‘Idol’ contestant Joey Cook returns to Newport News with jazzy friends – The music flows through Joey Cook’s brain and her veins, but lately she has had less and less opportunity to let it out. She has a dozen new songs ready to record, but the money’s not there so she works a day job and tries to save and looks forward to any chance to get up on stage. She will get that chance this weekend, surrounded by friendly faces. Cook, who was living in Newport News when she was a scene-stealing finalist on “American Idol” four years ago, will perform at Tradition Brewing Company in City Center on Friday night.
I’m not fortunate enough to just do music full time. We work day jobs. I work at a bakery. I work with kids and teach them how to decorate cupcakes. Kelly Clarkson Dance Challenge
The Voice coach and American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson shared a video on Instagram, saying that philanthropist and breast cancer fundraiser Lilly Tartikoff challenged her to participate in the Dance or Donate challenge. Now she’s asking some of her friends to help.
