E News is reporting that everybody’s favorite
racist celebrity chef Paula Deen is joining the cast of Dancing With the Stars. The outlet is also reporting that legendary R&B singer, Chaka Khan, is on board as well.
Deen turned down an offer from the show’s producers for season 17. She also declined an offer in 2010, telling Extra that when show reps asked, she admitted to being a fan of the show, but turned it down. “They did ask me and I said no,” she said at the time. “Fat girls don’t look good sweating.” It appears that Paula is ready for that redemption arc.
Nine of the 12 pros were revealed on GMA last week: Karina Smirnoff comes back after sitting last season out, while returning champ Val Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, Artem Chigvintsev, Allison Holker, Witney Carson, Sharna Burgess and Peta Murgatroyd will all be twirling celebrities around the dance floor.
You can also add Keo Motsepe and Emma Slater to that list, according to intel from twitter and other sources.
Cast members already officially announced include Bindi Irwin, Victor Espinoza and Nick Carter.
A few other celebs rumored to be on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars are Bachelorette, Kaitlynn Bristow, Pretty Little Liar’s Shay Mitchell, and gymnast and American Ninja Warrior, Kacy Catanzaro.
It appears Spy Kids actress, Alexa Vega, is a go, as is her husband, Big Time Rush Member, Carlos Pena Jr.
UPDATE: Entertainment Tonight is reporting that “Honey I’m Good” singer, Andy Grammmer will also join the cast.
Additionally, we’ve got confirmation on some pro/celeb pairings, according to sources gleaned from PureDWTS.com and @DWTS360
Alexa Vega – Mark Ballas
Chaka Kahn – Keo Motsepe
Victor Espinoza – Karina Smirnoff
Nick Carter – Sharna Burgess
Carlos Pena, Jr – Witney Carson
By the time September 2 rolls around, when the cast is officially announced on GMA, it will be a mere formality! Dancing with the Stars 21 premieres on ABC September 14.
