Another concert stage collapsed due to a storm, this time at the Pukkelpop Festival in Hasselt, Belgium. Reports are sketchy at the moment. The AP is reporting two are dead, Rolling Stone says 4, the Hollywood Reporter says 6.
Unfortunately this is the type of situation where the death toll could rise as more information becomes available.
Le Soir newspaper quoted a witness saying that the sky got dark, winds picked up violently as hailstones pelted those at the concert. Reports say 60, 000 people were attending the event.
The Chicago band Smith Westerns were on stage when the storms came through.
“Stage collapsed max almost got crushed by the tress. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our sh*t is broke, ” Smith Westerns frontman Cullen Omori said on Twitter. The band quickly deleted the message when the extent of the damage began to emerge. “Praying no one got hurt, ” they followed up.
Over the weekend, 5 were killed when a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.
