  1. Really looking forward to this episode. The Chris Colfer is one talented guy! They all are; how cool to have a whole cast full of “triple threats!”

  2. This episode is starting off meaner than usual.

Wheels is dancing with himself! He likes Asian Girl – awww.

  3. Kurt @ cheerleading tryouts w/ the baton!!! Lmao!!!

    this episode is epic!!

  4. Fave quote so far…
“You’re irritating most of the time but don’t take that personally”.

  5. “If this sonogram bill doesn’t get paid, it’s not your phone that’s gonna get cut off. YOU are gonna get cut off. ”

    LOL.

  6. new one…
“Let me be clear I still have the use of my penis”
    LOL

  7. “You think this is hard? Try auditioning for Baywatch and being told they are going in another direction”. LMAO

  8. LOL at Puck spiking the cupcakes. Too funny.

I think Rachel and Kurt should just do “Defying Gravity” as a duet. :)

  9. :””””””””””””””””'((((((

this episode was amazing (i would expect nothing less tho)

“let me change into my coveralls…this sweater is an alexander mcqueen.”
    LOL

  10. Once again..I say it every week…this was the best episode to date. As a gay kid once I can totally relate to Kurt. Well sorta, I was called a fag when I was in HS. I was not nearly as flamboyant as Kurt but who is really? Anyway, I just love Glee…the writing is great, the singing is great and it is a total escape…

  11. Amazing eppy. I laughed, I cried, I coveted Kurt’s magical ability to buy Alexander McQueen on his dad’s mechanic’s salary.

‘Let me be clear I still have the use of my penis’

    :D

    I <3 Quinn and Puck.

  12. Great episode. But no Emma?

    Aww, Sue.

    I love Puck.

No wonder Tina’s stutter sounds so fake.

  13. That was the best episode of Glee EVER.

Great music, great drama, great EVERYTHING.

    I adore Artie. I do.

    I CRIED THREE TIMES!

First with Artie and ohmygod I’m blanking on her name, STutter girl, who doesn’ treally stutter, made me all sad.

Sue and her sister made me really choke up.

By the time we got to Kurt and his dad I was a goner for sure.

    Great one liners as always!

“Let me be clear I still have use of my penis” had me rolling.

  14. No wonder Tina’s stutter sounds so fake.

Exactly what I thought, haha. I hope that Tina and Artie can work things out, they are adorable together!

  15. You realize what this PROVES about our taste as modern americans? :-(???

    THAT IT IS AWESOME!!!!!

Cranks Chris Colfer “Defying Gravity” to ONE MILLION!

  16. The best episode since the premiere! I can’t believe Sue Sylvester made me cry. And I’m still a mess from the whole Defying Gravity thing.

  17. Gah!!

I really should have stayed out of this thread until I saw the episode.

    Damn Pacific Time Zone. grrr

  18. This was a great episode! It showed us so much more of each of the characters. Thanks for chicksineggz for posting that Mark Salling video….very cool!! I love love love this show!! And I think I may dislike Quinn even more after this episode….I for one do not like that she’ll end up with Puck….blah!! Puck and Rachel had chemistry last week even though they didn’t make sense, there’s no sparks at all between him and Quinn. Oh well, guess I’ll have to get over it haha! I was kinda bummed over Artie’s reaction to Tina, I get it but at least she tried to come clean right away. Next week’s looks freakin funny with Rachel’s crush….I’m thinking she’s going to end up going through everyone sooner or later…

  19. I think Rachel and Kurt should just do ‘Defying Gravity’ as a duet.

I was thinking the exact same thing! They both sounded great. I didn’t notice lipsynching. It was a great number, as was the ‘wheels’. Thoroughly enjoyable episode!

So, Sue Sylvester has a heart. Good.

I almost felt guilty not watching the CMA.

  20. Why did they make Sue human? I like her evil more.

I love the Kurt and his Dad’s scenes. They made my heart wrench a little.

  21. Once again..I say it every week’ ¦this was the best episode to date. As a gay kid once I can totally relate to Kurt. Well sorta, I was called a fag when I was in HS. I liked your post! :)

  22. Great episode so far, I’m really loving this show, but I’ve really only seen a few episodes

Question though, is Rachel kinda a mean character? Maybe I missed something, but was I the only one who kinda felt for her after Will gave her the part then let Kurt audition? And it didn’t really help that Kurt kinda bitched at her after she said it might be a popularity contest.

But I’m really feeling for Kurt, too. I can’t relate, but it’s really tough for him.

And I’m feeling bad for Finn, he’s being treated badly and getting stressed even though he doesn’t know he’s not really the father. Ugh.

  23. My next door neighbor in college was EXACTLY like Kurt. But, he lacked confidence and made a lot of bad decisions because of it. It’s nice to see how important confidence and self love is to Kurt’s character. I like that they focus on that. GREAT episode. Absolutely loved it.

  24. Question though, is Rachel kinda a mean character? Maybe I missed something, but was I the only one who kinda felt for her after Will gave her the part then let Kurt audition? And it didn’t really help that Kurt kinda bitched at her after she said it might be a popularity contest.

Everyone rags on Rachel- for being ‘too irritating’ (but probably a bit because she’s so damn talented). and Will’s equally bad for letting it slide (I think he actually subconsciously dislikes her tho- because she has more potential than he ever did in getting out of their small ‘hick town’ and actually making something of her self). Its really sad tho, and makes me a bit mad at them. but it also explains why Rachel is who she is. She wants to be a star, because she feels stars will get love, which is what she’s lacking. Also shes a bit ‘easier’ to get with for the guys, because honestly, when nobody is nice to you, you will instantly feel some attachment to anyone who shows you sympathy and care. ie Finn, and Puck for a while- and now Will?

  25. Nice that Kevin McHale and Chris Colfer were featured ‘“ especially Kevin. Quite different from his previous boy band incarnation ‘“ but that’s what makes a good actor. I especially liked ‘Dancing With Myself’. I’d say it was one of the shows best musical numbers, hands down. And I really enjoyed the whole Diva Off ‘“ especially Chris. Hard to believe he’s only 19.

Next week should be even better, I think. Rachel and Will singing together? Yowza!!! I just love that Glee doesn’t ever tie itself to a single point of view. Some situations are obviously contrived (the whole pregnancy/baby daddy thing) – while others ring very true (Kurt’s father having a hard time understanding while still supporting his son). Sometimes characters are presented one-dimensionally (Principal Figgins)….others shown to be painfully real (uncovering more about Sue Sylvester). More, more, more!!!

  26. I was disappointed in this episode. It was long and dragged out all the way to the “Defying Gravity” and wheelcahir scenes. And Quinn/Puck/Finn triangle makes absolutely no sense. Quinn’s insisitence on lying to Finn is OTT.
The previews for next week had the dueling women back on the show. Maybe that will be better. Come on, writers!

  27. This was a great ep. Wow – the Sue and Kurt moments, especially, were very emotional and well done. Moments like that make this show so much more than just a silly soap opera. Sometimes I get a little sick of the constant love triangle/quadrangle plot lines (which are really all over the place). But eps like this, and moments like the ones with Sue and her sister and Kurt and his dad make it so much more than just a fluffy soap show.

  28. I thought i saw the preview of puck telling mercedes that it was his baby. or was i dreaming. i waited all night for that part but nothing. they are dragging out that story line and it’s begining to annoy me esp with puck all up in finn’s face. so imma have to switch and record glee and watch criminal minds live.

  29. The preview with Puck saying that was shown as part of the November previews so it’ll be coming up soon. But yeah I totally agree that the storyline is freaking annoying especially since Quinn is such a blah character that I wish would just go away. She not even one that I like to hate she’s just there taking up space.

  30. This episode was the best one so far. I laughed, I cried. Laughed and cried.

I felt stressed for Finn! I felt the pressure weighing on him for him to step up.

Puck is effing amazing. Love him.

I was suprised that Kurt blew his audition on purpose, but he is so incredibly strong and honorable to give up something he loves for someone he loves. To put somelike like that away for his father is truly amazing.

  31. I don’t need the cheer coaches sappy reason for putting the Downs girl on the team. I guess that was a one show “humanizing” arc they wanted to wrap up.

I guess that I’m in the minority, not one of my favorite episodes. I mean it was highly watchable but it felt kind of forced.

  32. I missed it last night, but just watched it online … better quality and sound for me anyway.

This episode has Emmy written all over it. Writers, Director, Editors, and of course Jane Lynch and Chris Coffer all deserve one. I’ll throw one in for Mike O’Malley as a guest star – though he should be a recurring role.

I loved the story line and I seriously teared up when Sue went to visit her sister and again when Kurt told his Dad he threw the sing off.

Putting the kids in wheelchairs was a great move.

    The music wasn’t bad either.

  33. I also see some kind of an award for this episode. It is deserving of an award from an association devoted to special children’s needs (handicapped).

I don’t think anyone mentioned Britany showing up at the Bake Sale with the Down’s Syndrome child. I believe it was Becky. That was a nice touch to the episode.

    Great job!

  34. I also see some kind of an award for this episode. It is deserving of an award from an association devoted to special children’s needs (handicapped

Well, most organizations that support people who are differently-abled are asking why the show didn’t hire someone who uses a wheelchair in real life to play the part. There are many great actors who use a chair out there. I am sure some can also sing ;).

In a way casting a girl with Down Syndrome almost feels like the show is trying to make up for not casting a person with a “disability” in the first place. As a the coordinator for two counties’ Special Olympics program, I am very happy to see someone with Down in a role, but I also bemoan the fact that special attention has to be made of the fact someone who is differently-abled is purposely included. I guess it is a hurdle we have to overcome. But in a perfect world – which I know we are not in – people would be indcluded in the glee club or the cheer squad based on whether they could sing or cheer no matter if they had intellectual challenges, weight issues or are gay or bald for that matter.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Glee is making great strides in portraying the uniqueness of people from all walks of life ( and I love the show). But even they have a few things to learn.

  35. It was a really good ep. Loved it. Can’t wait for more. :) Also DYING to know if they’ll be singing David A’s version of “Crush” on the show as has been rumored.

  36. The episode lacked enough Will, but was very good. I like the character of Kurt’s dad. You can’t beat unconditional love.

  37. Rachel and Kurt were great. In interviews the kids have been saying they want Adam Lambert to guest. Wouldn’t it be great and they had him sing “Dancing through Life” as he did in the LA production of Wicked. Start first with Rachel then end with Kurt!!!

  38. I finally got a chance to watch this week’s new episode of Glee, and like many of you I was completely blown away. Every story line this week was full of win.

I teared up several times during the episode

Oh MJ you are a big softee….. (Confession….. Me too) I also agree with you about Kurt and Jane’s acting…I hope they get some recognition for it. It may have to be first by the Golden Globes before Emmy gets off it’s snooty behind and recognizes them.

  39. I wish I would of watch Glee from the beginning, dang it. I love this show. I have watch all the episodes from this season but missed last. This show is so much fun to watch. I love all the characters. Thanks for all these great vids MJ. This was a very touching episode. The actors have such great chemistry with one another.

  40. I still tear up when I watch the video of the Diva-off. One good thing is that I finally convinced a few people to give Glee a try, and they tried it THIS WEEK!! I was like, “YES!” I always worry when I suggest people watch this show, because, while it’s definitely not for everyone, some episodes are a little quirkier than others and can put off even the first-time viewer who loves the quirk. This episode was perfect.

  41. Defying Gravity was a really nice moment, except I can’t believe they didn’t edit Colfer’s mistake on the last chorus. He fumbled the lyrics a little bit on his lip sync.

  42. Thank you, ptslittlecomment for providing the right term I was looking for. I hadn’t heard the term differently-abled but thought about disabled instead of handicapped. Your efforts with the Special Olympics are certainly appreciated by many!

  43. Defying Gravity made me extremely happy. It was beautiful to me. It reminded me of the time I sang it in choir, and it almost made me cry. Good times.

  44. I totally agree with you about last nights episode, it was very touching. Chris Colfer did a great job and Jane Lynch! She really pulled off her last scene, the subtlety to which she moved through a range of emotions in 5 seconds as she started reading the story, floored me! Curt’s father was another big reason the episode rocked last night. So kudos to him for stepping it up and delivering another amazing performance. It can’t be easy jumping into a series a couple times during the season to play a minor character who is actually very complex and essential to the story but he is very believable and he always makes an impression. And finally if I would nominate anyone in the cast for an Emmy it would be Lea Michelle. Everyone expects her to be amazing and then they forget she really is amazing. She can sing the phone book and Randy Jackson would listen! For me, for you, for real!! Sorry for the American Idol reference but that reminds me, Lea has a little obsession of wanting to sing with Adam Lambert which I hope pays off because that would be awesome!! Hello why haven’t the writers from Glee thought of a way to write in a part for him yet? This is the perfect opportunity since his album will be released soon and it’s easy incentive to get him on board! Simple story line he does a cameo as himself on a promotional tour for his new album he’s close to Ohio for an appearance and Rachel decides she has to see him in person. Done, now make it happen! LMAO! Looking forward to purchasing his album soon!

  45. I wish I would of watch Glee from the beginning, dang it. I love this show. I have watch all the episodes from this season but missed last. This show is so much fun to watch. I love all the characters. Thanks for all these great vids MJ. This was a very touching episode. The actors have such great chemistry with one another.

Sue, there was no last season for you to miss! I’m not sure why you are under the impression that the show is in it’s second season but this is season 1 right now that is currently airing at 9pm on Fox.

  46. I finally saw it. This is crazy late, but what the heck…

Loved it! Best episode since the pilot! Possibly better than the pilot! Will definitely be among their submissions if they get short listed for the Emmys.

Chris Colfer has a slim shot, but this should definitely be his submission if he makes the short list. Ditto Jane Lynch, and she’s probably a shoe in for the short list. Just amazing.

I’m consistently amazed by the depth of the supporting cast on this show. Ryan Murphy must be over the moon that he landed such a talented cast.

The wheelchair number was the only weak part of the episode. I still think this is the first real clunker of the season. The vocals were karaoke, and the number itself could have been tighter. Go big, or go simple. It was too in between for me (for you).
