  1. TRIPLE THREAT TONIGHT!!! I wish I could fly to Houston right now. ;)

I saw those vids yesterday. Cook was in fine form.

An all acoustic David show? *thud*

  2. Thanks for the thread MJ! I heard Mr. Sensitive and Lie, but guess they added Heroes later… Off to check it out.

PS – I think the Michael rumor has been debunked. Just DC and The Script on the bill for tonight… which is plenty.

  3. I flove Acoustic!Dave. I absolutely love Acoustic Heroes.

I like Mr. Sensitive more each time I hear it. And Lie is just fabulous. Awesome stuff.

    Thanks for the thread, MJ.

  4. Yeah , he asked one of the girls who saw him after the DF concert the other day , where this “rumour” started ?? It would be great to see Mavid again but don’t know whether it will happen this time!! The other”MJ” has been known to travel at the last minute before though, so who knows?

  5. It’s so confusing as to whether Michael will be there or not! UGHH!

Well, I’ll be at the show tonight! =) I’ll be extremely happy if we do get the Mavid!

  6. Great set. DC and Neal love it. Lie is just beautiful. I won’t go into it again, wait. No, I will. RCA can suck it. Lie would have been a great single.

Anyway he is pretty adorable with his stories about the green man outfit and Neal winning all his money.

  7. Luuuv acoustic David. Beautiful!! We can really enjoy his voice here. I am kind of upset at the some of his concert youtubes sometimes (for example, last night), because I can’t hear his singing clearly. Anybody with me on this? Don’t you think the band is too loud?

  8. Lie would have been a great single.

    This.
Still my favorite track off DCTR, which it has been pretty much since day one. I just can’t get sick of that song.
And I can’t wait to see him sing it live on Carrie’s Christmas Special.

I’m all for an all acoustic set. I love the band, but I love the VOICE more than anything.

  9. I’m now hoping for an all-acoustic performance from Cookie someday.

Me too, me too. He has played some venues where acoustic performance would have fit well. I hope it happens one day.

Thanks for posting it MJ. The sound quality of these videos are great and David does a beautiful job.
I really like how Mr. Sensitive sounds acoustic, it’s so pretty. Heroes is great too, but I can’t help but sing the “you’re still standing” part lol.

Also, I think this is the first time he does Lie 100% acoustic.

  10. Thank you for this thread MJ. It’s much appreciated. Hope more people will check out this fine acoustic stuff and fun Q&As

  11. Thanks incarcerate for the youtubes. I couldn’t get them to play from the radio station site.

    He sounds so goooood!

  12. I could listen to David talk all day. And I could listen to him and Neal play acoustic guitar for even longer than that.

  13. I just rolled into Houston for the show tonight. Called the venue to see what time doors open and they’re still claiming Michael Johns is opening prior to The Script. It’s even on the poster at the venue:

    http://twitpic.com/on3d5

So who’s the MJ impersonator heading to Canada with Ruben? Just kidding…I think the venue is just a little confused. Here’s MJ and Rubes at the airport:

    http://img35.yfrog.com/i/5q4.jpg/

  14. My ultimate pony is a David Cook acoustic show. I hope some day he does it. Thanks for posting the videos and the link. And I hope that MJ does open but I don’t know how he can. It is a mystery.

  15. I haven’t gone out of Virginia for a show yet but man would I be tempted for an all-acoustic show. I mean, I about lost my mind when I saw his acoustic guitar at the Richmond show and knew we were getting ONE acoustic song. Love, love that voice and as I said before wish we could see more of Neal’s exquisite guitar work.

  16. Just watched the Q&A… I could listen to him talk forever.

But seriously, there was backlash over the silly rubber chicken interview? Whoa. MTV.com, please lighten up.
I wish that stuff like that wouldn’t stop him from posting more videos… I sort of think no matter what he does, someone will always find something to critique, so at some point listening to the naysayers will just result in giving up all the fun.

Loved hearing that there seems to be a long term plan including Idol Gives Back. Have to admit I can’t wait to hear new Cook music.

  17. Beautiful.. I so love his voice…

And he is so good at Q&As too, very intelligent and genuine guy.

  18. yeah who wrote that article on MTV.com? I don’t think it was Jim C. was it? Holy crap it was Jim. Ha!

Sometimes I don’t think it’s fair that everything David does gets a negative spin. That is probably an exaggeration on my part. But it seems that when other people do things the magnifying glass is not put on their motives like it is with DC. I could post a bunch of examples but I think that would just be fanwarring and I think I will just go watch more videos.

Ehh I read Jim’s article and he wasn’t super negative he just said some people could take it as he was jaded. But he still over analyzed it when with other people he would have laughed and agreed with them or found a way to make it funny. Ehh

  19. That’s my first time seeing acoustic Heroes – just beautiful. I would love a whole show of David Cook Unplugged. Loved the Green Man story following the Heroes video. Poor David – he just can’t fool us.

  20. I love him. Plain and simple. He goes away for two weeks and gives me a chance to move on with my life (not that I did, thanks YouTube) and then he comes back with this acoustic set and I’m a puddle on the floor. Again. I think I need a 12 step program for this cookie addiction.

Has anyone seen any mp3s of these performances? I would love these on my iPod.

  21. I so agree with the person who said that everything that David Cook does gets over analyzed. I mean last season he talked to a gay leaning magazine and got shit for it. This season Adam is gay, duh. So Cook getting shit for supporting human rights?

I guess ultimately I’m delighted that Adam brought it so much more to the forefront. I don’t know that ultimately it makes a whole shitload of difference (as attested to in the Maine vote), but someday people will realize that we are all just people after all and we all need to live in the best way we know how. Someday people will realize that there’s nothing Jesus said that should make us hate anybody.

I never expected Michael Johns to appear at a David Cook show. MJ is under the thumb of David Foster. Davids Foster has no use whatsoever for David Cook. He’s all about the perfect voice, whether it moves you or not. David Foster has said nasty things about David Coojk. I’m just delighted, ultimately, that David Cook’s shows blow David Foster’s out of the water, time and time again.

  22. Mr. S and Lie are my two favs from DCTR, and they’re stunning acoustic. I still think Lie could be the next single. I haven’t completely given up hope yet. :)

  23. Thank you incarcerate. You can’t see me, but I am bowing at your feet

  24. I love him. Plain and simple. He goes away for two weeks and gives me a chance to move on with my life (not that I did, thanks YouTube) and then he comes back with this acoustic set and I’m a puddle on the floor. Again. I think I need a 12 step program for this cookie addiction.

LOL, I need help too. I thought by now I’d be at least a little over it? Nope.

  25. Personally, I don’t want help getting over David Cook. I’m delighted to bask in his awesomeness. I’m happy to hear him sing his songs and talk on the radio. He makes me overjoyed each and every time. There’s few people who move me like he does, but I don’t want help getting over the others either. I just bask in the glory that they each bring me.

  26. Prospect of said new song might drive me to listen to cellcast. I don’t LIKE cellcasts.

    Cripes.

Cellcast or proof lecture on sorghum and millet in sub-Saharan Africa? Hmm. Toughie, that.

  27. New song being soundchecked tonight at venue.

    Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! *Is inarticulate with excitement*

    Cellcast, you say?

  28. I love him. Plain and simple.

That pretty much says it all. I’ve seen all these already, and just sat here and watched everything again. Count me in on that all-acoustic show. C’mon Cook, you know you want to! Love the voice with just a simple acoustic guitar. Mr. Sensitive is a completely different song acoustically.

Also could listen to him talk all day. Heck, he could just sit there and smile like a loon for an hour and I would be happy.

  29. I think the break gave a extra infusion of goodness to his voice, these sound awesome. That first “Faaaaaaaallll!” in Heroes, holy mama!

I love how the host is like you sound *amazing* you should go on a contest of something! Hee.

And how he and Neal don’t just come by and strum, they do these whole gorgeously picked elaborate acoustic arrangements.

  30. Geeze, David Cook play yer new song already. What ya waiting fer?

Acoustic goodness is good every once in awhile. His musical director needs to realize the importance of highs and lows in a set and a bit of diversity. Not that I think what they are doing now is wrong, just not everything has to be at 11 all the time.

  31. Thanks for the thread MJ!

One of the cool things to me about David is that he is so incredibly versatile. I’ve been to several shows (and by “several” I mean “too many”) and have totally enjoyed how he and the guys really rock out and put on a high energy experience. But then he can turn around and sing simply and beautifully like he does here, and I love that as well. He keeps it interesting and he keeps it varied, and that makes it fun to be fan.

Really fun Q&A as well. Interesting mention of Idol Gives Back. It seems like that would be a terrific fit for him. I’m seeing kleenex in my future already.

And David? Enough with the teasing already. Bring on the new song dammit!

  32. I love him too. Enough to see shows two days in a row. I made up some silly reason to do so, but ultimately it’s about the david cook that I’m seeing him November 18 and Nove3mber 19. Should you think I’m a tour whore, well I saw him in February once and in July once. Two dates ina row in November don’t equal anything I can figure other than somebody wanting to see the opening acts and wanting to see David Cook one (or 2) last time before his tour ends.

  33. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, but seriously. Can listen to him like that all day. Swooooon. I know he loves his band and all but just give him that guitar and that voice and I can live with that.

New song, c’mmon damnit stop teasing! He’s soundchecked songs he never actually sang before including one of the never-before-heard- songs but I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he won’t keep torturing us. And I still want to know what 14 means, and what the surprise(S) ARE, and what he’s doing for Idol Gives Back..and oh when did his arms start looking like this? *slurp*

  34. New song being soundchecked tonight at venue.

Isn’t this like the 3rd time they’ve soundchecked a “new song”. Play it already!! *flails*

  35. and oh when did his arms start looking like this? *slurp*

Ooh, that’s a nice view… Ahem, of the tats, Yeah.

I’ve managed to stay away from YouTubes for a while, but something sucked me right back in today and I’ve spent way too long watching songs and banter from some recent shows… Way to pull me back in, Cook.

  36. May… I loved your stream of consciousness post.
“…and oh when did his arms start looking like this? *slurp*”

Cause seriously? Hello Nurse. And that is all I will say on the subject.

  37. Isn’t this like the 3rd time they’ve soundchecked a ‘new song’ . Play it already!! *flails*

LOL yes it is. I’m sure it’s more than ready to be heard.
    Stop teasing David.

  38. I wanna hear the new song really bad. Oh and has anyone ever listened to a cellcast? I tried yesterday and the audio was crappy. So if anyone has had a good experience with cellcasts let me know.

  39. ^^ I’ve had some decent experience with cellcasts, but most of the times the audio quality is pretty crappy, a cross between underwater murmers and radio static. Not fun. However I’ll tolerate it if the show holds a special interest (say the unveiling of a new song). Mostly I wait for the YouTubes, which are almost always far superior in audio quality.

  40. http://i37.tinypic.com/2ijm5ps.jpg

Oh, my! Hello, arm porn. Dayum!

I was just coming here to post that pic. I usually try to keep up the pretense of it all just being about the music for me, but Holy Shit! And he looks so deliciously stern.

  41. I’ve had some decent experience with cellcasts, but most of the times the audio quality is pretty crappy, a cross between underwater murmers and radio static.

Ha, yeah, generally… lots of weird noises and sometimes you can actually hear what he’s singing. Banter not so much. Sounds like it is underwater. There were a couple super clear cellcasts but I wouldn’t count on it. Maybe I’ll keep refreshing the show thread on DCO and see if they say anything about a new song and click over to the cellcast if someone mentions it. Hee. I really AM supposed to be working but a girl’s gotta take some breaks :)

  42. I think our Cookie got a little soggy at the end of his Oklahoma show last night. He says it’s the dust in the air’ ¦

Awww! I fricking adore SoggyCookie. He’s so precious. I bet we get a lot of Soggy Cookie as the tour winds down.

I bet we get a lot of Soggy Cookie as the tour winds down.

And Soggy Fans, lol. You only have your first major label tour once. It’s been an amazing ride for him, and so much fun to watch. It’s hard to think of it coming to an end. I’m sure the next tour will be great, but not quite the same as watching the guys take to the road for the first time and come together as a band.

  44. That picture now has me all transfixed on his arms in all the video from last night. Dayum that shirt was, um, nice.

Awww! I fricking adore SoggyCookie. He’s so precious. I bet we get a lot of Soggy Cookie as the tour winds down.

Oh god I just want to squish him. When he talks about finally getting a break after struggling in KC and Tulsa and now having platinum records I teared up :( from I already know how much of a sobbing idiot I’m going to be for the last show, him? They better keep a Costco size box of tissues on that stage.

Apparently he told someone at the M&G tonight there won’t be any surprises tonight, that he’s waiting for the right time. Sigh,

  45. Hey Trina – DC didn’t consider the tattoo or having Andy sing lead on Til I’m Blue to be surprises. So I still expect a normal WTF Cook show

  46. I missed the edit time since Real LIfe pulled me away. So sorry if my previous post was a little incoherent, was rushing too much. Meant that his idea of surprises and ours aren’t always the same.
Here’s that fantastic photo again cause everyone should see it
    http://twitpic.com/oox2e

  47. How could this kid I have never met make me so happy? Love him. Of course, I love the voice too!

  48. How could this kid I have never met make me so happy?

I ask myself the same. I don’t know the guy, I have no delusions of *ever* knowing the guy, but he just makes me happy. Had some rough patches over the last year and it helped to have such a great distraction :) . I’m feeling a bit soggy myself as the tour winds down – what a great year, and it was like watching our baby rock star take his first rock star steps… can’t ever do this process again and I’ve really enjoyed going along for the ride.

Ah, hell. I have to find a way to get to the Norfolk show. Then I can be soggy and know it is my last show of the tour, lol. I can cry on vascot’s shoulder. After I’m done saying WOOOOOOOOOO!

  49. Cookie should sing acoustic all the time. He sounds amazing! So talented, I really enjoyed these clips, thanks MJ.

  50. So happy to see all the Cookie love here. Can’t wait for my 4th Cook concert next week and the NYE concert with my whole family. ^^

  51. tierbee: “Ah, hell. I have to find a way to get to the Norfolk show. Then I can be soggy and know it is my last show of the tour, lol. I can cry on vascot’s shoulder. After I’m done saying WOOOOOOOOOO!”

Hope you can find a way too – It just won’t be the same without you.

  52. Apparently he told someone at the M&G tonight there won’t be any surprises tonight, that he’s waiting for the right time. Sigh

Good lord, the man is SUCH an effing tease.
I have tickets for the NYE blow out as well (whoot!) aga . Planning on bringing enough waterproof mascara for everyone.

  53. Word from Twitter is that Cookie dedicated his song “Heroes” to Ft. Hood tonight

  54. Word from Twitter is that Cookie dedicated his song ‘Heroes’ to Ft. Hood tonight

Wow. Can someone say classy guy? The dude is a step above all the rest.

  55. Currently listening to him sing Declaration under water. Glub, glub, glub :)

(Actually it’s not too bad – you can hear the words anyway, this is good)

  56. Word from Twitter is that Cookie dedicated his song ‘Heroes’ to Ft. Hood tonight

    Aw, he’s awesome.

Heroes always reminds me of the Race for Hope, they played it at the beginning as the race was starting (I believe he said it gave him goosebumps to hear it).

  57. Here’s a TweetVid from tonight’s Houston concert which just ended. Good video, but turn the sound down.

With the sound on it is… interesting… They had a really rocking set tonight. Love them all jamming, that was a cool video (still say Monty is adorable and I want to *smish* him).

  58. He truly is so f’ing special. I look back on his audition when Simon said his friends wouldn’t want him to do well. It’s so funny because Simon had absolutely no clue who David was and how he’d bring his friends along on the amazing ride. I think Simon judged David based on his appearance. Simon really had no clue…

  59. LOL, now I am reading “sassy pants” and thinking of the dancing Union Jacks :)

  60. I really love the acoustic versions of the songs- soulful, simple, honest…

    http://i37.tinypic.com/2ijm5ps.jpg

Oh, my! Hello, arm porn. Dayum

    THANK YOU!!! :) (I’m shallow, I know’ ¦)

Sassycatz: *Sassy* pants? Hmm, maybe we’re related.

    LOL!

  61. His arms are a sight to behold, but honestly I’m all about his eyebrows (if being shallow). They frame his beautiful eyes and give us a hint of who he truly is with their expressiveness. Weird, I know, but I’m a huge fan of Cookie’s eyebrows.

  62. Love acoustic Dave. Always have, always will. :-)

    Thanks for posting, mj!

  63. Heh I normally shut my cell off when I go to sleep but forgot to last night and the text alerts for his middle of the night tweets woke me up. How sad is it that I just sat there smiling?

Something I forgot to mention but has anyone noticed he stopped wearing his rubber bracelets? Last night it looks like he started wearing the gray one again but the Lindsey Rose bracelet I haven’t seen since I think when the break started. His wrist almost looks naked without it. Its odd.

  64. Thank you for posting these videos! I love AcousticDave. The songs are lovely done acoustically, and the style highlights his voice, but I also think that you can learn so much about a musician and his songs by how they hold up when stripped down like this.

  65. trina:

Remember “friendship” bracelets? They were this thing when I was a girl that you made out of colored thread and gave to your besties and you weren’t supposed to take them off, ever, or it meant THE END of your friendship?

And one’s mom was grossed out and complained how dirty they must be (which was part of the point) and eventually, they fell apart, or they really did get so cruddy that they gave you a rash and shamefully, you had to give in and take them off.

I suspect Cookie’s eventually went one of those ways.

  66. He wore those bracelets for a long time, it was probably time to take them off. I was listening to the interview this is my favorite line about “a ficus flows between us”:

“What do I possibly have to be jaded about, I interviewed an inanimate object am I really that jaded?”

    And about “Greenman”:

I’m thinkin “nobody knows who I am” then I go online and everybody like David Cook was dressed as Greenman you could tell by the body stature”

  67. Oh I definitely, without a doubt knew that was him dressed as the Greenman by the body stature. I stared at him long enough in those pants that are now immortalized in the Hard Rock Cafe. Um moving on…

I’m assuming this is the friend he was referring to in his tweet?
    http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/amberbain/journal
    What a sweetheart.

  68. Saw him in concert and hated it. The band was sooo loud couldn’t hear a word he was singing. It was a short set and he didn’t even sing Time of My Life.

I don’t get his personality either..he said some stupid stuff that didn’t make any sense.

My sister was the big fan and she hated it more than I did. No more Cookie for either one of us.

  69. Aw, sorry you didn’t like his show… different strokes for different folks. I loved him so much that I have gone five times and would have gone more if I could afford it :) . He hasn’t been singing Time of My Life and won’t again unless someone ties him down and makes him, lol. Just curious, but were you (like my sister was) thinking he’d do more ballads? She was shocked that his show is a rock show. That’s the transition he’s trying to make between Idol Cook and who he wants to be… part of, I think, why he’s been touring so much (and that he seems to love it – that helps).

  70. Yeah, so I really don’t understand what you people see in this Cook fellow. I mean, who really wants to listen to a voice that sounds like sex dipped in chocoate sing at turns with unrestrained passion and heartbreaking melancholy? Meh, not me. Not my thing. And I do not find the way his fingers nimbly pick the notes or forcibly strum the chords on the strings of his acoustic guitar to be the least bit fascinating. And really, if you’ve seen one picture of a sweaty set of tattooed muscly biceps, you’ve seen them all. Yawn. And I’m really not the type to get verklempt at touching stories like the one told by his friend from Houston. Although, I do really enjoy his hair. So, there’s that.

Yeaaaah….didn’t fool anyone, did I? Hello, acoustic Cook thread, better late than never. So, I have dilemma. Which Mr. Sensitive do I prefer…the surprising acoustic version above, or this new rockin performance from Shawnee with the guitar action during the bridge. It’s almost like the lyrics tell two different stories with the two interpretations. YKWIM? By the way, have I mentioned that I did, in fact, get to see a very rare acoustic set at the HOB about a year ago? I have? Hee. I think Dave and Neal have come a long way even since then because I don’t remember Mr. Sensitive unplugged sounding quite like that. Made me wish for a wider angle on these vids so that I could see Neal’s guitar work, too. It’s a shame they don’t do the acoustic Declaration more often because I do remember being most pleasantly surprised by that one last year and I’d like to hear what they’d do with it now. Two more weeks or so until my second concert, btw. I so can’t wait. I’m hoping I get ADAM or IJDIYA this time…or Anodyne…or better yet, the sooper sekrit surprise song, in which case I can not be held responsible for any embarrassing flailage that might ensue. It’s all his fault.

  71. Ha, I hope you get the super mystery surprise teasing Cookie song too :) . I don’t even know if I get another show so I won’t be greedy and say to save it for me. David doesn’t listen to me anyway… dangit ;)

  72. Yeah, TOML is just NOT what he is about as an artist. As successful as the song was, I sometimes see the song as an albatross for him artistically because (1) he has fans who got to know him first because of that song and pegged him as a TOML-type artist, (2) it’s my belief that the songs in his album were chosen and produced so they were more pop/AC in order to be closer stylistically to TOML, and (3) his singles were chosen in relation to TOML so he would retain the fans of that song vs.songs that represented the album.

I think the way he’s presented the songs in concert was more what he had in mind when he wrote the album.

Word to that entire post especially the last sentence. I think that was his intent as well. I don’t think he’s ungrateful for the success it brought him but I can’t blame him for wanting to shake the song off completely after the AI tour ended last year. For those of us who have been to at least one show (or at least me anyway) aren’t complaining.

Love love loved seeing those acoustic vids again! Thanks for posting them mj! :)

P.S. Sunchick, don’t ever change k? Hee I hope you get your super seekrit song too. :)

  74. Although, I do really enjoy his hair. So, there’s that.

LOL sunchick, glad there’s *something* that keeps you coming back for more.

    Keel:

I think the way he’s presented the songs in concert was more what he had in mind when he wrote the album.

So very much agreed. I loved the album when I got it last year and I’m still listening to it in my car these many months later, but it was clear there had been compromises made to get the final product. These past 9 months of watching and hearing these songs develop has been fascinating and more fun than I could ever have thought possible. I think it just goes to show that for me, there are some *really* strong songs in there, because I have yet to tire of them.

And then we get the extra added bonus of hearing them stripped down again, but with almost a year’s worth of road testing to figure out how to present each song at its best and I’m entranced all over again. I love being able to watch musicians *work*.

See, the cookie crumbs are educational as well as delicious. *g*

  75. That picture explains so much. I saw this tweet and bursted out laughing

@RachelParkerPixJust had my face melted off by david cook. Right thru my camera”

But then I saw that Twitpic and, uhh.. I feel bad for her and her camera. I hope the camera survived that.

  76. But then I saw that Twitpic and, uhh.. I feel bad for her and her camera. I hope the camera survived that.

Hee. The arm porn alone would’ve killed me but… sheesh. Cookie. Really :)

  77. I had my first Cook show a couple months ago and had the complete opposite experience of princessdi, I guess. It was loud, but I expected that. The band and David was just as good as I expected and I was able to make out the words just fine. I love bands that sound just as good as their album and even better live. I never expected TOML to be played and I don’t hate the song, LOL. Plus, my bro is now a fan. I’m bummed I can’t make another. I’ll have to commiserate with the rest of ya when his tour is over.

  78. It was loud, but I expected that. The band and David was just as good as I expected and I was able to make out the words just fine.

For my one and only concert, I brought along a friend. She wasn’t familiar with Dave’s music and she did say that she couldn’t make out the words — which is to be expected when you don’ t know the songs. BUT she did say that she understood why I was a fan because she liked the music itself. She turned to me a few times during the concert to say “that’s a keeper” or something similar about a song. I was really happy about that because I was wondering how Dave’s music played to the unitiated. I tend to be a music first, lyrics second person, so this was good to hear. (I’d been to another concert with her earlier in the year where she also didn’t know the act, and she only said that once to me the entire night. My friend tends to be an R&B/Top40 fan while I tend to be a HAC/rock fan.)

  79. I’ll have to commiserate with the rest of ya when his tour is over.

We’ll have to step up the group hugging. It got us through the 2 wk break… well, that and the fact that he didn’t seem to realize he was taking a break and we got fed a steady diet of Cookie crumbs ;)

  80. Awwww. The reality of the neverending tour actually ending hasn’t quite sunk in yet. I’m kinda hoping that while he’s holed up writing he will leak some new song snippets or give us some hints as to how it’s going or something. (Beats tweeting pictures of his dinner anyway…)

Have you guys seen this tweet…

@amyshaped: David Cook right. on. top. of. me. Holy sh**!!!!!! Best night evah!!!

~raises eyebrow~ Did I mention I’m reeeallly looking forward to that concert?

That sounds wrong on sooo many levels. Haha

  82. So he told someone at the M&G last night he won’t reveal what the “14” tatt means because he’s having way too much fun reading everyones guesses on Twitter. Did I call it or what?

  83. I don’t get his personality either..he said some stupid stuff that didn’t make any sense.

Now, I get not enjoying the show if you were expecting TOML and the like in the set list.

And I admit that I wasn’t at this show.

But from the youtubes, the banter included:

    * a note about the bonus track being available at Walmart (in case people who didn’t have that song were wondering about it)
    * enjoying his time in Houston and possibly moving back (because he was born there)
    * complimenting the Script and talking about how he’d had the chance to gamble with them at their recent casino stay (and, I’m assuming, winning some money off them)
    * having some problems with his ear monitors and making sure that the sound problems weren’t affecting the audience, too
    * thanking the audience for the length of the tour, and pointing out that HFT was originally brought into the setlist because they started out playing colleges and thought it would be fun

Even putting aside the presumably heartfelt comments about Ft. Hood and about having friends in the audience, I don’t consider any of the above stupid or nonsensical. And I’m one who thinks he has occasionally confused “bantering” with “rambling”.

Anyway, add me to the list of people who hope that sunchick gets some sooper sekrit fun.

  84. So he told someone at the M&G last night he won’t reveal what the ’14’ ³ tatt means because he’s having way too much fun reading everyones guesses on Twitter. Did I call it or what?

Dangit. I really really wanted to know. Ah well. Maybe someday when
people give up. I’m not going to even try to figure out what it means. :p
