David Cook – ‘Declaration’ – Live With Regis And Kelly – VIDEO

David Cook taped an episode of   Live With Regis and Kelly in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, that aired this morning.

In his pre-performance chat, David tells Regis and Kelly (Kelly dressed in a wedding gown!?!) that he won big at blackjack!

After, David and his band performed “Declaration” from his self-titled album, David Cook.

The video isn’t the best quality.   If a higher quality vid shows up, I’ll replace…,

  1. So I so love this dude, but I hate how they chopped up his song. I could show you so many instances on tour where it was 90% better. I don’t know that this performance did him and the band any favors. Ultimately I guess this whole segment is about Regis and his little chit, oh wait, Kelly Lee, is that her name? Any how the chick who is stuck wearing a wedding gown (who would ever agree to that?)

  2. That was very nice having David Cook on my TV this morning. Even if they stuck Neal, who I have decided is adorable, in the dark!

  3. Thanks, MJ! And thanks to the others who posted clips.

Sigh, just what, 4-5 more shows left until their break?

  4. Ummmm…I thought they taped this yesterday, Sun 11/22, in Vegas? If not, what were David & the Anthemic taping in Vegas yesterday? Wah! I can’t watch at work! Awwww…we want to see Neal too!

  5. This was just taped on this weekend, I believe, not a few weeks ago(but I shouldn’t nitpick). Love seeing David on TV and on this blog & in this thread!
There are some cute photos floating around of DC & band posed with showgirls.
and – It just wouldn’t be David Cook & The Anthemic without NealfingTiemann!

  6. Thanks mj for this thread. Glad to see someone on TV that’s there for the music.

  7. Yes, it was taped this weekend in Vegas. Via Twitter, sounds like they flew out of Vegas last night.

  8. Pretty sure this was taped this weekend. I was happily surprised when I turned my TV on this morning and it was still set to ABC. There was David walking out onto the stage.

He and the band sounded great. What an unexpected treat.

  9. Thanks mj for this thread. Glad to see someone on TV that’s there for the music.

    I echo that sentiment.

On another note, David taped this yesterday. On DCO some chick won tickets and saw the taping yesterday.

  10. It was kind of a nice little wink that he played “Declaration,” which gave the Awesome Tour of Endless its name, since I think this is the last time he’s scheduled to be on TV for a while. Nice touch.

Well, there will be the sounds like loads of fun holiday special with Carrie, but that’s already taped and in the past for him, though in the future for us!! Yayy!

  11. I’m sensing he’ll get bored during the break and do random Q&A’s. Gotta hold us over somehow.

And yes, Carrie’s holiday special! Looking forward to the duet and “Lie’s”!!!

  12. Well, there will be the sounds like loads of fun holiday special with Carrie, but that’s already taped and in the past for him, though in the future for us!! Yayy!

And that Extreme Home Makeover thing – keep appearing on my TV, Cookie. It gives me my fix. Well, that and going to the show 12/2 – YAHOO! vascot, I am so excited, lol. One more show in the neverending yet almost ending tour (sob).

  13. Oh, the comfort and joy of watching DC perform on TV. How I’ve missed this feeling.
    ILU, Cook. Don’t ever change.

  14. David Cook, “making good records and playing good shows, and letting the rest take care of itself”. You gotta love him, he’s such a professional. It’s always a good day when he’s on my TV screen.

  15. What a cute little mini belly he’s got there. Hee.

It’s actually amazing how awesome and pumped he’s looked lately, given how long they’ve been on the road. No signs of road weariness in him or his band at all. They sound and look great.

  16. He sounded great. Alas, they cut a verse out of the song. Apparently R&K have a pretty hard rule about not letting performers sing for more than 2:40. For what reason, I have no idea.

  17. What a cute little mini belly he’s got there. Hee.

It’s funny that he has that thing as slender as he is – when I see him at the shows, I’m always struck by how much *smaller* he is than I expected. But someone said on another board that a lot of it is how he stands… my brother stands like that, kinda swaybacked and sticks his belly out?

(Admission, though, I am inordinately fond of the tummy. Hee).

  18. Alas, they cut a verse out of the song. Apparently R&K have a pretty hard rule about not letting performers sing for more than 2:40.

I know, when he skipped that verse I was like… noooo! Sing MORE! (Then maybe they would’ve had time to bring Neal out of the shadows, lol)

  19. It’s always great to have David on TV!
I love Declaration, and he did it great. He also looked really good.
LOL I still think it’s funny he’s a guest just because… it’s not like he has something out there. I guess that’s what you get for being a good performer and a great guy.

  20. What a treat to hear that voice. Such a classy dude. Don’t ever change Cookie and keep those appearances coming thru the drought. LU.
Why is he never on Letterman like all the other Idols ???? I think he should have appeared on DWTS also and given a classy performance on the AMA’s. C’mon RCA and 19E this guy has worked his butt off for you.

  21. i posted in the headlines thread, but i just can’t keep my mouth shut when i see a dc post. waking up to cookie in the morning is like slipping on the flannel pajamas and ugg slippers after a day in the snow. like eating homemade chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese on a chilly december day. comfort food. good for the soul. still love him. lie to me and tell me the tour isn’t ending.

  22. lie to me and tell me the tour isn’t ending

Awwww…this is exactly how I feel. I’m going to all 3 Florida shows this weekend and all I could think about this morning was that this time next week, the Declaration Tour would be over for me once and for all…so sad. Maybe seeing David and the boys on the HD big screen when I get home will make me feel better. Is 3:34pm too early to duck out of work?

  23. Why is he never on Letterman like all the other Idols ????

Because he’s been on Leno too often. The booking people were notoriously particular about getting on one or the other. Now that Leno is not a direct competitor, he might get a shot for promotion on Letterman for his next album.

Also, I bet he and his team are thanking their stars that he had this gig yesterday. Because this tweet?

@thedavidcook After flying over night, I’m resisting the urge to tweet some Gary Busey-esque rant about how tired I am… TO BED!!!!

Is genius of the highest order.

“Well, America, I was absolutely planning on watching and congratulating my fellow Idol alumni on their AMA performances last night, but unfortunately, I had to fly across the country in the middle of the night, so I missed the West Coast feed. Shucks.”

My hat is tipped to you, sir. (And to KC; she, at least, was fantastic.)

  24. not a fan, but have to admire the guy. he is a very hardworking musician and did not let his success get into his head. well, his skull is still huge, lol. seems like a great guy, nothing fake about him.

  25. Here’s one that David tweeted:

    http://twitpic.com/qjd70

    Bwah! That was awesome.

I caught David this morning on R&K, too, since I hadn’t changed the channel from last night’s AMAs and, yeah, it’s genuinely refreshing to see somebody who hasn’t let his success go to his head or affect his work ethic. He’s a class act and a mensch.

  26. I guess the end of the tour is one theory, but I still think it’s curious he did “Declaration.” I can see him saying thanks to the fans with that song one mo time, but how did he score the R&K gig with nothing new to promote?

    Just curious to me.

  27. Now there is a guy who doesn’t have to TRY and be sexy, he just IS. As Paula said, when ya got it, ya got it. What a voice! He is so relaxed and charming in interviews. He is just such a pro and class act. He is my favorite Idol ever! Actually David taped this just this past weekend, not a couple of weeks ago.

  28. I don’t care how he scored the gig, I’m just glad he did. Good for reminding people what a great talent is out there.

and previous poster was right on about his tweet about flying, going to sleep last night. whether planned or not it turned out genius.

  29. Regis and Kelly have it on their site, if someone wants better quality

    Thank you!

    He’s a class act and a mensch.

    That he most definitely is.

  30. Regis and Kelly have it on their site, if someone wants better quality

Better quality but it doesn’t have that funny little ending where Kelly is bouncing around in her wedding dress while David plays guitar next to her. Trade-offs. Trade-offs.

  31. This so on the shallow side, but didn’t he look incredibly handsome? Wow. He always sounds great. If I could get one wish…I would want to be that microphone…just sayin’. Now that boy is one sexy rocker.

  32. he is a very hardworking musician and did not let his success get into his head. well, his skull is still huge, lol.

He actually joked about the “massive skull” at a recent concert. Someone gave him a chef’s apron (I know) onstage and he tried to put it on. Couldn’t get it over his head! He then said something like, “well, you all saw my baby pictures, I still have a massive skull.”

    Love that self-deprecating humor.

  33. He actually joked about the ‘massive skull’ at a recent concert. Someone gave him a chef’s apron (I know) onstage and he tried to put it on. Couldn’t get it over his head! He then said something like, ‘well, you all saw my baby pictures, I still have a massive skull.’

Here the massive skull banter is. I laughed so hard.

  34. Sorry if my vids that MJ posted are not the best quality, but I did the best I could. I just wanted to share them, since there were no “official” videos from R & K out yet.

  35. OK – I am totally jealous that Balance gets to see 3 shows! Lucky Lucky person! Count me in on being sad that this awesome tour is coming to an end.

  36. Also, I bet he and his team are thanking their stars that he had this gig yesterday. Because this tweet?

@thedavidcook After flying over night, I’m resisting the urge to tweet some Gary Busey-esque rant about how tired I am’ ¦ TO BED!!!!

Is genius of the highest order.

Maybe he booked himself on purpose to be *totally inaccessible* while the AMAs went down? All for the best, then!

  37. This is just speculation on my part, but I have heard that he has become quite close to Jimmy Kimmel, and guess who Jimmy is good buddies with? Regis. Also, Jimmy was the guest on the R&K show that was taping in Vegas immediately after DC’s on the same day (I guess they do several tapings per day?). Who knows, but it kinda makes sense: they both LOVE baseball and sports in general, golf badly and like to gamble.

  38. LOl! Thanks for bringing over the apron video. That was hilarious. I love his banter.

  39. Sorry if my vids that MJ posted are not the best quality, but I did the best I could. I just wanted to share them, since there were no ‘official’ videos from R & K out yet.

jenipop, If it wasn’t for you videos many of us would’ve had no way to watch DC’s appearance in full. The quality is truly secondary. Thank you very much for capturing and uploading this for your fellow DC fans. Much appreciated.

  40. Dave and the band were great this morning. Loved it! He’s a class act!

  41. Okay, I think we’ve established that this was recorded yesterday, LOL.

So nice to have David sing Declaration, my favorite song of his, on TV again.

  42. jenipop, If it wasn’t for you videos many of us would’ve had no way to watch DC’s appearance in full. The quality is truly secondary. Thank you very much for capturing and uploading this for your fellow DC fans. Much appreciated.

Thanks, Jolene. I appreciate the the kind words. Glad you liked them.

  43. So what besides this Regis and Kelly, and an AI performance, and the upcoming TV special has David done nationally since last New Years? Is he a regular on the talk shows? Has he been performing as the award shows? Didn’t Archie get some National Award show?

Just curous….don’t follow Cookie much, but you guys were mentioning how nice it is to see him on TV again.

  44. Oh hai Declaration. You can pop up any time you like.

I don’t care how he scored the gig, I’m just glad he did. Good for reminding people what a great talent is out there.

Yup. Not a bad idea to sing impressively on TV lookin all hawt and stuff the week of Black Friday, even if his album is technically a year!!! old. Plus, it’s Vegas baby.

Still LOL at Neal Tiemann, man of mystery. I think it was an accidental byproduct of the Vegas stage semantics, even so, it looked awesomely badass to see Neal all swathed in shadow while the rest of the band was properly lit.

Tess, off the top of my head there was Ellen, and the MLB All Star Game, and ESPN a couple times. He’s done Kimmel twice I think, Leno twice?

  45. So what besides this Regis and Kelly, and an AI performance, and the upcoming TV special has David done nationally since last New Years?

Well, not counting his two appearances during AI8, off the top of my head, I know he was on Jimmy Kimmel for a concert (kinda like Carrie did last week), Ellen (for CBTM), GMA, R&K (again), Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (for CBTM), Baseball Tonight (just because), ESPN (singing during the Home Run Derby for the MLB All Star Game), and Larry King Live. There’s probably more but that’s all that I recall.

    ETA:

So nice to have David sing Declaration, my favorite song of his, on TV again.

Mine too! Love this song. At this point I’m like Pavlov’s dog. I hear the opening chords and I am insta-happy.

  46. Can I tell you how much I <3 this man's massive skull? It holds the brains of awesome.

  47. I totally am in love with this man’s massive skull. It holds the brains of awesomeness.

  48. David was on GMA in early August with those two guys who came in first and second on AI8. ;-)

  49. maturin

It was kind of a nice little wink that he played ‘Declaration,’ which gave the Awesome Tour of Endless its name

ITA. Also a nice nod to the SNL performance, just a little over a year ago. I watched that in a fit of nostalgia last night and had forgotten how nervous he was at the beginning (though not as nervous as he’d been for LO, which IIRC he played first) but I *had* remembered how happy he was at the and, and how he just soared into the bridge. I love that bridge — it’s one of my favorites in all his songs.

    Keel

It’s actually amazing how awesome and pumped he’s looked lately, given how long they’ve been on the road. No signs of road weariness in him or his band at all. They sound and look great.

Isn’t is amazing? By all rights they should be raggedy as hell and at each other’s throats. *g* Instead they sound fit, tight and happy to still be together. Good job, guys.

  50. ETA: Wouldn’t let me edit, but as I recall, Cook was also on VH1 Top 20 Countdown twice for interviews (kinda like Kris had last week) and also appeared on Best Week Ever (again) for the Armpit Farts/Independence Day Speech (classic!).

[. . . why, oh why is this type of knowledge taking up space in my brain? As that dude on NPR said about AI, if all this fandom stuff wasn’t taking up space in my brain, I’d have learned French by now.]

ETA: D’oh! So right, Sassycatz. I forgot about his ‘other’ GMA appearance this past summer/fall. Good thing too, because that part of my brain that would have stored that information is the part that’s reminding me to breathe and blink every once in a while.

  51. Awwww David. Love him! I hate the second verse got cut too but I’m glad at least we got to see his face on tv again. Thanks for posting mj. :)

I still love him and his massive skull.

  52. This will be embarassing but here I go. I had a dream I married Neal. When I took him to my dad the only thing my dad didn’t like was his voice. Lol Despite the fact he drinks, smokes, has tattoos, piercings, and swears. My dad didn’t like the way he sounded! That’s so unlike him in RL!

On another note Davids hair doesn’t look as bad as it usually does. Hehe

  53. Tess

So what besides this Regis and Kelly, and an AI performance, and the upcoming TV special has David done nationally since last New Years?

Since last New Year’s? All of 09, what were the TV highlights, hmm, that I recall without looking

He did Kimmel in January I think, right before starting his tour and going to Iraqwith USO (second time, playing Light On, first was just a post win interview)

Big return to AI to debut Come Back to Me – nice because it gave the album another 40,000 bump

Did Come Back to me on all the morning shows, won’t look up but recall GMA (3 song set), and Reg & Kelly

    Did Ellen (second time)

Leno a second time somewhere in there, right?

VH1 2x for Come Back to Me, when it debuted and when it was at number one

AI Finale – Permanent > sold about 130,000 copies during that week and the next

He was on tour all summer, less TV

    All-Star Game pre-show

    GMA Central Park with Kradam

Song used in World Series pre-show (not performance, just recorded)

–probably forgetting a few, but yeah while he was still on TV a lot up through late spring, during the summer and fall became more widely spaced

Lots and lots of little local TV and radio station studio gigs on video, and hey, great to have him get the big sports promo, but we missed him not being on national TV so much.

The other thing for Cook and co was just their committment to incessant touring, he’s broken the record for a new Idol tour, and many weeks had 4 gigs in them. Did that effect the media strategy, I dunno.

Course he’s got that Carrie special taped to wrap up the year.

  54. I have heard that he has become quite close to Jimmy Kimmel, and guess who Jimmy is good buddies with? Regis. Also, Jimmy was the guest on the R&K show that was taping in Vegas immediately after DC’s on the same day (I guess they do several tapings per day?). Who knows, but it kinda makes sense: they both LOVE baseball and sports in general, golf badly and like to gamble.

Not only do R&K love David, but their producer does too. For a good part of the year, they would occasionally play Light On in bumps to and from commercial breaks (not just on shows where David was booked). And yes, Jimmy Kimmel has golfed with David in LA.

I am a little surprised when any talk show books a guest that’s not promoting something – Carson always had his favorite guests and friends on “just because,” but that’s a little more rare these days. It’s nice that R&K and their producer(s) think so highly of David that they viewed him as a cool guest for their first day in Vegas. I suspect Ellen will do the same since A) she adores him and B) she’s now an Idol judge and David will be a great guest to have on this winter/spring (while David is in LA working on the record) to shoot the Idol breeze.

Nobody sells David Cook better than David Cook. He’s built up a tremendous amount of good will with the media (from entertainment to the press). In my other posts about Adam’s AMA performance and his reaction/statements, I tried to make a point that he’s doing just the opposite with the media (including ABC, Dick Clark Productions and some reporters).

  55. Wow – some people have got good memories!

To be honest, this was an odd little appearance, for no apparent reason.

But, I’m never averse to seeing Cook and the Anthemic, however weird the circumstances.

  56. Keel

Oh yeah, I forgot the Larry King interview in the spring, which was actually moving. They touched on the tour and on David’s brother.

And Jimmy Fallon, too. Does anyone else lose track of the ever proliferating nighttime dudes: Letterman, Leno, Conan, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Craig Ferguson . . . I can’t even remember who’s on when anymore . . .

  57. The other thing for Cook and co was just their committment to incessant touring, he’s broken the record for a new Idol tour, and many weeks had 4 gigs in them. Did that effect the media strategy, I dunno.

Yeah, there were periods when he was out in the hinterlands and not in the national eye, which may hurt him at award nominations time, unfortunately.

  58. Well good for Cookie…some nice appearances. And hopefully he will have more as his new album comes to fruition.

  59. EEEEEEEEEE I can’t wait to get home so I can watch videos! I have no DVR capabilities and so constantly depend on YOU ALL to hook me up with the best vids and sources for same.

Keel, yeah, I think I could’ve learned at LEAST French if Cook hadn’t taken over my brainz…brainz…Cooooooooooook…must see Cook…hear Cook…argh. Je t’aime Cook? Is that right? I did take 2 years of college French! LOL!

He’s been all over the place this year, meaning in the media. Well AND geographically speaking. The media stuff is pretty amazing considering the dang tewer he’s been on. He says it started Feb 14 (awww) but if I recall, they were in Afghanistan and Iraq for 2 or 3 weeks in January before that!

I can’t wait for whatever these guys do to us next year. DCATA FTMFW.

  60. Don’t forget Free Radio on VH1. And in addition to doing Baseball Tonight he also did SportsCenter on ESPN. Oh, and he and the band were featured in interviews and performance vids when Heroes was used as the theme song to the ACC and SEC basketball tournaments last spring.

  61. Wasn’t he on on Fuse TV too? Or was that mentioned already? He also did endless Radio this year as well. He makes for a great interview!

  62. I think part of the reason that David wasn’t on that many talk shows was not only because he was on tour but also because they only released two singles from the cd. Seems like every single they release has another round of the talk shows.

  63. And yes, Jimmy Kimmel has golfed with David in LA.

Really!?! I didn’t know that. The boy sure has a knack for making friends.

So wonderful to see David on TV again, no matter what the reason. He sounded and looked terrific. Love him.

Yes, Scott, this little thread is a nice, calm oasis of pretty today.

  64. Oooh, yes! A DC thread! Always my happy place!

I love him. That is all.

  65. The boy sure has a knack for making friends.

He’s just a genuinely nice person. He’s earned my friendship. I’m fairly certain that he doesn’t know it but he’s my BFF.

  66. Oh, and he and the band were featured in interviews and performance vids when Heroes was used as the theme song to the ACC and SEC basketball tournaments last spring.

I enjoyed that immensely – David Cook and my Tarheels all at once? YES!

  67. And when he went golfing with Raine Maida and Rob Cavalo, that was in the news too. He did a lot of radio and newspaper interviews, and was on the red carpet for the Michael Jackson movie premiere.

He also just filmed Carrie’s special and the Home Makeover show, which will both air soon.

  68. It was nice to see DC and the boys on TV today, they sounded great.
I was at the massive skull banter concert and he was amazing … I could listen to him banter for hours.

  69. Was this Monty’s first TV gig, or was that GMA? Also, SATURDAY!!!! I so can’t wait.

  70. Thank you so much for posting this, MJ! I was at work when it aired here, and would not have gotten to see it until tomorrow at the earliest.

Damn, he sounds good, even in a rough youtube.

  71. I was at work when it aired here, and would not have gotten to see it until tomorrow at the earliest.

Sometimes being a stay at home mommy works out very well for me – I dropped my little one off at preschool, came home and sat on my couch and grinned at David (am glad hubby wasn’t here, would’ve gotten the dreaded eye roll), and then still had time to work for a hour before I went and picked him back up. YAY!

  72. Nice, Tierbee.

Monty was also on the GMA summer show. That was right after he started with the band.

  73. Thanks FF. I just realized that while this kind of thing is old hat for Dave, Kyle, Neal, and Andy, it’s still kinda new for Monty. He seemed pretty dang chill back there.

  74. I have to join the party ! He served as a D.J. on sattelite radio and on an L.A. station nightly for an hour back in October.

  75. And when he went golfing with Raine Maida and Rob Cavalo,

And the lesson here is … just like in more prosaic businesses, up and coming WOMEN artists should learn to golf. If it works for female execs in corporations, I guess it works for peeps in the arts as well! ;-)

Thanks FF. I just realized that while this kind of thing is old hat for Dave, Kyle, Neal, and Andy, it’s still kinda new for Monty.

As for Monty, he better get used to these high profile gigs as I’m guessing he’s sticking around, huh?

  76. I just realized that while this kind of thing is old hat for Dave, Kyle, Neal, and Andy, it’s still kinda new for Monty.

Does anything get Monty rattled? He seems like such a chilled out (and smiley) guy!

  77. tierbee: “Well, that and going to the show 12/2 ‘“ YAHOO! vascot, I am so excited, lol.”

    Heck yes – cannot wait!

  78. Remember when Ellen tweeted about the Script opening for “MY FRIEND DAVID COOK”? I loved that. He has actually been on Ellen three times in total right? Winning AI, Light O and CBTM…

I know he and Kimmel also did that Cancer charity fundraiser together too.

  79. Thanks for posting theses MJ, David has been on the TV quite a bit considering that he has been on a tour that will have 150+ dates. Last week for the tour guys, it makes me sad.

  80. I may have missed it – but did anyone mention his appearance on VH1s Free Radio

He plays the straight man. “Your hair was so gay when you started”

LOL And then there were the Extras

“A year ago you wouldn’t be talking to celebrity dj Lance.”

  81. Comes back in here and pets thread lovingly. It’s a peaceful place :)

(And now I’m laughing again thinking about someone tweeting David that his ass can bring World Peace)

  82. *hugs thread* work was a total bitch today so I’m just now watching this and catching up on everything. Love him!

  83. I only watched the last half of the show, but that was one weird half hour, lol. Wedding dress and synchronized swimming. Good thing Kelly didn’t get confused and jump in the pool in the wedding dress. But then along came that breath of fresh air known as TheDavidCook, and all was well in the land again.

    Lovable, yes.

  84. You know, I was thinking DC has gone over 140 concerts without a crotch-grab.
    There have been ass-grabs however.

  85. oceana

When does the tour end? I’ll be seeing him in Norfolk on Dec 2.

I think that’s the last day of the official tour. The Pechanga NYE shows are a separate bokking as I understand it.

  86. There have been ass-grabs however.

Apparently that left a handprint! That poor, sweet ass :)

  87. And when he went golfing with Raine Maida and Rob Cavalo,

And the lesson here is ‘ ¦ just like in more prosaic businesses, up and coming WOMEN artists should learn to golf.

And if David Cook is any example, you don’t even have to be very good at it. Heh. (Sorry rockstar bf. I keed because I wuv.)

  88. Apparently that left a handprint! That poor, sweet ass

    Is there video of this?????

  89. Apparently that left a handprint! That poor, sweet ass

    Is there video of this?????

That is what I was wondering.

  90. Just saying, I never think about the skull, maybe that is why the hair is thin ? hehe . He is so darn sexy even in an old sloppy tee and same old clothes, although he is dressing better lately. Not sure if mentioned but Rockerfeller Christmas, the National Athem and on and on. The boy has covered road miles and the media .

  91. Is there video of this?????

Not that I know of, he said it in an interview but I can’t remember which one!

  92. I’ll have to look that interview up later. That would be really unnerving if someone I didn’t even know grabbed my ass. *shuder*

  93. I thought you were talking about when Ryan Star did it. Or are we talking about when fans grab it? lol

Speaking of touching, a video of Declaration from tonight. It gets wild. LOL
    Declaration

  94. Speaking of touching, a video of Declaration from tonight. It gets wild. LOL
    Declaration

I wasn’t quite sure he wasn’t going over that barrier, lol. I think he makes security crazy. But I sure do love that he does what he does. Counting the days ’til 12/2. Will continue denial that it is the last show :)

  95. seriously, you are good!!

    From that article:

Your audiences run the gamut from 14-year-old girls to 44-year-old women, the so-called Cougars for Cook. What’s the weirdest gift one of your more mature fans has given you?

    An a– grab.

    Excuse me?

An a– grab. We played in St. Louis the other night, and while I was walking to the stage, I got three a– grabs in a row.

A.D.D.: Cook said the grabs were pretty forceful, but not enough to bruise his tuchus. “I did have a handprint there though,” he chuckles.

I thought you were talking about when Ryan Star did it. Or are we talking about when fans grab it? lol

Speaking of touching, a video of Declaration from tonight. It gets wild. LOL
    Declaration

Wow. I watched it twice. The second time I noticed some chick put her hand on his chest and slid down it. Talk about uncomfortable!

  97. I knew there was a reason to come back to Cooktopia this thread.

That video from Atlanta — wow. I love the look on Dave’s face when that woman suddenly pops up from the crowd right in front of him — like a cork bobbing to the surface of a very noisy ocean. I also had to laugh at the woman he was basically leaning on whose hand hovered over his back for most of that chorus till she finally gave in and patted him.

Also love the pictures from that Horseshoe review — the first one is gorgeous. Thanks wellhesback.

You know, I was thinking DC has gone over 140 concerts without a crotch-grab.

Weeell, not exactly true, although it wasn’t the kind of crotch grab being discussed elsewhere, lol. In San Diego… ack, I can’t remember the context, but he said something he decided sounded terribly twee, then said he needed to reassert his guy cred and performed a rather epic, um, major league ballplayer-type adjustment. It was pretty funny.

    There have been ass-grabs however.

Yeah, when he’s waded onto the audience, not everyone has been as genteel as the front row lady in Atlanta. heh!

Gah. I’m incredibly grateful it’s lasted as long as it has, but I am going to be SO SAD when the neverending tour ends. :-(

  98. I love the look on Dave’s face when that woman suddenly pops up from the crowd right in front of him ‘” like a cork bobbing to the surface of a very noisy ocean.

LOL, that cracked me up. I don’t know he keeps going through all the craziness that happens in that video.

Wonder what he said in the magic secret mike before he went wandering? Think the boys just roll their eyes at him? :)

  99. Think the boys just roll their eyes at him?

*L* I think Neal *did* — I can’t remember if it was before or after he spoke in the mic, but he said something to Neal before hopping off the stage and the eyeroll was there all over Neal’s face, even if his eyes never actually rolled.

I love that this band. I love that they’re all 1) chill enough to just go with whatever crazy stuff Dave does and 2) talented enough that they just swing into their own instrumental thing and he can vocally wind in and out of it whenever he wants to without anyone losing a beat. It’s awesome.

  100. So I worked from home this morning and low and behold a good friend (stay at home mom) decided to call me (not even knowing whether I was home or not) to let me know David Cook was on R&K this morning. I was able to turn it on and enjoy!!! Yay! LOL, I guess my friends know me. ;)

    Good job DC!!!! Woot!

  101. I love that they’re all 1) chill enough to just go with whatever crazy stuff Dave does and 2) talented enough that they just swing into their own instrumental thing and he can vocally wind in and out of it whenever he wants to without anyone losing a beat. It’s awesome.

Speaking of ability to improvise, apparently there was an impromptu acoustic jam session in the parking lot outside the venue in Atlanta tonight. Members of all three bands (Script, GRO, Anthemic) played together. No vids yet but here are some blurry twitpics:

  102. apparently there was an impromptu acoustic concert in the parking lot outside the venue in Atlanta tonight.

Holy Jumping Cats. They certainly are making sure this last leg of the tour is as epic as possible. Thanks LadyM!

I was really hoping the Anthemic et al. would hit it off with The Script and it looks like no worries there. I love Irish musicians — they’ll sing and play at the drop of a hat. And obviously drag whoever is around with them. *g*

  103. Yay! LOL, I guess my friends know me. ;)

Ha, my mother and sister tell me whenever they see/read something about him, phrasing it, “I heard your boyfriend on the radio” or “I saw your boyfriend on TV.”

If he is my boyfriend, I am not getting the enjoyment out of him that I should be getting. I don’t even get to *talk* to him (pouts). LOL. Ah, family :)

  104. Heh. Andy just tweeted: Danny from Injected came out and jammed with us on his song “Bar-ba-sol”.

    Yay!

And Neal just tweeted he’s got the hot hand at dice again.

I wonder if Dave just lost his blackjack winnings. *g*

  105. andyskib

Thanks Atlanta! Danny from Injected came out and jammed with us on his song “Bar-ba-sol”. T Gonzalez came out to hang. Good times in ATL. 27 minutes ago from web

Aw, Tony Gonzalez was there, too? Wonder if David ever has to pinch himself, lol. He’s friends with people that not so long ago he was just a fan of like the rest of us. And I love that he is really gathering up friends everywhere he goes. *hugs thread again* (lol)

  106. Loved the video of Declaration! Thanks for bringing it here. David’s facial expression is priceless when the woman pops up in front of him. She pops straight up like that toy jack in the box and then screams I love David Cook! Ya , we all do! Lol! I am sure David was telling security what he was about to do when he went to the secret mike. That looks like one fun concert tonight. David and the guys are this amazing band of brothers that just know how to bring it, and then leave it all on the stage. I would have loved that impromptu jam session outside. These guys are amazing. I don’t want this tour to end.

  107. It’s like the universe is mocking me for having moved out of Atlanta. Sigh.

Ah, well. I did get to go see them in Charlottesville, so I guess that I’m not being overly mocked. [smiles, waves to tierbee]

  108. Ah, well. I did get to go see them in Charlottesville, so I guess that I’m not being overly mocked. [smiles, waves to tierbee]

Hello :) ! And where else would you have gotten to listen to banter about… a grilled cheese and chili sandwich? Ha!

  109. Speaking of touching, a video of Declaration from tonight. It gets wild. LOL

    That was pretty funny.

  110. ^Ha, Dave climbs like a freakin monkey. He shot up that scaffolding pretty easily at Sunfest, too. He must have some killer upper body strength. Jes saying.

The Atlanta vids are teh awesome. I’m loving this Make Believe with the adorkable banter. SQUEE, t minus 4 days and counting, y’all. I hope they play Make Believe. And ADAM. Oooo, or Anoydyne would be amazing. And the new version of IDIFY… Or IJDIYA…. ~hyperventilates~

  111. I would kill to see Anodyne. It is like my favorite song ever!

ETA: Wow I sound like a 12 year old girl there.

  112. All kidding and hyperventillating aside, I’m just happy to be going to another show. I have balcony seats this time so I plan to just chill and savor the experience. ~grins~

  113. I have balcony seats this time so I plan to just chill and savor the experience. ~grins~

Hey, good luck with that, sunchick. ::grins back at you:: We could take bets on how soon you shoot to your feet and start dancing up there.

  114. So many good vids coming from yesterday’s show & after-show!
Savor the moments DC, we surely are

  115. I would kill to see Anodyne. It is like my favorite song ever!

ETA: Wow I sound like a 12 year old girl there.

You didn’t have enough exclamation points to sound like a 12 yr old girl :)

  116. We could take bets on how soon you shoot to your feet and start dancing up there.

:D Don’t put a fiver on ten seconds into the first song. Cuz it aint gonna happen. ;) ;) Also, if you hear post concert reports about someone creating a makeshift rope and lowering themselves down from the balcony onto the GA floor while yelling ILUBABYBUTIMGOININ and waving to some poor dumbfounded sucker up yonder, it totally won’t be me. Cuz I will be enjoying the concert with my man from the comfort of our cushy seats.

  117. lol, sunchick! David will be so glad see a male in the audience that he will climb back up the rope to take the empty seat beside your man. “Dude,” he’ll say. “Anything special you’d like to hear me sing? You name it, it’s yours. Oh, and also, have my boots.” He sees you climbing back up, and says, courteously, “Hold on, sunchick, we’re not finished here.”

  118. Oh, I hope it’s the red boots. Er, um, meanwhile, the random chick on the makeshift rope will be shouting “Ask him to play Stitches, baby! And Make Believe! And Anodyne…”

  119. David slides down the rope (and over randomchick) without his boots. He lands, and then runs through many dozens of grabby hands. He vaults onto the stage and plays. . . Anodyne, because sunchick’s guy is a red-booted mensch.

I wonder where the elf boots are now.

  120. Stopping by to visit this lovely thread one more time before it poofs off the front page… and to laugh at sunchick’s rope sliding goodness :)

  121. David slides down the rope (and over randomchick) without his boots.

While random chick gets quite an eyeful, and thensome, of world peace. (Notice the boots, hahaha.)
