Emily Brooke American Idol 2016 Season 15 Contestant

Emily Brooke is a 17-year-old country singer-songwriter from Wellington, Florida, who is also a well known American Idol fan favorite from season 14. Living a performer’s life, even at her young age Emily has already toured and experienced life on the road. In addition to touring and releasing her album, Here Right Now, Emily’s other accomplishments include opening for singers such as Charles Kelley, and David Nail, and performing with Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan. According to her Facebook, Emily cites Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Sugarland among others as artists she enjoys. American Idol 15 Top 24 Video Sneak PeekLast year Emily was featured prominently on the 14^th season of American Idol. Wowing the judges with a cover of Carrie Underwood’s, “Blown Away,” Harry Connick Jr. described Emily as “cool” and said he felt like she knew who she is as a performer. Earning her golden ticket, Emily survived Hollywood Week and advanced to the showcase round. However, she was not chosen as one of the top 24 finalists and thus was eliminated.

Over this past summer Emily made a triumphant return to American Idol. At her celebrity judges audition she performed “Careless,” by RaeLynn and received compliments on her growth since last season. Surviving Hollywood Week, Emily sang “So Small,” by Carrie Underwood at the showcase round. Giving a strong enough performance Emily was then finally admitted into the top 24.

Overall Thoughts: I love this girl on so many levels, and it is going to be hard for me to put all my feelings about her upcoming Idol run into words, but here goes. The growth Emily has shown since last year almost makes me glad she was cut last season. While I do also feel that there is some shocking elimination potential in her, for me, Emily is the only contestant I both want to win and think actually could.
