me more pleasure than imagining how VFTW must be pissed now…hahahaha…

I’m not sure they care. They survived Daughtry getting 4 Grammy nominations (and winning all sorts of other awards) and they were definitely not in Chris’s camp that year (and some of the names they had for him were quite OTT).

Now that I’ve recovered from SuBo’s nomination. Congrats to all the Idols that got nominated. And the Glee cast ones are interesting.

  161. One of the best things is that the Grammy nom may push his album numbers up and the show even more so!

  162. OMG im soooo excited!! i really really really did not expect adam to be nominated after all those snubs from every other award show!! im so happy i could cry! Lol

ooh and congrats to Carrie and Fantasia!

and i looooove Bruno Mars, so great to see him finally get some recognition!

    THIS ^

  164. Adam now is the 10th idol nominated for a grammy. I was surprised because I thought several more were nominated, but only Kelly, Ruben, Fantasia, JHud, Carrie, Daughtry, Ace, Mandisa, and Jordin have been nominated. Every idol season has a grammy nominee now except 7 and 9. Carrie and Fantasia are tied for the most nominations at 8. Only Carrie, Kelly, and Jennifer have won. Carrie won 5 times, Kelly 2 times, and Jennifer once. Of what are considered the “major” grammy awards (BNA, Record, Song, Album) Carrie is the only nominee and winner for BNA, although two of her songs (JTTW, BHC) were nominated for Song of the year (these aren’t her nominations because Song of the year goes to the writers). That ends your little idol grammy lesson lol.

  165. just looked at the full list of nominations. Some interesting choices.
I agree Sarah Bareilles should win for best female PVP. LOL @ Susan Boyle being nominated. This was clearly influences by her sales more than anything else…I bet they didnt even listen to the song(s) she was nominated for hehe.
Question: who is Esperanza Spalding? She is nominated for best new artist and I have no idea who she is LOL. anyone know?
Also, why did they nominate Beyonce again?? She already won a bunch of grammys last year…wth?? Besides, that track has been out for more than a year already, I am wrong?
Funny how they nominated Sade in the duo or group with vocals category…Guess they wanted to fit her in somewhere. Her new cd is great btw. Check it out if you haven’t.
Also, I really hope Jewel wins over Taylor Swift in the best female country vocal category. Her voice is amazing.
Oh and I know he’s a jerk and all but Kanye West really does put out good music…I’m really tired of Eminem’s same old angry and violent antics. LTWYL is so much better with just Rhianna singing it imo. His voice just irritates me and he hasn’t evolved as an artist really (to me).
    Good night all :)

  166. Ok I’m alittle late to the party…..

    But OMG ADAM!!!

I seriously didn’t think he stood a chance at all….just wow

And I do believe that MJ will win mainly because he has passed. That song is not good but….*sigh*

I can’t wait for him to wake up :D

  167. Why is everybody only talking about Adam? Carrie and Fantasia have some too!

  168. bagel08:

Why is everybody only talking about Adam? Carrie and Fantasia have some too!

Because the majority of people didn’t think Adam stood a chance in hell of getting a nomination. It was always assumed that Carrie would and that Fantasia had a solid chance.

And if you read back there is alots of congrats to Carrie and Fantasia.

But I think most are just shocked about Adam.

  169. Congrats Adam, Carrie, Fantasia!! What an especially great night for Adam fandom!!! Wow!! Validation in the best way possible!! Go bb!!

  170. Congrats to Carrie, Fantasia and Adam. I’m especially pulling for Fantasia. Hope she get some much needed love–she is a fantastic R&B singer.

I have to say this is one of the weakest and most bizarre lists of Grammy nominees I’ve ever seen (not including the idols). I’m a big awards hound. Either this year was totally weak or the nominating panel mostly went for what they thought would get ratings. Granted, it is harder and harder to find good music through traditional formats like radio. But I expect the Recording Academy to do more research than Katy Perry for album of the year? Beyonce nominated for a live performance of the recorded song for which she WON last year? Gaga’s album (EP?) is fantastic, but then you overlook Bad Romance which was a commercial and critical behemoth? Where is Janelle Monae in New Artist? Rock is almost totally absent in the major categories–maybe that is the state of the genre, though.

Ironically, the Eminem and Lady Antebellum albums while decent are overrated. Eminem has done better work and Lady Antebellum’s album, again, is good, but not worthy of the awards it will most likely get. I see these two artists winning most of the major awards.

  171. Hi all,

I have not been here in ages but just wanted to pop in and say congrats to all Idol alums on their Grammy nom – especially Adam “Longshot” Lambert. So proud of them all!

    Carry on… :)

  172. Why is everybody only talking about Adam? Carrie and Fantasia have some too!

This. Fantasia actually has a shot at winning. Talk about that some more.

Because the majority of people didn’t think Adam stood a chance in hell of getting a nomination. It was always assumed that Carrie would and that Fantasia had a solid chance.

Why? I’m not a fan and even I knew he was getting nominated.

  173. Question: who is Esperanza Spalding? She is nominated for best new artist and I have no idea who she is LOL. anyone know?

Yes. She is a great Jazz artist. It’s very easy to google her and find her music.

  174. Its late and Ihave to go to bed but I just had to come here and flail for Adam! I don’t even care if he doesn’t win this time around. Being nominated his first year out is huge for him! I think that means the post AMA freeze is over and he is being acknowledged by his industry peers for the astounding singer that he is. I couldn’t be prouder! SOOOOOO happy to be a fan! What a fab end of tour suprise! Just stoked for him!

  175. Congratulations to Adam, Carrie, and Fantasia, three of the best vocalist to come out of American Idol. I am especially excited about Adam’s nomination because he is finally being recognized for his incredible vocal talent. I am so happy for him and only hope that he will be asked to perform at the Grammy’s. WTG Adam!!!

  176. I think Fantasia probably has the best shot of all three idols nominated. Carrie’s category is almost certainly a lock for Miranda. Adam’s category will most likely go to Bruno with some competition from Mayer. But Fantasia with 2 nominations has a strong chance, particularly with the vocal nomination. She’s a vocal powerhouse and even with her spotty press, people know that.

  177. sp34567:
I think he’s walking away with a handful that night. He’ll probably even finally win the big one, too. Did you see that list for Album of the Year? Why don’t they just give that to him now?

I hope so. I can’t even comprehend Katy Perry in that list! I do like her, but that album is just not good at all, compared to her first one, and really doesn’t deserve a nom.

  178. sp34567: just curious: how did you know Adam was getting nominated?

  179. Congrats to Adam, Carrie and Fantasia! (And Arcade Fire!)

And Adam got nominated for the award he really deserved to get nominated for! The Grammy voters are now almost forgiven for the Jethro Tull win. :)

And I think that you can now put the Acoustic Live! EP on the Billboard Top 100 and FYE will hit Platinum a bit sooner!

  180. late to the party, but just wow, what a week, first I got to see Adam’s concert in London, which was great!!!!! and now the nomination???? I never expected him to get the nom, just wow :)
Jae, you are right, the freeze sure is over…..
and Kirsten, I am totally with you about Subo, SAY WHAAAAAAT?

  181. Late to the party but: SO EXCITING! Congratulations to “Grammy-nominee Adam Lambert”! This absolutely made my day. Way to go bb!

And congrats to Carrie and Fantasia too!

  182. Ironically, the Eminem and Lady Antebellum albums while decent are overrated. Eminem has done better work and Lady Antebellum’s album, again, is good, but not worthy of the awards it will most likely get. I see these two artists winning most of the major awards.

IA but I think they will give it to Eminem more for his carreer as a whole and Recovery is one of the only (the only?) albums that sold over 3 million units the past year.

Lady A. didn’t get that many nominations (I count four) and the only one they are a lock to get is “Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals”. There’s a strong chance that best country album will go to Miranda since she won it at the CMA’s.

  183. and did you check out their “which idol will win a grammy?” poll? I think Glamberts worldwide are jumping up and down right now. Oh what a night!

lol I saw that yeah my twitter feed is finally moving on from “OMG NO WAY” to “Adam wake up and tweet”

  184. Hello from an inmate of the Adam Lambert padded cell. Mjs was the first fan forum that i ever got into. I met a lot of fans and had a realy good time here. I enjoyed the S8 AI tour here at Mjs.

I hoped that Adam would get a Grammy nom, but didn’t really expect it. I put on my armour and planned to take a step into the glitter. WOW!! He got a Grammy nod. I am so happy for him.

I am posting today because my ridiculous(sp) internet fandom started here.

    Congratulations to Carrie and Fantasia.

I don’t post here often, but I do lurk. The posts have brought me lots of LOL!!!

  185. ok so I am all aboard the WTF train for the Subo nomination but it would be frikken hilarious if she won over Beiber…just saying ;D

I am excited about Broken Bells, Robert Plant, Neil Young and Cyndi Lauper and of course Muse being nominated.

  186. gangreen29:

sp34567: just curious: how did you know Adam was getting nominated?

I had a feeling? I mean, who else were they going to nominate? All of the names that were tossed around for that category ended up being nominated. I think the only surprise was Michael Jackson.

    smeggingnuts:
ok so I am all aboard the WTF train for the Subo nomination but it would be frikken hilarious if she won over Beiber…just saying ;D

I see either Bieber or Katy Perry winning that category. The edge goes to Katy Perry because of that Album of the Year nomination.

  188. smegs, can you imagine the rage of all those girls, if Subo won over Fetus? oh my G. that would be worth watching… hehehehehe

  189. Adam has a snowball’s chance in hell to win, though, and a slot in the show is also highly unlikely, unless they manage to get him to duet/collaborate.

    *cough*Adam/Pink WWFM*cough* ;)

  190. what a great way to start my day..i have my hope up a notch since i saw Adam’s pix on Grammy site couple of days back.now,if they could just ask him to perform, that would be an icing on the cake.and for him to perform Can’t let you go?..now,that would be the cherry on top.Adaaaaam!!!!!

  191. Surprised but pleased that Adam got nominated. Totally thrilled for Esperanza Spalding. If the show does that duetty thing, I’d like to see them together. And bieber + Subo, heh. Doing “I got you, babe.

But I’m struck by a couple things , too:

    1) I knew country was welcoming to Idols, compared to pop, but R&B really is.wow.

    2) Man is rock dominated by the old guys. On the one hand, great that so many are still at it strong. On the other hand, has rock basically become something mostly done by old people?

All the more reason for Adam to do as I say, and become a rock singer. If Mayer can get noms on his vocals, you know the vacuum is large and growing.

  192. If Adam performs on the Grammy show, he would do WWFM — to my knowledge that’s pretty much what they do when asked to perform at the Grammys — people sing the song(s) they are nominated for — not something else (the exception being if they are involved in some sort of medley/tribute that has nothing to do with their own nomination(s) )

  193. Adam has a snowball’s chance in hell to win, though, and a slot in the show is also highly unlikely, unless they manage to get him to duet/collaborate.

Actually, I think Adam has a shot of winning. The nomination was the tougher hurdle. There was a lot of competition in this category — and a few high selling artist are missing.

John Mayer has won this category a lot — 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 — hopefully his time was last decade. :)

Michael Jackson had his year last year — and this song is not his best vocal but he’ll get a lot of votes.

Bruno Mars/Just the Way You Are — will loose some votes to Michael Jackson.

Michael Buble — could win it, “establish artists” do well in this category — 2006 Stevie Wonder and 2002 James Taylor won.

My guess Adam has a better shot of winning this award than performing. And if he performs it will be a duet with Pink.

  194. Adam just got the news….

adamlambert: Woah!!! Just got the news! A Grammy nomination?!?! I’m floored and honored. There are no words….

    See Smeggs—-positive thinking!!!

This means —RED CARPET walking for Adam. :-)

  196. Q, why would he duet with Pink? If his nomination is for best vocal performance, his performace was not with her. Would they really make him share his big chance with someone else? What about other nominees, will they have to duet also? Or do you think they won’t trust Adam on stage alone?

On another note. Now I understand why Kris Allen’s fans were upset with the guy from train getting on his song. He was awful in his singing and performing. Man, Kris certainly would have been better off without him.

Not true. Last year Pink was nominated for Sober. She didn’t perform that though, she performed Glitter in the Air.

Doesn’t really matter tho. IF Adam got a performance slot, WWFM would be fine with me. Don’t count on it happening though.

IMO it is a real long-shot that Adam would get to perform.

If you look at recent Grammy shows, they put new acts with established arts if they get to perform. In 2010 there were only 4 artist who did not share the stage with other acts/artists. Gaga was paired with Elton John, Taylor Swift with Stevie Nicks, etc.

    Here’s 2010 Grammy Performances

    * Lady Gaga opened the show with her hit single “Poker Face.” Elton John joined her on stage and together they sang “Speechless” before they broke into John’s hit single, “Your Song”.

    * Green Day performed with the Broadway cast of [American Idiot]] and sang “21 Guns.”

    * Beyonce sings “If I Were A Boy” and Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know.”

    * Pink sings “Glitter in the Air” before she stripped off her robe and performed an acrobatic act in the air above the crowd dressed in ribbons.

    * The Black Eyed Peas perform a remix of their popular hits “Imma Be” and “I Gotta Feeling.”

    * Country music singers Lady Antebellum perform their hit song “Need You Now”.”

    * Jamie Foxx performed his single “Blame It” with a surprise appearance from TPain and guitarist Slash.

    * Zac Brown Band performed “Amazing Grace” before Leon Russell joins them in their hit single “Chicken Fried.” Both are accompanied by Sugarlands guitarist Kristian Bush.

    * Taylor Swift performed her new hit “Today Was a Fairytale.” Special surprise guest Stevie Nicks joined her onstage and they sang Nicks hit “Rhiannon” and Swift’s “You Belong With Me.”

    * Bon Jovi performed his hit song “We Weren’t Born To Follow” and afterward is joined on the stage by Jennifer Nettles, from Sugarland for a performance of their duet “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.” He ends his performance with his hit single “Living on a Prayer.”

    * Mary J. Blige and pop tenor Andrea Bocelli perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, a version recorded for sale in iTunes for Haiti relief.

    * Dave Matthews Band performed their song “You and Me.”

    * Maxwell performed his hit single “Pretty Wings.” Roberta Flack joined him on the stage for a version of her hit “Where Is The Love.”

    * Eminem, Lil Wayne and Drake perform “Forever.” Travis Barker accompanies them on the drums.

ETA: I would rather Adam win and not perform — than perform and not win. :) I am working on focusing my dream energy!

  199. If the show does that duetty thing, I’d like to see them together. And bieber + Subo, heh. Doing “I got you, babe.

NO no its “I got you, Beibs”

  200. Got it. So he would probably get to perform a song then she would join in with another song?

  201. Ohhh Adam and Pink sing a mash up of WWFM and Raise your Glass :D

    Or (totally dreaming here)

    Adam and Bowie *sigh*

  202. All this stuff about Adam performing. What about Fantasia? She has a better shot at winning. They might ask her to perform.

  203. See Smeggs—-positive thinking!!!

Or my negative thinking made the universe prove me wrong ;)

I wonder if Gaga does perform she will get to do it solo.

I am guessing Eminem is a lock to perform…though both him and Gaga performed last year. And so did Pink.

I wonder how often they have repeat performers in back to back years.

    Other guesses for performers
    Beiber *sigh*
Mumford and Sons or Muse (please be Muse but more likely MAS)
Cee Lo Green (you know he is gonna perform F You)

I wonder if they would have Xtina and Cher duet something for their movie soundtrack…

  204. What about Fantasia? She has a better shot at winning. They might ask her to perform.

I think she has a good chance of performing and winning, just like Jennifer did 3 years ago. Seems like the biggest competition will be Monica.

It would be really ironic that what some consider the worst season of AI (before season 9 at least) would be the only one to have two grammy winning artists. I’m just waiting for Diana getting a Tony next.

  205. What about other nominees, will they have to duet also? Or do you think they won’t trust Adam on stage alone?

Yeah, cuz, P!nk is known as such a stabilizing force on the stage. She’d be the one to keep someone in line, on the straight and narrow. lol

BTW, anyone know how pregnant she’ll be come Grammy time? :-)

Congrats to Adam, Carrie, and Fantasia. Way to represent! I would love to see Adam perform. Yet, I don’t see them staging all three, and I don’t see Adam being choice #1. But, I’m all for hope and aiming high, so I’ll throw in for that too. I’m more interested in a win though, so if I must choose…

  206. BTW, anyone know how pregnant she’ll be come Grammy time? :-)

The grammys are 2 months from now, but I have no idea since when she’s pregnant tough.
She said during the B. Bush interview that she is going to take some vacations but I could see her doing one performance if it’s for the grammys.

I hope the three of them all win something, that will be some positive publicity that AI needs at this moment.

  207. Is Pink even nominated? I think they like to have artists who are nominated perform. Or Grammy legends. Nominated artists and Grammy legends.

I think she has a good chance of performing and winning, just like Jennifer did 3 years ago. Seems like the biggest competition will be Monica.

I see something like happening, too. And yes, her biggest competition will be Monica. It’s going to come down to the two of them in their categories.

Cee Lo Green (you know he is gonna perform F You)

Yes, Cee Lo might perform. He’s nominated in Song and Record of the Year. They usually like to have all of those nominees perform. I’m rooting for him to win something. He probably won’t, but I’m still going to be rooting for him.

  208. It would be really ironic that what some consider the worst season of AI (before season 9 at least)

How can the seasons with some of the best female vocalists(Fantasia, Crystal), be considered the worst? I think people just love to hate S9 for no reason…Crystal was fantastic. And Siobhan.

  209. Why? I’m not a fan and even I knew he was getting nominated.

Yeah, I knew Adam was getting nominated too… Just like I knew he would win S8 of AI. lol

  210. Holy $h!t! ADAAAAM! Just got up and read the news! I didn’t even bother to follow the nominations because the way things seem to have been going, but I am so glad he got a nod! I hope he wins the award, because I truly believe he deserves it, but just being nominated blows me away! :D

  211. Congrats to all the nominees, particularly the various Idols.

Can someone tell me what Adam performance is the basis for his WWFM nomination? Is it his music video, a TV performance, concerts?

  212. Can someone tell me what Adam performance is the basis for his WWFM nomination? Is it his music video, a TV performance, concerts?

I think all the nominations are based on the recording track of the album unless it’s indicated otherwise.

  213. Horrible day yeserday with unemployment running out..yet..now…Adam gettting a nom? FANTASTIC! Keith Richards talks in his new book about what fans derive from him…and I live it with Adam Lambert–incredible news!!! There is no doubt in my mind that he WILL perform and a duet with Pink would be epic, IMO!

  214. So glad that the term “grammy nominated” (or possibly grammy winner) will accompany Adam’s name in the future! Congrats to all who were nominated, btw! :)

  215. Congratulations to all of the artists nominated, especially Carrie, Fantasia and Adam! I’m particularly glad to see Adam nominated, and hope that he’s invited to perform. No matter, I’m looking forward to the show and seeing him on the red carpet. Cool too that Rob Cavallo and Dr. Luke are nominated for Producer of the Year, having submitted Adam’s songs as examples of their work.

  216. OH my God! What a great thing to wake up to! I went to bed last night because I thought for sure he would get snubbed- what a great great suprise! Congrats Adam! You deserve it!Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  217. Would they really make him share his big chance with someone else?

Nothing safer than pairing him up with a pregnant Pink for live tv;)

  218. Yeah, I knew Adam was getting nominated too… Just like I knew he would win S8 of AI. lol

Like I said, I’m not a fan so I wasn’t sitting around being nervous, hoping he would get nominated. I just knew.

  219. sp34567, so what is your opinion on Adam’s chances of winning? will he? (keeping my fingers crossed) :)

  220. omg Just got to work…shut off the tv at 1015am…yay Adam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  221. I think “best male pop vocal performance” will go to Bruno Mars because he is amazing. It is his year. Michael Jackson if not Bruno. Biebs will probably win best new artist.

  222. Was too nervous to watch last night almost sure that there would be continued snubbery (?)….So happy that Adam was recognized. Congrats to all the idols!

Can someone tell me what Adam performance is the basis for his WWFM nomination? Is it his music video, a TV performance, concerts

    ?

I think all the nominations are based on the recording track of the album unless it’s indicated otherwise.

It say’s ‘Best Male Vocal Performance’ as opposed to ‘Best Male Vocal’ … I guess my mind is translating that to a live or visual performance.

  224. Adam tweeted:

@adamlambert: Woah!!! Just got the news! A Grammy nomination?!?! I’m floored and honored. There are no words….

Oh, and congrats to Carrie and Fantasia! As much as I love Bruno and MJ, I really hope Adam has a shot at this. Would love to see him perform too and either sing Soaked a capella or a duet w/ Pink on WWFM. I know, wishfull thinking but hey- so was the nomination!

  225. I just don’t get the logic behind so many of the “big” nominations. They seem so random and WTF to me, a bizarre mix of what sold huge and “critical darlings,” many of which were great stuff but not nearly as good as some other stuff that got no recongition whatsoever. Oh, well. They join a long list of great musicians who were never recognized by the Academy.

Anyway, congrats to Adam, Carrie and Fantasia for their nominations!

  226. ETA: I would rather Adam win and not perform — than perform and not win. I am working on focusing my dream energy!

Q3, I completely agree. I rather he have the win than the performance. (or both, heh)

  227. Congratulations to Adam and the other nominees. After a gruelling world wide tour he so deserves a wonderful validation like this..

  228. Twigla. It’s for the recording. All Grammys are for audio recordings other than the short and long form videos. And unless the recording is designated as live( for example beyonce was nominated for a recording of a live performance if halo) what is nominated is the album or single track performance. So Adam was nominated for the wwfm on his cd, same with Carrie for temporary home, same with radio for bittersweet

  229. agathe.hb:
sp34567, so what is your opinion on Adam’s chances of winning? will he? (keeping my fingers crossed)

Hmm. They could give it to Michael Jackson so that they could give it to his kids and have a heartwarming moment like last time. Or it could go to Bruno Mars who has 7 nominations. I would say he’s got the edge right now. But let’s not count John Mayer who always seems to win in this category.

It say’s ‘Best Male Vocal Performance’ as opposed to ‘Best Male Vocal’ … I guess my mind is translating that to a live or visual performance.

It’s based on the recording track.

  230. I was a bit surprised to see SuBo nominated in the best pop album category. I wonder if her commercial success had not been so huge whether she would have been nominated?

    ETA:

SuBo really should have been in the traditional Pop category with Manilow.

I agree. That would be the better fit for her.

  231. Jumping in to add my CONGRATULATIONS to Carrie, Fantasia and Adam! I’m so excited about Adam’s nomination because many thought he was a long shot. I’ll bet he is ecstatic. I know I am!

  232. Wow, that must have been a really nice way for Adam to start his day. Good for him. I’d like to see either Bruno or Adam with that category. I think “This is It” is kind of a lame song to represent Michael’s last ever Grammy nomination. Not even close to the level of his previous stuff. I wish they had just left it out.

I’m happy to see Fantasia get 3 nominations. I love her current CD. It’s her best one yet. I hope she takes home all 3 :).

I want to see Eminem take home the big prize. That’s my favorite album of the year.

  233. The Grammys usually focus on the acts that will draw TV eyeballs plus legends. They also like to have a wide variety of genres.

Eminem and Bruno Mars led the pack in nods so they’ll def perform. I’d add Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, SuBo and Bieber. WWFM is a pretty old song by now so I doubt it’ll get performed on the show.

I’d love to see Fantasia on the Grammy stage. She’d kill it. Kind of doubt they’ll have her on though. ;(

  234. 2) Man is rock dominated by the old guys. On the one hand, great that so many are still at it strong. On the other hand, has rock basically become something mostly done by old people?

    That’s what I worry about.

  235. So happy for Adam, Carrie and Fantasia! Let’s hope that all three get to perform and all three win!

  236. Okay, looking at my crystal ball two months early, I’m going to predict that Fantasia will win best R&B performance, female for Bittersweet. I think that’s the most likely actual Grammy win out of all the Idol noms. It’s a drag there’s such a long time between the nominations and the actual awards. Bummer…

  237. haven’t read the many posts for this thread. just wanna say that i’m happy for all 3, adam, fantasia & carrie! they make idol fans, like me, proud!! best of luck to them! :)

Kind of doubt they’ll have her on though. ;(

Since Eminem and Bruno Mars lead the nominations, they will most definitely perform. They usually try to get the artists who were nominated in the General Field categories to perform. So, let’s throw in Katy Perry even though she just did the nomination special. Bieber, too. He’ll bring in some viewers. Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum will represent country.

Taylor Swift is not even nominated, but she’ll probably pop up to present. I don’t see Susan Boyle performing.

I think since Fantasia has a great chance at winning, she should get a spot to perform. If they don’t give her that, at least televise one of her awards.

  239. 2) Man is rock dominated by the old guys. On the one hand, great that so many are still at it strong. On the other hand, has rock basically become something mostly done by old people?

The rock community has done it to themselves, IMO. It is very snobbish and doesn’t make it is easy for young blood or anything other than traditional rock. Plus, it doesn’t get much play on Top 40 so younger singers go more the Pop route.

Yeah, rock’s got a real problem right now. I love rock, but when I go to the itunes page to try and find anyone new, it’s domintated by the old guys and a few new artists sprinkled in. But a lot of that lean more southern rock or blues, which isn’t really my bag either. So..not sure how to fix rock.

  241. Congratulations Adam. I’m so happy he got nominated. I couldn’t even watch the show last night, too nervous for him, and didn’t want to look here in case he didn’t get nominated. So YAY

Also congrats to Carrie and Fantasia and all other nominees including Sue Bo, I guess, if you twist my arm. Although my two cats, Mac & Tosh, are ecstatic of her nom.

Let them all die off and start over. ;)

  243. Let them all die off and start over.

LOL! Yeah, I think that’s gonna happen by default. Although I’m pretty sure Keith Richards will live forever.

  244. Obviously I’m in the minority but I’m very happy for SuBo and I think her nomination is deserving. Many, many people think she’s got a beautiful voice and love her album. Frankly I rather see someone like her than Katy Perry who can’t sing.

  245. Obviously I’m in the minority but I’m very happy for SuBo and I think her nomination is deserving. Many, many people think she’s got a beautiful voice and love her album. Frankly I rather see someone like her than Katy Perry who can’t sing.

I more have a problem with the category it’s in. It should be in traditional Pop. I would think a Pop nomination would be for someone who actually gets Pop airplay.

I keep hoping it’s more a recording industry problem than a real life problem: I can find good stuff on indie labels most any place I go: I just ask at the independent record shops. But the Grammies are pretty much dominated by the major labels since it’s a recording award, not a music award. But I agree, the genre needs a major shot in the arm.

  247. Oh good so I didn’t dream it Adam was nominated. I am so happy for him Carrie and Fantasia. I would like to see a corroboration with all three but that will never happen. Wasn’t Adam’s favorite Idol Fantasia. If I remember correctly on his season he was asked who was his American Idol and he said Fantasia. He also said Fantasia was the one Idol he would love to duet with. MMMMMM that would be awesome but I am sure for a future gig.

I wished that Kelly also would have gotten a nomination. I can’t believe that Beyonce gets one. I think Kelly for Already Gone would have been a much better choice and would have made more sense. I thought Beyonce won already for that song.

I am still shocked at Susan Boyle getting a nomination in the Pop album category whatever one thinks about the album I don’t think Pop album comes to mind. At least not for me. I am less shocked about her getting nominated then I am the category she got nominated. There were a slew of other Pop albums that would qualify and be better choices. I agree she should be in the Traditional pop category. Oh well

Again Happy for Adam, Fantasia and Carrie.

  248. I don’t think they would let Subo perform, she is too unreliable with her mood swings and all….
as for rock, I agree, they have been too snobbish for too long a time, rock stations would not play anybody new, so now they are stuck with what they have…. they will have to reinvent themselves sooner or later in order to survive
and Keith Richards will definitely live forever, lol

  249. Although I’m pretty sure Keith Richards will live forever.

He kinda looks like he’s already, er, passed … lol

  250. I don’t think they would let Subo perform, she is too unreliable with her mood swings and all….

They let Amy Winehouse perform. This industry is use to fragile flakes.

Keith is a human cockroach, and I mean that in the best possible way.

  251. I think rock music is doing fine. I saw the rock nominations and I was like, those are legends right there.

  252. LOL! Yeah, I think that’s gonna happen by default. Although I’m pretty sure Keith Richards will live forever.

I think Keith Richards is zombie…..or a vampire. Congrats again to Carrie, Fantasia and especially Adam! Was totally not expecting a nom and I am so happy for him!

  253. Most rock music now is considered alternative. Bands like MCR, KOL,30 Seconds To Mars and Muse at least are most of the time. Rock music as we know it should stay dead, IMHO.

The more I think about it, the more I believe Adam has a real shot at this.It is the one category most of us were hoping he had a chance at. MJ’s This Is It was basically a song that went nowhere. Bruno has alot of other nominations, and when you think male vocals, well- Adam just personafies excellence in that category. It isn’t just his fans that think it either. Any review for any of his live shows, whether the critic liked him or not ALWAYS gave credit to his vocals. That says alot, IMHO.

As for Subo- cover songs should not even be considered for Grammys.

  254. Wow, I’m still feeling a little giddy this morning. So happy for everyone! :D

I really hope Fanny wins something, she has a real shot at it.

Adam’s a little tougher. That category can go several ways.

Carrie doesn’t have a shot in hell but she does already have some Grammys.

Those were some really interesting nominations overall. Some really good songs got recognized I think, and there were some WTF choices as usual (Katy Perry’s album? Really?) but this is shaping up to have a interesting mix of performers this year at least! I’m actually excited for the Grammys this year.

  255. LOL! Yeah, I think that’s gonna happen by default. Although I’m pretty sure Keith Richards will live forever.

Yeah.. he is pretty ‘pickled’ by now.

  256. Most rock music now is considered alternative. Bands like MCR, KOL,30 Seconds To Mars and Muse at least are most of the time. Rock music as we know it should stay dead, IMHO.

Studio.. I usually agree with you, but not exactly in this instance. Music never really dies, it just evolves. Rock music has done this and has carried a bit of that snobbery with it. Now folks in the alternative category can claim true artistic cred. ;)

  257. Yay Adam! *soft squee cuz it isn’t an Adam thread* Sorry, had to!

And wtf with Subo. Her album is all covers, and the only reason she has gotten so much attention is because everyone, including the judges on the Britain’s Got Talent thought they were going to get a good laugh and it turned out she could actually sing. Add in the disability with her brain oxygen deprivation and all the rest of her sob story and its reality tv gold. Cowell and the gang pimped that shit to the max because they knew it would make a ton of cash. Sorry, but cover albums don’t deserve Grammy nods. Sorry for the rant, but I’ve had it up to my eyeballs with all her undeserved accolades.

Other WTFs include Beiber, but that is no real surprise…he’s been winning everything. Another is Katy Perry. I like her, she’s fun, but she cannot sing live to save her life. Certainly not Grammy material. *sigh* very disappointing awards season. Only high point for me is Adam’s nomination, but oh what a high point it is!

  258. I wonder if SuBo got the nom in the Pop category not because her music is in the Pop genre but because it was Pop in the sense of “popular”. She certainly sold a lot (especially looking at market today) and these are awards from the recording industry.

  259. I more have a problem with the category it’s in. It should be in traditional Pop. I would think a Pop nomination would be for someone who actually gets Pop airplay.

I agree. I thought she’d be with Rod Stewart group.

  260. Congrats to the nominees, in whatever category – good PR for each of them…and what else are these awards for? But –
SuBo? Geeze, I don’t follow the whole Grammy thing, the only one I recall is the Milli Vanilli fiasco – which effectively put them on ‘ignore’ for me – a long time ago. I don’t even pay attention to most? no, any, of the artists mentioned – but I read this blog, so I know about Susan Boyle. Has there ever been a nomination for an album of covers, that aren’t even pop, by a singer who has never done anything but covers?

I know the labels campaign for their people, but some set of somebodies, on some nominating committee, has to buy into the whole idea, don’t they? That’s just broken.

    IMO. Of Course.

  261. Hakunamatata: 12/01/2010 at 11:18 pm

    Damn.. never thought he would!!

Yeah… Same here… am so happy Adam is nominated in such a great category for 2011.

  262. If they have SuBo perform on the awards night it will set the grammys back mega years…who wants to tune in and see someone like Susan Boyle “ruin” an otherwise really nice song. If the grammys wants to stay hep and current they need to think twice about having SuBo…the nomination is enough to tarnish the cred of the awards…though they tend to do it to themselves enough.

Bet you her next run of albums will be splashed with “grammy nominated” stickers all over the cover. Simon C. ain’t goin’ let this golden goose go unrewarded…and think of the millions of extra dollars it is going to put in his pockets.

Until SuBo has a full-fledged concert where she sings 12 songs and entertains a capacity audience for an hour or more I will continually feel that she is one of the greatest con artists in current musical history. How she can be even called an “entertainer” is beyond my comprehension. Sorry for the rant…but I totally dislike the whole SuBo program and all the peeps that are making really good money off the back of someone with some real mental handicaps.

  263. GeminiDolly: 12/01/2010 at 11:49 pm

That would be awesome if they can get him that slot. He could sing SOAKED.

    @clearone:12/01/2010 at 11:09 pm…
Wouldn’t the above be a dream come true ? Adam singing ” Soaked”. The producers are also nominated…

  264. The era of great rock has come and gone. That’s why the “old guys” are still icons, they will never be replaced.

  265. koshka- actually that is what I meant. Rock has evolved into alternative. The “rock” bands of today like Nickelback TOADM, Hinder, etc, are pretty much stuck in the past, but bands like Muse and MCR and KOL, etc, ARE todays rock.

  266. The Grammys would be lucky as hell to get SuBo show up. She has a gazillion fans and her “train wreck” persona would increase viewership considerably. I don’t care if she wins a Grammy. But I def don’t want to see Justin Bieber walk away with the BNA. ;)

Herbie Hancock won Best Album for an album of Joni Mitchell covers. I really don’t get the whole cover thing. If you bring something special to standards you deserve a Grammy. Do opera singers deserve Grammys? After all, all they do are covers. ;)

  267. Studio Duh! on my end. Glad to know I still agree with you.. wouldn’t want to break my track record. ;)

This is why when my husband listens to “classic rock” I call it the oldies station. Well, mostly to needle him a bit.

  268. actually that is what I meant. Rock has evolved into alternative. The “rock” bands of today like Nickelback TOADM, Hinder, etc, are pretty much stuck in the past, but bands like Muse and MCR and KOL, etc, ARE todays rock.

I agree. The fresh ideas tend to be in the alternative realm. But I’ve never heard anyone make a distinction between alternative and rock before… do you just mean for Grammy categories?

The larger rock world could do itself a favor if it just destigmatized commercial success and/or hit songs. It’s very hard to be any kind of rocker and have a hit of any kind. Once you do, you get rejected by a whole chunk of the community. They don’t want a lot of people to like the songs but at the same time they complain that not a lot of people buy the “real” stuff. LOL

  269. If you bring something special to standards you deserve a Grammy.

But in SuBo’s case, she didn’t. Except sales YMMV

  270. wouldn’t it be total craziness if they had a Subo Adam duet singing Wild Horses? hahahahahhahahahha

  271. sr4mjc: ITA, she sings these songs like at an old aunt party….. well, at least to me she does…..

  272. wouldn’t it be total craziness if they had a Subo Adam duet singing Wild Horses? hahahahahhahahahha

Don’t joke about that, you might regret it in 2 months.

  273. wouldn’t it be total craziness if they had a Subo Adam duet singing Wild Horses? hahahahahhahahahha

I think I just vomited a little bit. 2 reality show runner ups would not be good for his career.(As far as expanding any cred) I don’t care about hers.

  274. When you get nominated for a Grammy your stock goes up, you earn bragging rights. Why on earth would Simon NOT plaster the title “grammy nominee” all over anything Susan puts out? I fully expect RCA to do the same with Adam. Like her not the woman has sold millions of albums and is currently kicking ass on the album chart, add in the grammy nomination, Simon has every right to be excited. And judging by how many albums she’s sold all over the world I’d make a safe bet a lot of people would like to see her perform whatever she sings.

  275. Lady Antebellum is the best country artists in a long time, great harmony. I am still irked because they overlooked Cookie the year he won Idol and accomplished so much.

  276. I am still irked because they overlooked Cookie the year he won Idol and accomplished so much.

I think RCA submitting him for Rock was the wrong way to go, if I remember correctly. The old guys win Rock, not Idols.

  277. Cookie had no buzz during voting season. That’s never good. And yeah, submitting him for rock was not the move. But there’s always next year! :D

  278. I find your discussion about aging rockers interesting given that the talk on several of the morning TV shows was about how Eminem was among the oldest person nominated in at least the major categories.(Subo is of course an exception to this.) Most of the people nominated are in their 20’s according to the guy from Rolling Stones on TV this morning.

I think one reason rock seems to stay stagnant is that a lot of the rock stations are “classic rock” – really greatest hits or oldie stations -and don’t play new material from established rockers or introduce new talent. I borrowed someone’s car over the Thanksgiving weekend and was impressed by the station I found on Sirius that introduced new rock songs with the phrase “Classic doesn’t mean it has to be old”. Ha!

  279. But in SuBo’s case, she didn’t. Except sales

These days, sales *are* your “something special.”

  280. @lucy, so right, even though I hate that money is more important than talent. but money is what makes the world go round, so no surprise there. Half the people that are most successful these days in the entertainment industry at large are great money spinners for whatever reason or combination of reasons, but very low on talent.

@Tess I agree with your whole post, especially the part about SuBo singing in front of an audience like that. Can you imagine that poor woman being put through the rigors of touring? No way in hell would she survive it. She’s already been institutionalized one time because fame and all that comes with it was too much for her. She DOES have real mental handicaps- Katie Couric interviewed her back when BGT first ended and the story was told. She was deprived of oxygen for several minutes at birth, and she’s lucky she doesn’t have any more brain damage than she already does. Cowell and the rest using someone like that to make millions without thinking of what is best for her is despicable. And of course she doesn’t know any better because she doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand it.

  281. …the nomination is enough to tarnish the cred of the awards…though they tend to do it to themselves enough.

No apology necessary for this rant! What’s surprising, “More people have not come to that realization?”

  282. sr4mjc:

You bet it was a mistake submitting Cook for a Rock nomination. Sorry, but that album wasn’t what I would define as rock. Hopefully next year, he will put out a good album and get a nomination.

  283. No apology necessary for this rant! What’s surprising, “More people have not come to that realization?”

There have been some jump the shark moments with the grammies (Jonas Bro nominated as BNA?, Taylor Swift winning best country vocals?), so no I’m not surprised that Susan Boyle who sold more than 99% of the people there gets a nomination

  284. Valentin432:
oh my G. I am sorry, no more jokes like that…… to think about the horror :(

  285. Still very excited about Adam getting his first Grammy nomination. Bruno Mars is a fav in the category but people can vote for him in other categories and that could hurt him. MJ is a wild card that I did not expect to see nominated and could get a lot of votes — particularly since this is his only nomination. But I honestly believe that Adam has a shot in the category. Very surprised that Drake or Usher did not get a nomination.

My bets — Empire State Of Mind — will take Record of the Year. It is the perfect Grammy song. Eminem will will Album of the Year and Song of the Year. BNA Florence & The Machine And Glee could win the Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals (anyone but Train, please!) — Sade should win but they are from the UK and not that well known.

Some contemporary rock bands do get Top 40 Airplay. Kings of Leon have had Top 40 hits, have a lot of young fans, are heavily influenced by southern rock and got nominated.

Also Arcade Fire (Album Of The Year, 2 rock nominations) and MUSE both get airplay and they are not classic rock retreads.

IMO what has destroyed rock is alt. rock designed for HAC/AC radio (rock bands playing pop music — Daughtry “September”, The Script, etc.), the soft-rock derived loosely from Nirvana and called neo-grunge that 20 years later lacks authenticity or power, and whatever Nickelback is.

ITA — seems like this is the wrong category to me and I am surprised that they accepted the submission in this category.

I do not think she will win. But this is not really a list of the best vocal albums of the year…they should just label it — albums that sold a lot and had someone singing on it. :) and only sort of kidding.

    My World 2.0, Justin Bieber

I Dreamed A Dream, Susan Boyle

    The Fame Monster, Lady Gaga

    Battle Studies, John Mayer

    Teenage Dream, Katy Perry

And Katy Perry can actually sing — listen to her unplugged sessions — what I think is that she cannot sing the songs that she is releasing in any way that replicates the single because of the production. I have also seen her live/acoustic and she is quite good.

  287. This is why when my husband listens to “classic rock” I call it the oldies station. Well, mostly to needle him a bit.

I was right there with him until about 5 years ago. There is only so many times I can listen to Eagles Journey and Styx albums before I wear myself out, lol. I remember seeing Styx in concert about 10 years ago and being totally depressed to hear them describe themselves as “classic” rock, but it’s the truth.

Q3- wasn’t sure exactly what you meant by your post but I wasn’t talking about Grammy categories necessarily, I was more or less thinking that Alternative and Rock should be combined at this point, especially with Itunes/ Radio.

  288. Q3- wasn’t sure exactly what you meant by your post but I wasn’t talking about Grammy categories necessarily, I was more or less thinking that Alternative and Rock should be combined at this point, especially with Itunes/ Radio.

I was responding to a different post about rock dominated by the old guys — and the Grammys always nominate “heritage” artists.

But I agree that the Grammy genre categories make no sense. And alternative rock means nothing anymore — alternative to what? And it is slapped on many artists who do not really play rock music.

I was just pleased to see Arcade Fire get nominated and they have a new energy and are not the same old boring rock retreads.

I think rock may be starting to re-surge with some new energy and creativity. There is a growing art rock-theatrical rock movement, the industrial rock scene is growing on the West coast and in Europe, Garage rock/Post-punk revival has even made it to Top 40 radio and major labels, and Metal Core bands are bringing new life to heavy rock.

I think it is a mistake to judge what is happening with Rock by Broadcast radio (unless you are in Quebec). Younger rock fans are listening to music online-streaming media, and there is a ton of new, great rock music.

  289. Katy’s problem is she wrote songs that she herself cannot sing live. Her acoustic is good and she didn’t write songs out of her range on the first album. But Firework calls for someone with a bigger voice than she has. Doesn’t seem to hurt her sales though. I think Rihanna has the same problem on ‘Loud’ but I’m not sure who wrote her material. California King Bed is gorgeous and she does her best with it, but it’s too big a song for her.

  290. I just realized Rhianna didn’t get any major nominations for anything or did She? I would have thought she would have been Fantasia’s competition or at least a pop award of some sorts. She has a dance nom and the corroborations with Eminem but nothing really on her own. I find it sort of a surprise.

  291. I just realized Rhianna didn’t get any major nominations nominated for anything or did She? I would have thought she would have been Fantasia’s competition or at least a pop award of some sorts. She has a dance nom and the corroborations with Eminem but nothing really on her own. I find it sort of a surprise.

Well, Loud just came out a few weeks ago, so I think the only songs eligible was the Collab with Eminem single and Only Girl, a single. I think so anyway.

  292. I’m still kinda floored about Kesha…I mean SuBo got a nomination off of sales and Kesha has sold tons plus all her hit singles….and not one nomination.

  293. Ok, just have to pop in to flail (I’ve done it all over twitter for the last 12 hrs, lol) –

YAYAYYYAYYAYYAYYY!!! ADAM!!!!!! Omg, so excite for him! He deserves the nomination so much! And hooray for two of his producers getting big nominations as well!!! :-D So happy for him!

I’m still kinda floored about Kesha…I mean SuBo got a nomination off of sales and Kesha has sold tons plus all her hit singles….and not one nomination.

Yeah, kinda surprised, but kinda not. It kind of vindicated a lot of what I thought about the industry that Adam got a nomination and she didn’t. In her case, I really think it’s probably pretty political – I’m guessing a lot of academy voting members don’t think much of her, including her persona and voice. So they probably shut her out for those kinds of more “snobby” reasons. IMO, it was justified. (not that I really think Subo deserved the nomination either, though)

  295. And after Swifty getting a vocal win last year, maybe they are trying to make up a little bit for that. In Adam’s category, all the guys can sing. Buble and Mayer may not be my style but they aren’t without talent. Notice Bieber didn’t get a vocal nom. He’s not horrible, but they made better choices.

  296. I just realized Rhianna didn’t get any major nominations nominated for anything or did She? I would have thought she would have been Fantasia’s competition or at least a pop award of some sorts.

Fanny and Ri Ri compete in totally different categories. Fanny is straight up adult oriented R&B, Rihannna is a youth oriented pop/dance/r&b crossover act. Fanny’s competition would be people like Monica and Mary J Blige. :D

Rated R was the Rihanna album that qualified this year but it got mixed reviews and audience response. I think she’ll have a much better shot next year with this album that just dropped. Plus she’s all over Eminem’s song! So she did get some big nominations this year.

  297. Taylor Swift winning best country vocals?

Speaking of money being a big factor in these awards. … Not that TS doesn’t have plenty of talent worthy of awards in other categories. But I can’t see how it could have been anything but her impressive dollar fitures that got her the win as best *vocalist.* And in *country,* yet, where there are still, you know, actual *vocalists* aplenty.

  298. Actually, I think Adam has a shot of winning. The nomination was the tougher hurdle. There was a lot of competition in this category — and a few high selling artist are missing.

I agree. It’s definitely no where near being out of the realm of possibilities. For one, I agree that MJ (while a sentimental pick) really did have more of his year last year. When I mentioned he was nominated with Adam in that category, most of my coworkers were actually kinda baffled.

I think Bruno being up for so many other awards could help Adam too – more likely that they might reward him in another category and “spread the wealth” by not necessarily giving him this one too.

Buble and Mayer I have no idea. Imo they seem very similar, and could (potentially?) split votes that way. Mayer having already won so many times might lead to a similar “share the wealth” mentality with him.

Plus, Adam has a lot of industry respect from VERY prominent people in the industry, e.g. – the people VOTING for these awards. While he might not be the biggest name or have the most buzz right now, that could tip it in his favor as a means of industry insiders knowing his talent and potential and wanting to reward him.

Who knows though. LOL. I’ll be ridiculously nervous during the ceremony. But I totally agree, just being nominated was AMAZING for him!

As for performing, well, I for one like the duet with Pink idea, especially since it’s what’s been done a lot in the past. I hope RCA is smart and pitches the idea to have Adam perform in the way that is most likely to make it happen – e.g. push it as a duet if that’s more likely to get him a spot, rather than insist (or just push) a solo spot.

I personally think a duet with Pink would be awesome because of her big name! And Adam singing his ass off, no matter who he’s sharing the stage with, would be really impressive :-)

  299. Um, why is my comment awaiting moderation? AFAIK I’m talking about the Grammys and not even addressing another poster. I’m confused (??)

  300. I’m definatly not upset Kesha didn’t get a nomination but everyone seemed sure she was a lock for at least something.

  301. As far a Kesha I think she deserved a nom for best Pop album over Susan Boyle. Though she can’t sing her album is fun and very Pop. I also think it is better then Katy’s who I think has a similar sound and vibe to Kesha. JMHO

  302. Sade should win but they are from the UK and not that well known.

Sade not well known? Yes, they are. They are 3 time Grammy winners including Best New Artist. They should’ve been nominated for Album of the Year, but they had to throw in Katy Perry. They sell out all of their concerts whenever they tour. They are very well known.

  303. I didn’t know Sade was a group. I knew who she was mainly from her prior albums (Smooth Operator), but thought she was solo artist. Or I mean they…

  304. Fanny and Ri Ri compete in totally different categories. Fanny is straight up adult oriented R&B, Rihannna is a youth oriented pop/dance/r&b crossover act. Fanny’s competition would be people like Monica and Mary J Blige.

Ooops ok thanks for the info and mini lesson. I guess I get confused sometimes because some of the singers get both R&B and Pop noms. I know Beyonce has and Rhianna has in the past. I hope Fantasia gets its.

  305. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFLAILFLAILFLAILFLAILFLAIL

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy for him and soooooooo SHOKED!!!!!!! This is the BEST . DAY. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are no words to describe how THRILLED I am right

I never thought all my adam dreams ( that i posted about here a longgg time ago lol maybe a little more than a year ago? would come true, but they ALL have :)

    thats such a HUGE honor

    I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  306. As much of an HONOR as it is (im still thrilled) I think Bruno Mars will win and besides just the way you are is amazing too..just not as much as WWFM!! :)

Congratulations to everyone else who was nominatd too!!!

  307. sr4mjc: yet again I agree with you, Sade is definitely NOT a group, she is a solo singer, well established and popular :)
this is he comeback, she has been out of the loop for a loooooooooong while….

  308. I didn’t know Sade was a group. I knew who she was mainly from her prior albums (Smooth Operator), but thought she was solo artist. Or I mean they…

Yeah, a lot of people don’t know they’re a group. She’s the face; they’re named after her. But they’re a group.

Cookie had no buzz during voting season. That’s never good. And yeah, submitting him for rock was not the move. But there’s always next year!

He did have some buzz. A lot of people thought he would be nominated for Best New Artist.

  309. I’ve been running around all day with a huge grin on my face. I am so incredibly thrilled for Adam as well as his producers! I know they are all up against some very heavy competition, but a Grammy nomination is a huge honor in itself.

  310. well, according to this, she is NOT a group
Helen Folasade Adu, OBE, (born 16 January 1959), better known as Sade, is a British[1] singer-songwriter, composer, and record producer. She first achieved success in the 1980s as the frontwoman and lead vocalist of the popular Brit and Grammy Award winning English group Sade.

  311. Gaga or Sara B? I like them both for different reasons. Gotta give my Sara B some love I think. Gaga could be knocked down a few pegs before the new album, she’s getting a little nutty lately. How close until she can tweet again?

  312. dcglam, it’s definitely a huge honor, Grammys are like Oscars – it means a nominee is really valued by his/her peers….

  313. She first achieved success in the 1980s as the frontwoman and lead vocalist of the popular Brit and Grammy Award winning English group Sade.

Looks like a group to me!

dcglam, it’s definitely a huge honor, Grammys are like Oscars – it means a nominee is really valued by his/her peers….

I know! And I’m hoping it will keep writers and producers interested in working on album #2

What does that say, then? That’s she’s the frontwoman of the group Sade. The group was named after her.

  315. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SQUEE!!!!!!!!!!!ADAM!!!!Yeah!!!!!!

  316. okay, in Europe, Sade has always been known as a solo singer, maybe that’s why I perceive her as such…. the band has never been mentioned ever… just her as a solo singer

  317. I think Bruno Mars has a beautiful voice, but I absolutely hate the song “just the way you are”!!!! It’s so repetitive, I hate the instruments, sounds like Bruno is straining, uggghhh! I acknowledge that Bruno is an amazing singer, it’s just this song that forces my hand to hit the seek button every time it comes on the radio.

  318. Gaga or Sara B?

That’s a tough one, but I think Gaga will get the win. It really was the year of Gaga, after all.

  319. Not that I am challenging anybody but it is strange that I have been listening to Sade for about 20 years and I always thought it was just her. Boy, the “group” must be happy being very very quiet and behind the scenes ’cause I don’t think I am the only one who has been mistaken about this.

  320. Yay–Major Flailing here, just finding out about newly

    Grammy-Nominated Artist Adam Lambert.

win or lose he still has that, and off his first album too!!
So excited for his sophomore album. Congrats to all the other nominess,
    as well.

  321. Tess, I totally agree with you, in Europe SHE has always been referred to as the singer, and NEVER the group….

  322. How exciting. Just wanted to flail with y’all
Grammy-Nominated Artist Adam Lambert. Off his first album too. Exciting!!!

  323. I’ve been running around all day with a huge grin on my face.

Me too, dc – I’ve been giddy all day!

  324. Congrats to Adam and Carrie, two true talents.
Very excited for both of them.

They were members of another group called Pride. They split and formed another group. They just named themselves after their lead singer. I’m sure they’re fine about being very quiet and behind the scenes.

Um I think everybody is right its seems Sade is both. :-)

Oh and WOOHOO Adam M. Lambert is a Grammy Nominated Artist. He is in good company with Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Ruben, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Ace, Mandisa, and Chris Sigh as the other idols who have been nominated for Grammys. I know many think he is a long shot. I think differently. I think he has a big chance of getting it. One he is a super vocalist. Two-The other entries have certain strikes that may hurt. them Bruno is nominated in other categories, Michael though I love him this was not a great vocal and many may not want this to be his last legacy of a Grammy win. It will be totally for him as MJ not a great vocal performance. IMHO Mayer has won before and Buble I think should not have been put into this category. One thing of note they all are great vocalist so at least that is a good thing. I think this will be the hardest award to determine. They all could win for various reasons.

The Elephant in the room of Adam being gay could help as well as hurt him. I think it will lean to helping him with those who may be torn between two or more of the other nominees. They may feel Adam winning would be a big statement in these hard time for Gay teens and gay civil rights. maybe not and please I don’t mean to upset anyone. its just a thought. And when you have 5 guys who are all great vocalist in the own right people start choosing based on other factors.

  327. As for Subo- cover songs should not even be considered for Grammys.

    ITA

  328. Eternal optimist here … The fact Adam was nominated would seem to me that he has a very good chance of winning.

  329. How awesome for all the idols nominated especially Adam. It goes without sayin his fans r probably super thrilled it is an event many fans dream of for their idol.

LOL except for the fact that every year every catagory has 4 nominees who didn’t win ;)

  331. dhunken, ITA with you. The whole gay bullying issue, IGB, etc, could actually help Adam. Well, that and he has the best vocal skills of anyone out there. Other guys can sing, sure, but nobody, nobody can touch Adam Frigging Lambert’s vocal skills. He should win based on that.

I so agree with you on this point. He does and if you honestly listen to all the nominees I believe one would come to the conclusion that Adam does have the best vocals and probably the best song in those nominated. I think Bruno Mars has a great voice but I don’t think his voice is his best in this song. IMHO. My opinion is based on the factors that are not about the voice that he will get the win. Just like for MJ its about honoring him because he passed away (though I feel that has already been done) Bruno as the Newbie that is the hot ticket right now and who has collaborated with practically everyone. :-) Mayer because he always wins this category and Buble because well he’s Buble. Basically I am saying they all will have reason people vote for them other then there vocal ability. Some may vote on a reason that has nothing to do with the vocal. (MJ is the first name that comes to mind as though I love him his vocals here are no where near as good as the others. In fact MJ is the weakest in this category based on the vocals alone. IMHO ) I again agree with you that Adam should win just based on vocals and if that were truly the case I would feel more confident in his chances of winning. God 72 more days of this….I hope I survive.

  333. Yes if they ignore all the politics and everything else and just focus on actual vocal performance Adam should win but we will just have to wait (happily) to find out. Also, I could def see him perform WWFM with Pink since she co-wrote the song and they do love pairing people up…it would also be cool if he could do something with Muse since they are also nominated and Matt Bellamy did write Soaked. I would much rather he perform that song because it showcases his voice more and it’ll be something new for a lot of ppl watching. Someone said up thread they would rather that he win and not get to perform. Its a tough choice, but if they are planning on giving him the award then he should be able to perform, although most of the artists who perform usually have more than one nomination I think. Keeping fingers crossed!

  334. The whole gay bullying issue, IGB, etc, could actually help Adam. Well, that and he has the best vocal skills of anyone out there. Other guys can sing, sure, but nobody, nobody can touch Adam Frigging Lambert’s vocal skills. He should win based on that.

I agree. After all, it is a “vocal” award!

  335. On second thought, a duet with Pink could be incredible. But, she’ll be so very pregnant by then. It would be a funny visual, very pregnant Pink, and
” openly gay” Adam singing WWFM to each other!! LOL

Naw, Adam needs to sing alone. Or, Soaked with Matt Bellamy.

If nothing else, Adam has cred now. His second album should be just incredible. He had so many lined up wanting to be part of the first one, now, with several noms for FYE, they should be falling in line to work with him .

  336. Q3:

IMO what has destroyed rock is alt. rock designed for HAC/AC radio (rock bands playing pop music — Daughtry “September”, The Script, etc.), the soft-rock derived loosely from Nirvana and called neo-grunge that 20 years later lacks authenticity or power, and whatever Nickelback is.

But I think the problem is really with the record companies. They aren’t signing new rock acts, because they say it won’t sell. But I’m sure the next big rock revolution, like what Nirvana did, is out there, but they won’t be signed because the record companies will not sign rock. Even so, I think 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse are a slighly different sound in rock.

And I think most rock is HAC because adults grew up on rock more so than the younger audiences did. It’s much more likely now that a teenager won’t like rock, but their parents will.

  337. I went to check what the fuss was about with this Bruno Mars dude. Wow. That is a talented little fucker. Well Adam, its great just to be nominated.

  338. Well congrats to Carrie, Fanny and Adam on well deserved noms. Of course I’m extra thrilled about the Adam nom. Don’t expect he’ll win, that will more than likely be Bruno Mars, but it really is cool that he was nominated. Good for him.

  339. GeminiDolly:

I went to check what the fuss was about with this Bruno Mars dude. Wow. That is a talented little fucker. Well Adam, its great just to be nominated.

Well, the 2010 Grammy Nominee Adam Lambert is even more talented, if I say so myself. And yes, it is great just to be nominated!

  340. I don’t think that Adam being gay has anything to do with his nomination nor with his win if it happens. In my opinion he can out sing anyone in that category. I hope he will be recognized and given credit for his talent. I also hope that this nomination will cause some DJ’s who have not given him a chance to re-evaluate their attitudes and give him a fair shake based on his talent.

I hope I am not out of line for saying this. But I have already read someplace else that his nomination was a PC move for Sony. Unbelievable how his talent is so easily dismissed.

  341. I am a HUGE Bruno fan and I hope he wins every Grammy he is up for EXCEPT this one, lol. Even though his voice is like buttah to me, his songs are simple and with little range, but man he really IS a talented little fucker like Gemini said :)

Even critics who wrote reviews for Adam’s concerts, whether they liked him or not, always gave credit to his voice. This award should be his, but I think even Adam would not be too disappointed losing to Bruno because he is also a Mars fan. I really do think that is Adam’s only competition. I really hope the voters don’t buckle to MJ sentiment. That song was crap and does not deserve it. Didn’t MJ win last year?

  342. If nothing else, Adam has cred now. His second album should be just incredible. He had so many lined up wanting to be part of the first one, now, with several noms for FYE, they should be falling in line to work with him .

IA his second album will be better just because of the mere fact that he will have more time (although not a whole lot more since summer is only like six months away) to put it together and experiment a little more, I think. Having said that I do think he should write more, and I don’t mean co-write I mean like actually write an entire song instead of just working with big name producers. I definitely think he should work with Max Martin, Ryan Tedder and Linda Perry again, as well as the two producers that are nominated for a Grammy but if he wrote more of the material not only would he get more money but also more recognition. That is one advantage that Bruno Mars has over him. While Adam has a better voice, Bruno writes his own songs and that has merit. There should a category for best songwriting or something.

  343. I’m thrilled for Fantasia, Carrie, Adam, the cast of Glee, Gaga, Miranda Lambert and a few others but some surprises. It shocked me that “Dog Days are Over” didn’t get a record of the year nomination as I think it’s an amazingly produced song. Also as much as I love Beyonce and the song Halo did it really need to be nominated for Best Pop Female Vocal as it won in that category last year. I know it’s a live performance but it’s the same song. I think Pink’s “Please Don’t Leave Me” would have been a better choice if not a win. Also I’ am sad that Allison, Katharine, an Kris weren’t recognized for anything and surprised that Clay didn’t at least make the Best Traditional Pop Album Nomination.

  344. I think it is a mistake to judge what is happening with Rock by Broadcast radio (unless you are in Quebec). Younger rock fans are listening to music online-streaming media, and there is a ton of new, great rock music.

I agree that it’s out there, and certainly is in the clubs. My current two favorite rock bands are all in their early twenties. But I found it very striking that the rock categories were dominated by people in their 50s or 60s.

But it brings up another peeve: it bugs the shit out of me that the major metrics all revolve around recorded music. Live should be the touchstone, IMO. Not practical I know.

Man, glad I am not the only one. I disliked that song the first time I heard it and I had never heard of Bruno Mars. Actually my daughter(21)really hates that song too. The lyrics are just dumb and I don’t like all the repeated phrases but a lot of people love it, LOl. I do like the Billionaire song though.

  346. car
I hope I am not out of line for saying this. But I have already read someplace else that his nomination was a PC move for Sony. Unbelievable how his talent is so easily dismissed.

Well even if for some reason Sony put his name in as a PC move (which I don’t think so) that doesn’t mean that the Grammy people nominated him because of a label trying to be PC. It doesn’t make any sense.

  347. I agree smegg, but it is just so annoying that everthing that he accomplishes for some has to be placed on his sexuality. But the good thing is most recognize that he is very talented and he earned his success because of the voice. Even those who try to say otherwise know better I believe.

  348. I hope Rob Cavallo wins. That would be a nice reflection on Adam. Of course I really want Adam to win. It’s all about his unbelievable talent to me.

On Bruno Mars… a lot of his songs are repetitive. But “just the way you are” is a nice change of pace in the way current song writers portray the women in their lives. I think it’s sweet for a guy to be so enchanted by his love.

  349. In my opinion Adam is the best male vocalist out there right now, and am so happy that he is being recognized for it. And car totally agree with what you said above “Even those who try to say otherwise know better I believe”.

Hysterical, right? But then jealous people will talk especially if they are upset that their favorite was ignored. I wouldn’t put much stock in such idiocy.

  351. Well, the 2010 Grammy Nominee Adam Lambert is even more talented, if I say so myself

I just love reading this I had to put it up a least 3 times so it comes true. (superstition) I really think it will. Thanks DCglam for putting this into print. It make me smile so much. :D  :-)

That’s just so cute! I just found out on FB that my daughter who I think kinda liked me despises me. But she was very strongly opinionated about her acceptance of other lifestyles and her love and admiration for our Adam Lambert. So that at least made me happy. :)

Thanks iluvai. Cool story about you daughter. The power of Adam :-) I am sure you daughter doesn’t despises you as much as you think. Children have since the beginning of time at some point come across that they despise their parents. Its all a ploy to be cool and not let the parent know the parent actually has some hold on them. ;-)

  354. Dhunken: Thanks. I kinda know that although it hurt. But she loves our guy. And she is a great advocate among her peers. So, it’s all good. You’re sweet! Thanks!

  355. iluvai, I am sure she was just showing off to her friends, she would not follow your example if she really despised you, I am sure of that :)

Exactly!!!!! …….very well said Agathe.hb. You must be a parent or showed off to your friends too when you were younger …… (like two year ago) . ;-)

  357. Agathe.hb, and dhunken:

Thanks. I really needed the kind words.

I am so proud of her on her stance on certain issues. :)

  358. IMHO Mayer has won before and Buble I think should not have been put into this category.

Yes, Mayer has won before, but he is a Grammy darling. The dude is nominated every year. And why shouldn’t Buble be in this category? He was nominated in this category before for his song “Everything”. “Haven’t Met You Yet” is a pop song. He deserves to be in this category.

    No.

  359. iluvai, I have a teenager at home, so I know how it is… she is the nicest kid ever, but when friends are around, she changes completely towards me… it’s not a big deal, all kids go through such phase :)
just be patient and understanding, she sounds like a great and smart kid, it’s only going to get better :)

  360. dhunken, thanks for the compliment ;)
well, who hasn’t showed off at one point or another, right?

  361. Michael though I love him this was not a great vocal and many may not want this to be his last legacy of a Grammy win.

And everybody keeps saying that Adam is the best voice in his category so he should win. However, as I was told, Best Vocal Pop Performance doesn’t actually mean an award for a vocal performance but it’s rather for “a pop song that has a vocal performance in it”. A bit different bag of chips. A vocal might be stellar on WWFM but if the critics decide that the Bruno Mars song is simply a better song, the award goes to him.

This is why I seriously think Michael Jackson will take this one. Because why give a nomination to a guy who has been dead for quite a time (and who’s got plenty of Grammys) if not to award him? A nomination isn’t much of honoring the body of work but an award is.

  362. Bruno Mars song is simply a better song,

Bleh! I must be in the minority with one other poster on this thread, but I simply can not stand this song. Bruno sounds whiny to me and they some of the studio effects they used. The content of the song is a nice change of place, but its not unique – ie Buble. IDK if Adam will win there is some stiff competition, but I just need to go on the record for disliking the Bruno song.

I’m actually with you on the Bruno Mars song, I don’t care for it all, but yeah, we’re apparently in minority. Who knows what the voters think of it. And, IMO, WWFM is not a super-original song either. What’s greatest about it is Adam’s vocal but despite the name of the award, the vocal is not the deciding factor.

  364. And everybody keeps saying that Adam is the best voice in his category so he should win. This. It’s not really an award for a vocal performance. They might give it to Michael Jackson to honor him. But Bruno Mars has the edge right now because he’s got seven nominations including ones in Record and Song of the Year. He might not win those so they probably want to reward him somewhere. This would be the perfect place to do it.

  365. Best Vocal Pop Performance doesn’t actually mean an award for a vocal performance but it’s rather for “a pop song that has a vocal performance in it”. A bit different bag of chips.

This is how the grammy category is listed:

    6. Best Male Pop Vocal Performance
For a solo vocal performance. Singles or Tracks only.

so I beg to differ….this award should be rewarded to the singer with the best vocal. A “song” is a completely different category and goes to the song-writer not the singer.

At one time the Grammys were all about the vocals and the music…now it has tumbled into the well of being about monetary value and electronic finagaling (sp). At least Keisha was snubbed…this gives me hope that some vocal power is still sought after.

  366. If Adam Lambert wins, it’s due to his vocal ability nothing else, no one is saying if Bruno Mars wins he will be the first minority with Puerto Rican and Filipino descent.

It saddens me Adam fans would even consider the gay label being considered when they have heard him repeatedly sing live, his voice alone is award winning. Adam’s voice is Grammy awarding winning.

If not maybe Bruno Mars will get votes being the first minority with Puerto Rican and Filipino descent. I don’t know maybe this can help him get votes. *really*seriously*

  367. @lach1, I agree. Look, award shows are never, ever, EVER, without politics. That Adam was nommed means that RCA pushed for him, and that’s great to know. I’m sure his personality played a part, as did the fact that he’s had a very successful tour and has considerable international appeal. His Majesty’s holy gayness probably played a part as well. No one is ever treated as a disembodied voice.

But, above all this, is his incredible voice. What has always made Adam stand out are his vocals, and what makes him unique is that he does not limit the vocals to dated crap. He is probably the best male pop vocalist out there right now.

I don’t know who’s going to win this, but one thing is absolutely certain: Had Adam’s vocals been anything less than stellar, given the controversy around him, given his AI background, he would not have been nominated.

  368. I so agree with you lach 1. I don’t even understand that. His voice can compete with anyone’s on the same level. He deserves that recognition.

  369. I am so happy and proud to be a fan of Adams. He totally deserves this nomination with his amazing talent no matter how many try to downplay his success. Fan for life.
