American Idol alum David Archuleta has been on the road to recovery ever since his vocal cord hemorrhaged on the eve of a major tour. Eventually, after weeks of vocal rest, the singer underwent vocal cord surgery.

The season 7 runner up posted another Instagram health update on Thursday (March 31) alongside what amounts to major food p**n. Plates and plates of yummy looking main courses, sandwiches and desserts.

“An LA food tour while getting checked by the doc,” David wrote. “2-3 more weeks of no talking before I can start some voice rehab fingers crossed.”

David has found a silver lining in staying silent, “Interesting thing is despite having to adjust to finding other ways to communicate I’ve liked the break from using my voice. It’s felt needed. And finding purpose and meaning in my day to day life without having to sing or speak has actually been quite rejuvenating.”

Plus..FOOD. “And a food run from time to time isn’t so bad either. I’ve had several though so no diet lately for me.” David hasn’t spoken since February 7!

David injured his vocal cords just as he began a long-awaited tour.

David’s vocal cord saga began in early February when he cancelled dates on the eve of his OK All Right tour.

“So I hemorrhaged a vocal cord and have to let it heal so it doesn’t cause any further damage,” David wrote at the time. “I also have vocal nodules. This means that sadly I will have to postpone the next shows until I know I’ve recovered to a healthy point to do performances.”

Eventually, David canceled the entire tour to allow his cords to heal properly. “After lots of thought and consideration with my team and the venues, we have decided to cancel the OK, All Right tour,” he announced on social media. “I am still healing from my vocal issue and it’s going to require a lot more time than I originally anticipated. I want to be sure to heal so I can come back without having done anything that could do permanent damage.”

In mid-March, David posted another update, revealing that he’d undergone vocal surgery.  “I just finished a follow-up meeting with Dr. Nasseri who just performed a vocal surgery on me yesterday.” David added. “The surgery went really well so just have to continue resting and healing. I feel great so far as far as all-around health. Will have to take things easy for a while is all.”
