Gabby Barrett and her husband and guitar player Cade Foehner play a couple through the years in the video for her latest country single “Pick Me Up.”

The clip opens with the two as high school students in what appears to be the 1960s. Gabby’s character is having a bad day, until her boyfriend, played by Cade, takes her for a drive in his pick up truck.

The chorus to “Pick Me Up,” written by Ross Copperman, Gabby Barrett and Jon Nite, goes: “So pick me up, get me lost way out. Down a back two-lane. Little George Strait way on up. Get me outta my head and outta this town. And tell me no matter what. You’ll be by my side. Everything gonna be. alright. Make the world go black, how you do me like that. When I climb up in your truck. Just pick me up.”

Next, the couple are married, have a child and are expecting another. They stress over the bills before Cade’s character gets up out of his chair and turns the radio on. The two dance in the middle of the living room.

In the third and final vignette, Gabby is white haired and old, laying in a hospital bed. Cade’s character, also much older, comes into the room with a flower and sits by her side.

Gabby and Cade met on American Idol

The song is the latest single off of Gabby’s album, Goldmine Deluxe. The country singer met her husband on American Idol in 2018 as contestants. She finished in third place, he finished in fourth. They married in 2019 and had a child Baylah May in 2021.

Soon after leaving American Idol, Gabby signed a record contract with Warner Brothers Nashville. She dropped an album Goldmine, followed by a Deluxe version. It  features her 5x Platinum single “I Hope,” plus the Platinum three-week #1 “The Good Ones,  and third single, “Footprints on the Moon.”

Reigning atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for a record-breaking 27 weeks, “I Hope” was also the first debut single by a solo female artist to top the Country radio charts since 2017 and made her the youngest artist with a #1 debut at Country radio in over two decades.

Recently, Gabby mentored the American Idol contestants, helping them to prepare for their Top 14 performances.
