SUNDAY UPDATE: According to tweets, Chris Evert and Jeffrey Donovan were WINNERS of today’s match against David Cook and Martina Navratilova. David gave his tennis racket to a girl in the crowd.

David took his first tennis lessons in March and says tennis “is more nerve-wracking than the final of American Idol.”

Ha ha. Doesn’t David Cook look positively debonair in his tennis outfit?

No matter, he had a great day of tennis. David and Sebastien Grosjean won their match against Martina Navratilova and Jeffrey Donovan at Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic in Boca Raton FL with a score of 6-4. Reportedly, Martina gave Dave a high five!

“Oh man, I had butterflies the entire time, ” David told the Boca Raton Tribune after the match, “This is probably one the most intimidating things I have ever had to do.”

The Chris Evert Tennis Classic kicked off yesterday with a press conference and cocktail party. Some of the other celebrities on hand are Gavin Rossdale, Allen Thicke, Jon Lovitz and Dave Foley.

The classic runs through tomorrow. Proceeds help abused and addicted kids as well as helping mothers with drug problems get back on their feet.
