When Glee returns in the fall, will Blaine (Darren Criss) propose to Kurt (Chris Colfer)? Will Kurt say yes? We don’t know the answers to these questions yet. But until Season 5 premieres on September 19, we’ll have to satisfy ourselves with some fun hiatus updates.
As we recently reported, Chris Colfer was off to San Francisco earlier this week to participate in the Course for the Force relay at the Skywalker Ranch. The event raises money for the Make a Wish Foundation. The course will wind up in San Diego just a head of Comic Con next week! Chris posted a few fun photos on Instagram. “So excited to have been apart of the #CourseOfTheForce relay for the #MakeAWishFoundation!” he tweeted.
For those of you who are wondering. Yes, the boyfriend, Will Sherrod was there, wearing a “Wookie of the Year” shirt. After the race, Chris changed into an “I love Wookies” t shirt. Aw.
Darren Criss, who just finished up his successful 19 city Listen Up tour, is out promoting his new movie, the comedy, Girl Most Likely, starring Kristen Wiig, whose character is a playwright in the middle of an identity crisis. Darren plays the SNL alum’s love interest, and a member of a cheesy boy band. Yes. He performs in the movie. Annette Benning and Matt Dillon also star. In a recent interview with Out Magazine, Darren shared his thoughts on the role.
“My Girl Most Likely character, Lee, is in a novelty act at one of the casinos in Atlantic City. There’s a Britney Spears character, and I’m in a fake Backstreet Boys group. He’s surrounded by all this absurd caricature, but serves as — and I mean this in the comedic sense—the straight man. You want to be funny, but your job is to look at the audience and go, ‘Is this really happening?’ ”
Darren also dishes on Chris Colfer and Klaine. Darren likes his sleep.
“Chris [Colfer] and I are both very passionate about our own personal projects. I don’t know how he does it. Chris is always busy on set, in the corner with his computer, writing down the next chapter of his next book. I just sleep a lot. That’s when I have a lot of good ideas.”
“People reacted in positive ways to a recent earnest storyline about Kurt and Blaine’s relationship. The only thing I’m surprised about was the lack of any kind of backlash. I think that’s the greatest trick Glee has pulled off: normalizing the subversive. I’m always happy to be on the show. I think it would be cool if they pulled a Saved by the Bell and we all got summer jobs at the same place.”
Oh, and fan girls:
DARREN CRISS: I don’t have too many crazies. The funny thing is that—I’d say that older gay men are basically the same as 16-year-old girls. It all gets lost in the wash. Neither one is any crazier than the other.
Check out some new stills from Girl Most Likely, due to hit theaters on July 19.
