Ellie Drennan has won The Voice Australia 2015. The 16-year-old is the youngest contestant to win the series, beating out busker Joe Moore to take the title during tonight’s Live Finale.
Jessie J. was the winning mentor, after only one season on the show.
“What I’ve learnt from Jessie is to always stay true to myself and not let people change you,” said Ellie about her mentor, “because it’s really easy in situations like this to have people take you in other directions and I think she’s always tried to make me stay who I am and she’s always supported me with everything that I decide to do in my life.”
When asked what’s next for the duo, Jessie kept it real, basically saying “You’re on your own kiddo. Good luck.”
“I’m all about tough love, I have to go and do my career,” she said. Jessie leaves Australia for tour on Monday.
“I’m a phone call away, I’m a whatsapp away, I will always be here for advice … but this is it now, big girl world.”
Ellie walks away with $100,000 cash, a recording contract with Universal Music and a car.
Joe Moore and Nathan Hawes, both from Team Benji and Joel Madden, came in second and third in the Grand Finale, with Liam Maihi from Team Ricky Martin taking out fourth place. Delta Goodrem was the fourth team.
Ellie will release a 10 track album on September 11.
