This week’s theme is New York and Las Vegas.

The pros and judges start the night with a New York-themed performance.

Up first tonight are DeMarcus and Lindsay with a Foxtrot – What a way to open the show! It was upbeat.

Len said he mastered his footwork. His left arm was a little funky but he was better tonight than last week. Bruno said it looks like he danced all his life like he was dancing through Central Park. If he kicked any higher he would look like the Rockettes. CAI said he said sophistication and elegance but also power.

Tom is talking to two-time champion Mark Ballas, who is on Broadway in Kinky Boots

Next up are Danelle and Artem with a Cha-cha – Danelle was a bit clumsy and offbeat tonight but she sure never gives up! Loved the song choice.

Bruno: RESPECT. She was quite confident. She went on the wrong foot but she recovered. CAI mentions confidence again. Says she is radiant. She just needs to relax but is doing an amazing job. Len commends Artem. Says there was a little mistake but she did it confidently.

John and Emma are dancing a Charleston – Cute story. John was a bit stiff but was still entertaining.

CAI: polished and professional. Great showmanship. Len said he was on the right track. A big improvement from last week. Wanted more Charleston. Terrific performance. Bruno “grand central spectacular mini-musical. a first-class ride.”

Scores: CAI: 8   Len: 7      Bruno: 8    Total: 23 out of 30

Next up are Nancy and Val with a Cha-cha – Nancy is dancing this week with a fractured foot. She was holding back a bit but I felt like the dance lacked choreography. They didn’t even leave the platform. Again, great song choice.

Len said Nancy looked confident. A little mistake but well done! Bruno said she had confidence. She did a few moves wrong but didn’t let it stop the flow of the movement. CAI started tentative, but as the dance progressed she opened up. CAI didn’t see a miss step.

Jordan Fisher and Frankie Muniz fill in for Tom temporarily because they are hosting “DWTS Jr.” Tom sits in a chair. He’s hilarious.

Up next are Alexis and Alan with an Argentine Tango! – I felt like I was watching “Black Swan.” That was on point ;D

Bruno said she was “prima Argentina.” Timing is tricky. Threw in a hard lift. Did a very good job. CAI didn’t like the lift as usual but thought the performance was great. There was so much tension which is what the AT is about. Len didn’t like the ballet stuff. Thought it was a great mix of precision and passion. The best dance so far!

Scores: CAI: 8    Len: 9    Bruno: 8    Total: 25 out of 30

“Grocery Store” Joe and Jenna are dancing to a Foxtrot – He was a bit stiff but a definite improvement from last week. Loved the song.

CAI said she understands it challenging. He has no performances experience. He was telling a story. He is a slow turtle moving. She’s complaining about lifts again but much improved. Len: last week a caterpillar. This week a butterfly. Bruno: Loveable so endearing. Started to move tonight. Nice lines. Good body for a dancer. Use it and have the confidence to go all the way.

Scores: CAI: 5     Len: 6     Bruno: 6      Total: 17 out of 30

Another Argentine Tango coming up from Tinashe and Brandon – Wow. Wow. Wow.  Best of the night so far IMO.

Len said the lifts were spectacular. Thought Brandon went too far from AT flavor. However, it was fantastic. Bruno futuristic fantastic. Like an NY nightclub. Lines, placing, steps of AT were there. CAI was almost speechless. It was graphic. Sharp, strong, and passionate. Futuristic and the bomb.

Scores:     CAI: 9    Len: 8     Bruno: 9     Total: 26 out of 30

Tom mentioned we get a Disney night and Halloween night later this season!!!!

Next are Milo and Witney with a Charleston. – Milo was perfect for the Charleston. He has so much energy. Loved that choreography and story. He is definitely a contender.

Bruno said it was exhilarating. Bursting with excitement. A surprise around every corner.  Legs were incredible. Strong, yet light and bouncy. CAI: Week 2 and it was ridiculously so good. Fabulous. Blew us out of the water. One to remember forever. Len added a lot of lindy hop and Charleston. So much energy. The cast is fantastic this year.

Scores: CAI: 9     Len: 8     Bruno: 9    Total: 26 out of 30

Mary Lou and Sasha are dancing next with the cast of Broadway’s “Beautiful.”- Waltz – Mary Lou has definitely improved from last night. Again, she has that gymnast flexibility and ability.

CAI said halfway through something opened up and she trusted herself. She fills the space. Len said it was a lovely, natural performance. A lovely Waltz. Just watched the shoulders.  Bruno said he was inspired. She let herself go. Embrace the music and moment. She shouldn’t lose her neck.

Scores:   CAI: 8   Len: 7   Bruno: 7    Total: 22 out of 30

Juan Pablo and Cheryl‘s Quickstep is next! – Juan Pablo never seizes to amaze me! Incredible

Len said it was a joyful performance with energy but he needs to work on his frame. Bruno said it was satisfying and a smash hit. The jump was Gene Kelly at the end. CAI said it was her new favorite QS. Cheryl’s signature shazam. Mixed with old school and new school.

Scores: CAI: 9    Len: 8    Bruno:  9      Total: 26 out of 30

Evanna and Keo are dancing to a Samba! – Girl, I’m so proud of you! Loved that. She does need to let loose a little bit though.

Bruno is shocked. Says there is a little devil inside of her and he likes it. Hips, shake! CAI: Watch out ladies. Evanna is coming. She loved the attitude, the core power. She was open and fierce. Len said it was Harry Potter magic. (I suspect the nargles are behind it!) Keo calmed everything down. Gave her a chance to dance.

Scores: CAI: 8    Len: 8   Bruno: 8   Total: 24 out of 30

Last tonight are Bobby and Sharna with a Foxtrot – Again, Bobby surprised us. He has so much energy and even flossed at the end. Sharna looked embarrassed.

CAI said the end wasn’t Foxtrot. His energy is contagious. Len youthful exuberance. Not the most elegant FT. He gives it all he’s got. Bruno thought it was brilliantly bonkers.

Scores: CAI 7    Len: 6   Bruno:  7   Total: 20 out of 30
