Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas Announce Future Now: The Tour

Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas announced this morning on Good Morning America, that they will be embarking on a joint tour, called Future Now: The Tour. It begins June 24 in Sunrise, Fl and will eventually wind up September 17 in Los Angeles, CA.

The news comes on the heels of a report that Demi was set to tour with Adam Lambert, only to make a last minute switch to tour with Nick. TMZ reported that Adam and his team were angry. The singers denied any bad blood, pledging their affection for one another via twitter. “Aww I love you all very much. No beef tween @ddlovato & @nickjonas and me. Biz negotiations are complex- why do we care about the #rumors?” wrote Adam. Demi responded, “Just goes to show how accurate @TMZ really is… I [heart] you @adamlambert”

“Demi and I were business partners and, obviously, have a long history of being friends,” said Nick, “but the chief [thing] for us was about living in this moment, taking a step out individually over the last year-and-a-half, two years, and growing with our fans and then saying, you know, if there was ever a time to do it, it’s now,” He added: “[We’re] so excited to get in front of our fans and rally curate the moment each night.”

Added Demi, “The most important thing is taking the show on the road and getting to share this experience with all the fans that have supported this music for the past, you know, couple of years.”

The two first appeared together in Disney’s Camp Rock in 2008.  Additionally, Nick served as the musical and creative director of Lovato’s Neon Lights tour in 2014.

Nick and Demi are also business partners. The singers launched the Safehouse Records record label in May. “We kind of looked at each other a couple of years ago, about two years ago, and said we each had our own journey with not feeling safe to create…and as an artist you have to be vulnerable to do your best work, or we found that that’s the case,” said Nick.

It’s no wonder the longtime friends and business partners have decided to tour together.
