Glee Casting: Helen Mirren To Guest Star in Jan 17 Episode

TV Line is reporting that British actress, Helen Mirren has been cast on Glee. But she will not be seen on camera.

Her voice will be heard in the first episode back, “Yes/No” set to air on January 17. According to TV Line, Mirren provides the “inner voice” of a character who shall remain nameless. “Helen came in and secretly recorded several long and hilarious monologues two weeks ago,” says the TV Line source. “Then she visited the kids on set, and they had no idea she was coming; they were stunned.”

The role was written for Mirren before Glee producers approached her. Luckily, a frequent Glee director, Eric Stolz, co-starred with Mirren in the 2007 movie, The Passion of Ayn Rand. He was dispatched to sell her on the idea, but it didn’t take too much arm twisting.

“Helen’s a big fan of the show,” says the source, “and the message it sends out about arts education.”

Hm. I wonder whose which character’s “inner voice” Helen is portraying? My guess is either Rachel (Lea Michele) or Kurt (Chris Colfer). Or maybe even Sugar Motta who b crazee! (Vanessa Lengies)

The episode will also feature Real Housewife NeNe Leakes as a synchronized swimming coach, Roz Washington.
