Frenchie Davis to Compete on The Voice

The upcoming NBC talent competition show, The Voice is taping today, and somebody from @MyIdolTown is in the audience today and is reporting that Season 2 contestant Frenchie Davis has been selected as a contestant on the show.

Idol360.org reports that Frenchie was “was chosen by Christina Aguilera after singing “I Kissed A Girl” by Katy Perry, while Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green and Blake Shelton all passed on her.”

Frenchie was disqualified from American Idol after making the Top 32 when it was reported that she posed topless for an internet site. Since then, she’s made a living appearing in clubs and in theater.

I wonder how many other American Idol contestants The Voice will recycle? Ditto for Simon Cowell’s XFactor.

UPDATE: Here’s an account from EW. Remember, the judges cannot see the contestants before they choose.

“Frenchie is an interesting personality who was left high and dry by Idol, ” said an insider on the show to EW. “It’s an amazing story that Christina picked her despite not having a clue who she was.”

The insider told EW viewers shouldn’t expect The Voice to become a refuge for rejected Idol contestants, but that the show won’t shy away from letting recognizable singers audition either. “The intent here is not to find unknown stars from little towns, it’s about finding the best voice.”
